Khloe Kardashian has said that her sister’s wedding will rival that of Kate Middleton and Prince William, but an insider claims this is an actual likelihood. “It’s actually not that much of a joke. We take our lingering questions straight to the director. By Eric Ditzian J.J. Abrams Photo: MTV News After months of mystery, “Super 8” finally arrived in theaters over the weekend. The secretive marketing campaigns seemed to have paid off, with positive reviews and experts predicting lasting box-office success . With all that film-going satisfaction in mind, the way J.J. Abrams crafted his nostalgic thriller left plenty of lingering questions to be answered. So when the esteemed master of mystery stopped by our MTV News headquarters on Tuesday, we asked him our most burning “Super 8” questions. ( Spoilers ahead! ) Hanging Humans MTV News : When we go into the creature’s cave, we see the humans hanging upside down. Are they hanging upside down because he’s saving them to nosh on later? J.J. Abrams : I love anything involving aliens and noshing. First of all, a man’s got to eat, let’s be honest. Part of it is that he’s a hungry guy and he’s been through a lot, and part of it is that there’s a second connection that he can make with people, so he’s sort of used them as sort of a library of information of what he needs to know about the human technology to use it. Zombie Movies MTV News : The zombie movie that the kids made — why a zombie movie? Why not monsters? Vampires? Why zombies? Abrams : There are a series of films that George Romero did — “Night of the Living Dead,” “Dawn of the Dead” — and I thought that that would be something that could be a big influence on the kid who makes the movies, and so he’s sort of trying to create a movie the way that George Romero, his sort of hero in the movie, did with his zombie films. MTV News : Is there a director’s cut, maybe something we might see on the DVD of their zombie film? Abrams : There’s definitely a movie that’s three times as long, but it’s probably four times as bad. Kiss MTV News : Why no kiss between Elle Fanning and Joel Courtney? Abrams : You know, I don’t know who wanted to see the kiss between Elle Fanning and Joel Courtney, but to me … these were kids who, their affection for each other didn’t necessarily need to be played out with a kiss. But I think that hopefully you get the sense that their feelings for each other are profound. Cameo MTV News : We hear Bruce Greenwood did the motion capture from the creature. Abrams : Bruce Greenwood came in and he did some motion capture, body capture and also facial capture for the performance of the creature. A lot of it we ended up using and a lot of it we ended up having to animate and change because, frankly, when we saw the creature move, sometimes it felt like we had to change it up to make it work better. The PG-13 F-Bomb MTV News : It was a great use of the PG-13 f—. Was there always going to be the one F-bomb you threw? Did you go through different iterations? Abrams : It made me laugh, the idea that this guy who was such a sort of dink at the beginning and the fact that you know he was trying to sell these kids pot, he’s trying to hook up with his sister and he’s just an utter loser working at the camera store. The idea that this guy kind of gets roped into this adventure and sort of starts to really care about these kids. It makes you sort of like the guy, and so his showing up and seeing these kids are still alive and being happy about it and then seeing that this bus has been overturned after this attack of the creature. That reaction that he had just felt like the reaction he would have. And I was hoping that we’d get past the rating and not have to lose it, and luckily we did. Serena Williams is revealing details about the multiple surgeries she underwent over the past year, one of which was life-saving as it removed a fatal blood clot from her lungs. The blood clot developed while she was recuperating from her second foot surgery, one she needed after cutting her right foot with glass while leaving a restaurant in Munich last July. On her lung surgery: “It has been a totally different road because I’ve had some serious health problems and I was literally on my deathbed at one point. The doctors said that I had several clots bilaterally in both lungs. They said if they had caught it two days later, it could have been a lot more serious, possibly career-ending. A lot of people die from it because you don’t recognize it. I couldn’t breathe. I honestly just thought I was out of shape and needed to get on the treadmill or hit the elliptical. It was my physio who forced me to go to the hospital whereas I was actually on the way to a party. She said, ‘No, you need to go to the hospital.’ I’m glad I didn’t go to that party.” On cutting her foot and the following surgery: “We were leaving the restaurant, I was walking and then I felt something. I just stepped back and said, ‘Oh, that really hurts.’ There was a massive pool of blood. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh.’ I ended up fainting because I lost so much blood. I ended up getting stitches in both feet. One was on top and one was on the bottom of my other foot. It sliced right through my ligament. I didn’t know that, I just knew that my toe was hanging low.” “The second surgery on my foot was way tougher than the first, especially mentally. More mentally tough than anything I have been through in my life outside of my sister’s passing. I was in a cast for 20 weeks. I’d rather have been in jail for 20 weeks because I really hated that cast. Having your foot in one position so long, not moving it, not being able to walk or do a lot of things caused a lot of the problems.” On her post-surgery mindset: “After it was all over, there were a few days when I didn’t get out of bed. So much had happened to me and I couldn’t understand why. I was thinking, ‘Just what didn’t I do or what did I do to deserve this?’” However, Serena has finally returned to tennis, playing in a pre-Wimbledon tournament in the UK today: “If tennis has missed [Venus and I] half as much as we’ve missed tennis, we’re in a good place. BET’s hit drama series The Game has found a secure place among audiences. It’s funny, realistic, dramatic and one of the best black shows on television right now. The cast stars Tia Mowry and Pooch Hall but many of the other characters are what give the show pizazz. Barry “Tee Tee” Floyd is one of those characters. His silly but loyal presence around Hosea “Malik Wright” Chanchez has earned him a spot in viewer’s heart. As he enters the world of entrepreneurship we see Tee Tee’s character evolve from a side-kick to a businessman. Tee Tee spoke with me about a prank kiss with cast mate Tia, where The Game is headed and starting a petition to become a regular on the show! BET picked up The Game and many changes were made. What were some of those changes the cast had to deal with? Well for me, I felt like there were a lot of positive changes. We shot a lot more on location than we did when we were on the CW, so the show had a cinematic look – looks a lot better. I felt like the production value went up a lot more than it was before. They also got more dramatic with it – got a little bit away from the comedy and went more into the drama, which I liked a lot, but I felt like the fan base gave us a mixed reaction on it. Do you think that you and TT share some characteristics? How do y’all differ from real life and TV? I’m a laid back type of guy like TT is in real life. But I couldn’t be nobody’s flunky like that. And he puts up with a lot more than I would ever put up with. I wouldn’t have ever took that girl back. Who is your personal favorite character on The Game , besides TT? I like Jason Pitts – he’s funny. The way people always say their waiting to see what TT’s gonna do and say, I’m waiting to see what comes out of his mouth next. You’re petitioning to become a regular on the show. And I’ve noticed that they also had [Kelly] become a recurring role. What happened with that, because you were on a lot of episodes before BET kicked in? I’ve always been recurring. But in her situation, I don’t know all the details, but I think she had something else, like another project going on. She wasn’t able to dedicate all her time to The Game because she had another project she was working on. So a lot of times when stuff like that happens, it’s not always because the actor got in trouble or the writers decided they didn’t like us no more; it could’ve been a million different things. What is something that happened behind the scenes of The Game that no one knows about? A: My favorite thing that happened, it was Season 2 back when we still had a studio audience, and this scene actually ended up getting cut out, but you remember back when Melanie was staying with Malik and Tasha, and they ended up kicking her out because she got in bed with Malik? There was a scene where Tasha was telling her she had to leave and I came downstairs with her suitcase and stuff and I was supposed to try to kiss her and just punk out and not do it. So every take it was like, “Alright – just close your eyes, pucker up, then punk out and leave.” So on the last take, I closed my eyes, and I got ready for the kiss. Someone must’ve told her to grab me and kiss me for real. So I had my eyes closed, and the next thing I know, she just grabbed me and just wrapped around me and gave me, it wasn’t a real kiss – it was just like a stage kiss, so you don’t open your mouth. For me, I had just started acting – it was my first time really being around them like that, so it was like, “Oh Tia from Sister, Sister just gave me a fake kiss.” I didn’t even know about the stage kiss how you don’t open your mouth. So my natural reaction was to open my mouth. So I got my tongue out and her mouth is closed, so I’m like, ‘Oh, I guess I’m not supposed to be having my mouth open.’ What’s in store for Barry? Edythe Scott Bagley, the older sister of Coretta Scott King, died in her Pennsylvania home, the family said Sunday. New Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Movie In The Works Bagley died at her home in Cheney, Pa. Around 7 a.m. on Saturday, said Martin Luther King III, her nephew. She had been an active member of the board of directors for the Atlanta-based King Center since it was founded in 1968 and was also a retired professor of theatre arts at Cheyney University. Her age was not available. Bagley was born in Marion, Ala., and excelled in school, eventually earning a scholarship in 1943 to Antioch College. She transferred to Ohio State University and after graduating taught students in Alabama and North Carolina.After Martin Luther King Jr. was killed, Bagley worked with her sister, Martin’s widow, to promote civil rights. She occasionally represented Coretta Scott King at events, and made radio and TV appearances on behalf of the Center for Nonviolent Social Change. It’s Our Turn To Help Build The Dream In 1971, she joined Cheyney’s faculty and was charged with developing a theatre arts major. The program was approved in 1980. She is survived by her son Arturo, who is teaching at a Delaware school, a brother and several nieces and nephews. Arthur Bagley, her husband of 56 years, died in February 2011. The funeral will be June 17 at 1 p.m. in West Chester, Pa. Her family is also planning a memorial service celebrating her life in July in Marion. Is Beyonce A Liar? This is not a meet and greet experience, this is a NEVER SAY NEVER experience. It was the day of the Never Say Never premiere in the UK and my sister, her friend and I were ready on our journey to see our idol when my mom said, “You ready for this?” We looked at each other smiled and screamed YES! We made our way to the Q and we sat down for hours and hours. Everyone was singing Justin’s songs and we joined in. A private jet flew over the arena and I got extremely excited. It looked like Justin’s private jet, I noticed and pointed thinking if that was Justin, maybe he had seen me. We walked near the arena by the gates and found a space right at the front. We waited for roughly 3 hours, they played all of Justin’s songs and all of a sudden the big screen came on and a big black van pulled up and Justin Bieber came out the car with Kenny! My heart stopped beating and already tears were exiting my eyes. We watched Kenny walking side by side with Justin who was tweeting or something. The arena was rumbling and Justin made his was into the arena. As he was being interviewed, he turned his face and blew a kiss. Before I knew it, Justin was making his way around to see and us and thank us. He was coming towards me and I stopped crying. I handed him my book and to my suprise he autographed it for me, then he looked at me and smiled. I was just staring at him for what felt like minutes. My sister didn’t get his autograph and was upset with me. Justin made his way to Cineworld where he would watch his movie. I noticed that Scooter was heading towards me and I asked to take a photo with him, he took my camera and had taken 2 photos. Everyone started to make their way of the arena arena and I was extremely happy that he had noticed me. As we were leaving, someone tapped my sister on her shoulder. We turned around and a women was standing there. She said, “Who are you with?”, so my sister had told her. We noticed she put her hand in her pocket and pulled out Never Say Never tickets to go and watch his movie! My jaw dropped and she said, “but you have to have an adult with you”. This was the best day of my life. All of a sudden, Jon M Chu walked in, followed by Scooter. They both said their speech and said thank you for making this possible and a voice said NEVER SAY NEVER. I reconized that voice and started to cry, it was Justin’s. He walked into the cinema and he was talking to us all for about 5 minutes. He thanked us all for coming and I was jumping up and down. My mum wasn’t a fan of Justin and after watching his movie, she loves him and has so much respect for him. This is a memory that would last a life time and someday it ill be a story to tell my kids.
