Lil Wayne Promises ‘I’ll Return’ In Pre-Jail Tweet

We look back at the highlights from Weezy’s weeks on Twitter. By James Montgomery Lil wayne Photo: MTV News On February 21, amid the ongoing reshuffling of his sentencing , Lil Wayne started a Twitter account . In the time since, he’s used the site to communicate with his fans, explore big topics like love and faith (and bowling ) and even set off a minor panic when he threatened to quit tweeting . Thankfully, he didn’t give it up, because throughout his sentencing delays, Weezy’s tweets have given fans a chance to peer inside his head and to live the drama of his impending jail time with him. And now that he’s officially been sentenced , we figure those tweets will probably come to an end. So here’s a look back at some of the highlights, set against the timeline of lengthy legal maneuverings. In the days leading up to his sentencing, Wayne wrote almost exclusively about affairs of the heart (“Ain’t it funny how love finds you in your darkest place?” “Love, I am your shadow,” “Love is a circle … stay in it or around it … just don’t end up out of shape”) and, uh, time travel (“Hello future, goodbye now, I’m on my way to the past …”). He also took time to let his fans know that he was enduring in the face of a year behind bars (“Staying strong,” ” Yesterday, I smiled, today I smirked, tomorrow I stop … thanks for your thoughts and prayers, they’re needed.”). Then, when a courthouse fire caused his sentencing to be delayed yet again, he let it be known that he planned to use his remaining days of freedom to promote positivity. “More time to love,” he wrote, immediately following the delay. “Trying to spend my love wisely.” With his sentencing rescheduled for Monday (March 8), he again started touting love — or the absence of it — dropping lines like “Love is a beautiful lie which most prefer when the truth hurts” and “Born to love, so I’ll die without.” He also promised to “Kik Lil Twist’s azz in bowling” (because it can’t always be about love). And, finally, early Monday morning, with his sentencing just hours away, he posted what may be his final tweet (for now): an inspirational message that promised his fans he’d most certainly be back. “Law is mind without reason,” he wrote. “I’ll return.” Related Videos Lil Wayne’s ‘Road To Rikers’ Lil Wayne Goes To Jail Related Photos Lil Wayne Heads To Rikers Island Related Artists Lil Wayne
