Taylor Swift didn't take very long to stake her claim to 2016. The solo superstar dropped her latest music video as part of New Year's Rockin Eve on ABC, giving fans their very first look at “Out of the Woods” just an hour or so before the ball dropped in Times Square. The track, co-written by Jack Antonoff, appears to be one of several songs on the album “1989” about the singer’s failed relationship with Harry Styles. The lyrics are comprised of multiple allusions to their romance, including a mention of an accident they were in together. Directed by Joseph Kahn (who was also behind the camera for Swift's ” Blank Space ,” “Bad Blood ” and “Wildest Dreams” videos), this footage features Taylor running through some kind of enchanted forest while being chased by a pack of wolves who gnaw at her dress while she tries to escape. But then Swift finds herself on top of a snowy mountain… underwater… in a desert… and crawling through mud in the middle of a lightning storm. At the conclusion of the video, she finds a beach, where another version of her is waiting by the shore. Go ahead and interpret this however you'd like. Just prepare to see the video everywhere and hear the song non-stop for the next several months or so. What do you think?

Lemmy Kilmister – the lead singer of the influential rock band Motörhead – has passed away at the age of 70. Almost as well known for his reckless lifestyle as for his inimitable vocal stylings on metal classics such “Ace of Spades,” Kilmister succumbed to an undisclosed form of cancer less than 48 hours after being diagnosed. The official Motörhead Twitter page broke the news to fans moments ago with the following statement: ” There is no easy way to say this…our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer. “He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made it’s way down the street, with his family. We cannot begin to express our shock and sadness, there aren’t words. We will say more in the coming days, but for now, please…play Motörhead loud, play Hawkwind loud, play Lemmy’s music LOUD. Have a drink or few. Share stories. Celebrate the LIFE this lovely, wonderful man celebrated so vibrantly himself…HE WOULD WANT EXACTLY THAT. ” The news comes as fans continue to mourn the passing of the band’s drummer, Phil Taylor, who passed away last month . In addition to his time with Motörhead, Kilmister was an early member of the UK space rock outfit Hawkwind. It’s not uncommon for celebrities to trademark certain words and phrases that are commonly associated with their brand, but no one has ever wanted to own the words that come out of your mouth quite as much as Taylor Swift. Earlier this year, Taylor trademarked the phrase “this sick beat,” so we probably owe her a dollar or something just for using it in this sentence. Now, T-Swizzle is coming for another chunk of the English language, as her team has reportedly filed for trademarks on the phrases “and I’ll write your name,” “1989,” “blank space,” “Swiftmas,” and “a girl named Girl.” A Girl Named Girl is the title of a novel that Taylor wrote when she was 15. We have to idea what the hell Swiftmas is, but yours won’t be very merry if you piss off Taylor’s legal team! As for copyrighting a year, well that’s just an act of cartoonish supervillainy that brings Taylor one step closer to global domination. So you better get those references to the fall of the Berlin Wall out of your system now, because soon enough all things 1989 will be property of Ms. Swift. Taylor celebrated her birthday over the weekend, and there’s not a doubt in our minds that when she blew out the candles, a high-ranking member of her squad asked her what she wished for and Taylor replied, “The world, mijo,” in her best Scarface voice before picking her teeth with a machete. Okay, maybe that’s just how we like to imagine things went down.
