‘Hunger Games’ Sequel Recruits Writer Simon Beaufoy

‘Slumdog Millionaire’ scribe takes over ‘Catching Fire.’ By Kevin P. Sullivan Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth in “Hunger Games” Photo: Lions Gate Back in November, Deadline reported that Lionsgate already had a short list of writers they wanted to pen the sequel to “The Hunger Games.” According to the report, Simon Beaufoy, the writer behind the Academy Award-winning “Slumdog Millionaire” script, topped the list. Now the Los Angeles Times is reporting that not only has Beaufoy signed on to write “Catching Fire,” but that director Gary Ross will return as well. There had been no direct confirmation that Ross would return, and until “The Hunger Games” comes out, there probably won’t be, but as things stand, Ross will likely direct. Ross and author Suzanne Collins originally planned to reteam for the “Catching Fire” script, after having collaborated on the “Hunger Games” screenplay. Postproduction work on the first film and the looming proposed release date for the second didn’t allow Ross to begin work on the sequel. Beaufoy, whose other writing credits include “127 Hours” and “The Full Monty,” will adapt Collins’ book, with Ross overseeing. There are four films planned for the three-book series. The final book, “Mockingjay,” will likely be split into two flicks if the producers stick to their original plan. The first film of the series — starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth — is scheduled for release March 23. For now, “Catching Fire” is scheduled to hit theaters November 22, 2013. The stars of “The Hunger Games” are all expected to return, per sequel clauses in their contracts. The first trailer for Journey 2: The Mysterious Island was all about fun family adventure. The film is the sequel to Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D, the film that was ahead of the recent wave of 3D releases, and as such got away with some pretty shoddy effects. This sequel is loosely based on Jules Verne’s novel The Mysterious Island, and the original trailer highlighted a little bit of danger… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : /Film Discovery Date : 25/11/2011 18:43 Number of articles : 2

Nia Long: “I Asked God” For This Baby

See original here:

Nia Long‘s baby is a blessing from God, the actress admitted to Ebony magazine in it’s November issue. The 40-year-old pregnant mom says she turned to faith when she was told she would have trouble conceiving at her age. “I honestly asked God for this. I remember I was driving home from the doctor, and I called [my boyfriend] Ime, and I was like, ‘Babe, I’m really kind of sad right now. The doctor actually said if I wanted to have more children, it would be hard.’ The next time [Ime] came to visit, he said, ‘I don’t believe that.’ I said, ‘You don’t?’ He said, ‘No.’ And I said, ‘Good, me neither.’ Then I got pregnant.” She hopes other aging women don’t get deterred either: “The medical [profession] tries to tell every woman, ‘Have your babies before 40 because you shouldn’t have children after 40.’ Society tells us, ‘Get married before 30, because no man wants a woman after 30.’ You are not half the woman you’re gonna be until you turn 30. You’re not even half of that woman yet. So I think if we’d just take our time as women, and do what comes natural to us and for us, we would make fewer mistakes.” Confirmed! “The Best Man” Is Getting A Sequel A Very Pregnant Nia Long & Her Boyfriend Take A Stroll [PHOTOS] When Black Don’t Crack: 12 Celebs That Have Aged Gracefully [PHOTOS]
