The 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show featured a number of major musical acts: Kanye ! Maroon 5 ! Nicki Minaj ! But we’re gonna take a wild guess here and assume more viewers turned in for the models, not the music. For skin, not for song selection. For long legs and thin waists, not… you get the idea. Among numerous other beauties walking the runway last night on CBS, Alessandra Ambrosio and Candice Swanepoel were happy to oblige these demands with a pair of outfits not seen in the typical bedroom. After much speculation, Nicki Minaj has announced the release date for her new album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded . The sophomore album from YMCMB’s head barb in charge, is slated to be released on Valentine’s Day 2012! “Pink Friday : ROMAN RELOADED will be released on Valentines Day, 2012. Heeeee’s baaaacccckkkkk,” said Nicki via Twitter where she announced the new album title. Mary J. Rumor has it that LisaRaye is engaged to mega pastor Noel Jones, who is the brother of Grace Jones! LisaRaye has been been dating the well-known pastor of the City of Refuge for quite some time and it looks as though they’re taking it to the next level. Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift have formed an unlikely friendship which stemmed from a radio interview Miss Swift had done where she requested Nicki’s “Superbass,” a cut off Nicki’s Pink Friday album, to be played. The radio host, interviewing her at the time took it a step further and asked Taylor to rap the lyrics, which she said she could effortlessly do. After a slight hesitation, Taylor erupted into song, adding her soft-spoken voice to Minaj’s mature lyrics. The video spawned several copy-cats and introduced “Superbass” to a complete new realm of people. Last night, upon accepting her 2011 American Music Award for “Favorite Hip Hop Artist,” Nicki Minaj thanked Taylor for her contribution to “Superbass.” Nicki says “Well, I have to thank her because if it wasn’t for her just being open and honest about a new song she liked no-one would know… her fan base would not have known about ‘Super Bass’.” Taylor said she is “blown away” by Nicki’s acknowledgment! Jay-Z is ready to be a great father to his daughter, and it’s not just because he has more than enough money to take care of her. Jay intends on being there for his little girl, and will even change her diapers. Jay-Z was close to his father, but his dad abandoned him and his family. S. Carter spoke about how it affected him to GQ : “If your dad died before you were born, yeah, it hurts—but it’s not like you had a connection with something that was real,” Jay says. “Not to say it’s any better—but to have that connection and then have it ripped away was, like, the worst. Jay-Z has designed a t-shirt in support of the Occupy Wall Street protests, but a statement from his Rocawear company has some questioning his intent. The shirt reads “Occupy All Streets” crossing out the “W” and adding an “S”, a clever play on words and pretty consistent with the style of T-shirts the company has released in the past. However, the Business Insider asked if any profits from the sale of the shirt would go to the organizers of the Wall Street protests. Rocawear responded with the following statement: “The ‘Occupy All Streets’ T-shirt was created in support of the ‘Occupy Wall Street’ movement. Rocawear strongly encourages all forms of constructive expression, whether it be artistic, political or social. ‘Occupy All Streets’ is our way of reminding people that there is change to be made everywhere, not just on Wall Street. At this time we have not made an official commitment to monetarily support the movement.” Jay-Z is by no means the first person to create paraphernalia inspired by the protests. And if proceeds were to go to anyone, who would they go to? The Occupy Movement is hardly a monolith and has many different factions. Chanel Iman and Joan Smalls made us proud last night, stealing the show at the 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. The show featured themes including Ballet, Passion, Super Angels, a New Orleans-style “I Put A Spell On You” and the disco-driven Club Pink as the closer. The ladies, including Anais Mali, Lais Ribeiro, and Emanuela De Paula strutted down the catwalk as Nicki Minaj sang “Super Bass” and Kanye West performed “Stronger” before being joined on stage by Jay-Z for “N****** in Paris.” Lala Vazquez shined on the pink carpet in a colorblock combo with two of the sexiest men alive, Tyson Beckford and Maxwell. Each year, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show features the brand’s most famous angels draped in the newest, sexiest, and most gem-studded styles of lingerie. Nicki Minaj , Kanye West and Maroon 5 were scheduled to perform at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show last night, but Jay-Z made an unexpected appearance. He hit the stage and performed with Yeezy, and the crowd loved it. Kanye was supposed to perform at the annual event a few years ago, but cancelled after his mother Donda West died. “Stronger” was one of the songs he performed, and he dedicated it to his mother. “I lost my super hero,” Kanye told the audience, “and now she’s my super angel.” Jay-Z joined Yay for “N—-s In Paris,” but altered the lyrics to “Homies In Paris.” Nicki Minaj rocked out to ”Super Bass” in characteristically colorful attire.
