Fans get a sneak peek at ‘Anchorman: The Legend Continues’ (or, at least, the guys’ feet) in first official poster. By Fallon Prinzivalli “Anchorman: The Legend Continues” poster Photo: Paramount The road to the highly anticipated “Anchorman 2” has been a long one . Since “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy” arrived in 2004, there were reports from cast and crew confirming a sequel and announcing a script was in the process of being written. But the words were then taken back, leaving fans dizzy and disappointed believing they wouldn’t see the anchormen reunite. Finally, when all hope was lost, Ferrell made a surprise appearance on “Conan” as the legendary Ron Burgundy to announce that the sequel was greenlit. With the “Anchorman 2” teaser trailer playing before Sacha Baron Cohen’s “Dictator,” the Lebanese Cinema Movie Guide released the first official poster. It shows the Channel 4 news team’s feet standing on set in the studio, the bottom of their suits — including Ron’s signature burgundy number, presumably not bought at the toilet store — keeping it classy as always. The official title of the film appears at the bottom in big, bold print (“Anchorman: The Legend Continues”) with a release date of 2013. While the film is still in the very early stages of development, the first movie’s director and co-writer Adam McKay will reunite with Ferrell to pen the script and the principal cast is set to return, including Steve Carell and Paul Rudd. When MTV News spoke with McKay back in 2010, he told us he expected much of the cast to come along for the sequel. “We had an idea, and we contacted Steve and Paul and [David] Koechner and Christina [Applegate] and checked in with everyone, and they were all game for it,” McKay said. “It’s a tricky movie, because everyone went and did really well after it, so everyone’s prices went up and everyone’s time got a little more valuable. But at the same time, graciously, Steve and Paul and everyone agreed to cut their price to come and do it, which you don’t see very often in Hollywood — and cut their price substantially.” Thanks to the cast’s commitment, Ron and the rest of the anchormen are set to hit theaters in 2013. Until then, stay classy, moviegoers. Kate Upton gets so much press because dudes love tits…while all I see is an ass that is gonna catch up to the shit…in what is already a kinda sloppy body despite how hard she probably tries to maintain her body….so I got to talking to a girl yesterday who was on my side….and not cuz she was jealous that Kate Upton makes more guys cum in 5 minutes than she has in her 20 year old life….but cuz she has fucking eyes and can spot the flaws in the over-hype that is her…like her Gummy Smile and not so beautiful face when there aren’t cameras and lights and make-up on her….but at least it’s not her bloated gunt….Anna Nicole Smith the Sequel right here..
Since Will Ferrell dropped the late-night bombshell that Anchorman 2 was a go the other week, the world’s been wondering: What has Ron Burgundy been up to since 2004’s Anchorman ? Speaking with AM760/Salon , co-writer/director Adam McKay dropped a few hints about the sequel, which is currently being scripted. “I don’t want to give away too much, but I’ll just give a couple pieces of ideas that we’ve kicked around. Keep in mind we’re still writing the story, but I’ll say one phrase for you: custody battle. I’ll give you that. I’ll give you one other one: bowling for dollars.” So… any guesses? It has been eight real world years since Ron wooed his lady co-anchor Veronica Corningstone with his sweet jazz flute stylings circa 1975, so assuming the same amount of time has passed in Anchorman years it’d make sense if they now have a little Burgundy running around. Mind you, this is pure speculation, but just think about that for a second: A MINI RON BURGUNDY. YES PLEASE. Maybe the pressures of co-hosting World News Center drove a wedge in Ron and Veronica’s relationship and they’re fighting over their kid, Kramer vs. Kramer -style and the only way to get his family back is with… bowling? That’s all I’ve got with so little to go on. So have at it, Movieliners; what could Ron Burgundy be up to in Anchorman 2 — and what would you like to see from him and the rest of the Channel Four News Team? [AM760/ Salon ]

‘Twilight Saga’ star will take on ‘fun’ role in sequel to the hit 2010 comedy. By Jocelyn Vena Taylor Lautner Photo: Jeff Kravitz/Film Magic If you’ve been itching to see Taylor Lautner flex his comedy chops more on the big screen, this news is for you. The “Twilight Saga” star has just nabbed a role in the sequel to 2010’s “Grown Ups,” according to The Hollywood Reporter . Lautner will join most of the original cast in the sequel including its leading man Adam Sandler, as well as Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Maya Rudolph and Salma Hayek. “Project X” star Oliver Cooper also recently joined the cast. Director Dennis Dugan will be back to helm “Grown Ups 2.” Sources say that the big-screen werewolf “will make an appearance in a ‘fun’ role, in which he goes toe-to-toe with Sandler.” The role marks a departure for Lautner, who previously angled more toward action-based blockbusters like the “Twilight” flicks and “Abduction,” which was a Stateside box-office dud but managed to gross $82 million worldwide. The first “Grown Ups” film earned $162 million domestically and $271 million worldwide. The film follows a group of friends who reunite as adults after their high school basketball coach dies. While no further production details about the film are being reported, Lautner does have a busy 2012 ahead of him. He’s set to work with Gus Van Sant in his next indie, the final “Twilight” film, “Breaking Dawn – Part 2,” opens in November and since mid-2011, he has been attached to the big-screen adaptation of the YA novel “Incarceron.” Lautner also recently dropped out of a starring role in “Stretch Armstrong” after being attached to that project for some time. MTV News brings you a timeline of all the obstacles that once stood in the way of the now-greenlit sequel. By Fallon Prinzivalli Will Ferrell in “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy” Photo: DreamWorks Pictures Movie fans were overjoyed by Will Ferrell ‘s announcement Wednesday night that “Anchorman 2″ is finally happening . The long journey since the release of the first film left us doubting whether a sequel would ever happen. With our doubts cast aside and our excitement on the rise, we’ve compiled a timeline of all the obstacles the team overcame to arrive at the ultimate destination. August 14, 2008 : Paul Rudd tells us he thinks ” Anchorman ” director Adam McKay and actor Will Ferrell were interested in doing a sequel. “Last I heard they were starting to write [‘Anchorman 2’],” Rudd says. The setting? Possibly the ’80s or the moon . May 27, 2009 : Ferrell tells Aussie radio DJs Jono & Dana that he’ll be meeting with the “Anchorman” creators to “figure out when and how” to get a sequel in the works. August 28, 2009 : In an interview with Empire magazine, “Anchorman” producer Judd Apatow suggests that in “Anchorman 2,” Ron Burgundy, Brick Tamland and Brian Fantana will return as elderly men. “Those anchormen sometimes have their jobs until they’re 75 years old,” Apatow says. September 1, 2009 : Director McKay says that, due to the cast and crew’s busy schedules, the sequel won’t be available for another two years . He adds, “But we are definitely doing it.” Whew. April 6, 2010 : Steve Carell confirms to our very own Josh Horowitz that the “Anchorman” cast “want[s] to do another one,” but there is no script. “I don’t think they’ve [even] decided on a story line yet,” Carell says. April 8, 2010 : On the red carpet for his movie “Date Night,” Carell lies about everything. He says “Anchorman 2” has already been shot in “just two days” while the cast was drunk. When asked if it was any good he says, “It’s fantastic!” Honestly, with the talent in these comedians, we wouldn’t be surprised if it was. April 27, 2010 : Adam McKay reveals that, aside from the actor’s schedules, another holdup in the sequel is payment . Since the cast went on to become even more famous after the first movie, “Everybody’s prices went up.” Graciously, the cast agreed to take a pay cut, which is almost unheard of in Hollywood. April 29, 2010 : McKay dashes all our hopes and dreams in a single tweet : “So bummed. Paramount basically passed on Anchorman 2. Even after we cut our budget down. We tried.” May 3, 2010 : Hope is restored! As it turns out, Paramount is eager to film the sequel. Deadline reports, however, the “Anchorman” team is forced to regroup as they have a budget gap of $30 million to overcome. June 6, 2010 : With financial issues in the way, Paul Rudd jokes that if “Anchorman 2” doesn’t happen, “We’ll look to do ‘Anchorman 3.’ ” July 19, 2010 : Yet again, it seems as if “Anchorman 2” is never going to happen. The saddest part? Neither is the proposed “Anchorman” musical . A few days later, Christina Applegate says she feels let down by the news. May 2, 2011 : All hope is officially lost when Ferrell tells Collider that the sequel “is a brick wall right now” and they’re “playing around with the idea” of a “Step Brothers” sequel instead. And suddenly… March 28, 2012 : Ferrell announces on “Conan” that “Anchorman 2” is officially happening with the original director, Adam McKay, and most of the principal castmembers, including Steve Carell and Paul Rudd. The stars have aligned. It’s finally happening. Cue celebration! ‘It is official, there will be a sequel to ‘Anchorman,'” says Will Ferrell. By Gil Kaufman Will Ferrell Photo: Getty Images Ferrell, appearing as leisure-suit wearing newsman Ron Burgundy, broke the news while making a surprise appearance on the “Conan” show that thrilled the audience. Taking the stage in a, yes, burgundy colored suit and wide, striped tie, Ferrell/Burgundy, ripped off a wicked flute solo, then explained to host Conan O’Brien, “I like to keep my chops up, jam with the cats here … smoke a little tea afterwards, see if a little backstage Judy ends up on my lap.” After complimenting the host on his broadcasting skills, Burgundy shared one small criticism with O’Brien. “You look awful,” he said. “You look like someone put a bright red fright wig on a skeleton and chucked it out of a helicopter.” But Burgundy wasn’t just there to play the flute and insult his host, he also had an exciting bit of news. “I want to announce this to everyone here in the Americas,” he said. “To my friends, in Spain, Turkey and the U.K., including England … as of 0900 Mountain Time, Paramount Pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have come to terms on a sequel for ‘Anchorman.’ It is official, there will be a sequel to ‘Anchorman.'” And with that, Burgundy played himself off the stage with a second wicked flute solo. Back in early 2010, “Anchorman” director and co-writer Adam McKay told MTV News that he expected much of the first movie’s cast to come along for the sequel, including Steve Carell and Paul Rudd, as well as Christina Applegate, David Koechner Chris Parnell and Fred Willard. “We had an idea and we contacted Steve and Paul and Koechner and Christina and checked in with everyone and they were all game for it,” McKay said at the time. “It’s a tricky movie because everyone went and did really well after it, so everyone’s prices went up and everyone’s time got a little more valuable. But at the same time, graciously, Steve and Paul and everyone agreed to cut their price to come and do it, which you don’t see very often in Hollywood — and cut their price substantially .” The original grossed more than $91 million worldwide. Ferrell and McKay will once again co-write for the sequel and McKay will direct again, with production slated to begin at the end of this year for a 2013 release. Maybe you’re the kind of person who wakes up in the morning and says, “What can I learn today about the psychological effects of blood feuds in contemporary Albania?” But I doubt it. Who even thinks about these things, or cares about them? The strange miracle of Joshua Marston’s modest, well-constructed drama The Forgiveness of Blood — which really is about blood feuds in contemporary Albania — is that once you’ve watched it, you might find that you actually do care. It’s the kind of movie that makes the world feel like a smaller place, suggesting that the similarities connecting us across continents and cultures are more resonant than the things that divide us. The Forgiveness of Blood is set in northern Albania — it was also filmed there, using local, nonprofessional actors. Eighteen-year-old Nik (Tristan Halilaj) is a senior in high school, with his eye on the prettiest classmate and ambitions to open his own Internet café. But one day his father, Mark (Refet Abazi), becomes involved in a land dispute: Mark makes a living for himself and his family by delivering bread to local homes and businesses — his mode of transport is a horse-drawn cart — and he habitually takes a shortcut across land that used to belong to his grandfather. The current owners take umbrage, and an altercation breaks out in which one of them is stabbed to death; implicated in the murder, Mark immediately goes into hiding. But according to codes of law that have been in place for centuries, the aggrieved family is entitled to take the life of a male from the aggressor’s family. Nik is forced into a kind of house arrest, along with his younger brother and two sisters. But because the female members of the household aren’t in danger, Nik’s younger sister, Rudina (Sindi Laçej), must leave school and temporarily take over her father’s business, just to keep the family afloat. This is a vivid, tough little story that enfolds lots of dramatic subthreads: Nik and Rudina live, as most of us do, in a world of cell phones and satellite TV, yet they find themselves bound by antiquated rules of conduct. Nik is just learning his way around the adult world — he preens in front of the mirror, Tony Manero-style, hoping to look good for the girl he’s set his sights on — only to be imprisoned at home, as if grounded by an especially strict parent. It’s a particularly painful kind of cultural emasculation, and he lashes out. And Rudina, a bright girl who seems to enjoy school (it’s hinted that she may have a future outside this rather restrictive community), suddenly has to play the role of the male breadwinner. She’d rather go shoe-shopping with her friends, of course, but the point is that her very sex both protects her and makes her life harder: Her life is of lesser value under the arcane rules governing the blood feud, which means that when the males in her family are compromised, she has to step up to the plate and act like a man. She seems to have the worst of both worlds. Marston’s gift as a filmmaker — he also co-wrote the script with Albanian screenwriter Andamion Murataj — is that he makes us care about these characters without forcing us to eat the knobby, dirt-encrusted root vegetables of cross-cultural awareness. You know what I’m talking about: The world of independent filmmaking is full of movies designed to congratulate well-informed, literate liberals on how well-informed and literate they are — we watch as peasants and otherwise “compromised” people, who live in countries outside North America (or even the poorer communities within it), suffer through their daily lives. Then we’re allowed to pat ourselves on the back for allowing our eyes to be opened to their plight. Marston doesn’t play that game here, and he didn’t play it in his first feature, Maria Full of Grace , either: That picture told the story of a young Colombian woman who becomes a drug mule to raise money for her family. The picture could have been a pile-up of the most tense horrors imaginable, but Marston has the rare gift of knowing when to ease up on the clutch: He focuses on individuals, on their faces and their feelings, sometimes at the expense of your garden-variety dramatic buildup. His movies have their own kind of narrative intensity, but they’re not thrillers masquerading as human-interest stories. With Marston, the interest is all human. That’s especially true in The Forgiveness of Blood . In the movie’s early moments, when I saw that horse-drawn bread cart rambling across a scrubby-yet-beautiful semi-rural landscape, I groaned. Was this going to be one of those good-for-you movies that’s pure punishment to watch? The picture does have its unnerving moments, points at which you find yourself inside the head of a particular character and you’re not sure you want to be there. But Marston doesn’t overreach dramatically. Mostly, he simply trusts the faces of his actors: Halilaj’s Nik has a gawky-charming teen-scarecrow look — he’s all long limbs and awkward pauses, particularly when he’s in the presence of that pretty classmate. And even though Rudina isn’t really the movie’s main character, as Laçej plays her, she’s its quiet, somber soul. Rudina observes the proceedings around her with resigned exasperation: Just when her life should be moving forward, it’s being pulled backward through hundreds of years of tradition. That tension is gentle but potent, and it’s what keeps The Forgiveness of Blood coursing along. By the end, you’ll care more about Albanian blood feuds than you ever thought you could. Follow S.T. Forget John Carter ‘s controversial budget woes and terrible tracking for a minute; Wrath of the Titans has been threatening to be the first big biff of 2012 since it was announced, thanks largely to its poorly received predecessor, Clash of the Titans . The sequel’s initial Marilyn Manson-themed trailer didn’t help, either, but Warner Bros. have thankfully tightened things (and stopped lingering on Sam Worthington’s Kenny Powers ‘do) for a new trailer that actually promises some fantastic CG creature work. Bring on the lava monster thingy! Wrath of the Titans picks up ten years after the events of Clash , with Perseus (Worthington) tapped once again by Zeus to save the world, this time from the nefarious Titans and Olympian plotters we glimpsed in Immortals . (Thanks for that primer, Tarsem!) This time around Rosamund Pike is along for the ride as the warrior queen Andromeda, as well as folks like Toby Kebbell and Bill Nighy. This trailer tightens things up a bit, explaining the set up (Liam Neeson’s Zeus is under attack!) and packing a ton of CG creature looks into the span of a minute and a half. Honestly, that’s shaping up to be the draw of this Jonathan Liebesman-helmed sequel. All I want to see is some believable lava smoke monster giant action. The movies never get those guys quite right. Wrath of the Titans will debut March 30. [via ComingSoon ]
