A family of four was visiting a local pumpkin patch , in Lancaster County Nebraska when the parents allowed their two children to play in a bouncy house area. Unfortunately, the bouncy castle wasn’t secure and both of the children were thrown into the air. Caleb Acuna, 2, and his sister Gabrielle, 5, were jumping on an inflatable bounce pad at JK’s Pumpkin Patch when a strong gust of wind hurled it into the air, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release . This tragedy happened just moments after the children’s parents Edward and Berna Acuna climbed off the jack-o-lantern shaped inflatable pad. Gabrielle was thrown nearly 30 feet into the air and broke her arm. Unfortunately for Caleb, he sustained a severe head injury after being thrown, more than 100 feet, Raymond Fire Safety Officer Nick Monnier told the Lincoln Journal Star . He did not survive the trauma. The toddler was pronounced dead on Thursday after being taken off life support, the Associated Press reported. Figuring out her identity involved the work of a geochemist who extracted chemicals from Peterson’s teeth and hair. That tests revealed that she lived in the Northeast and ate a balanced diet. An examination of her bone structure yielded an approximate age between 25 and 35. She likely died from smallpox, the team discovered. Census data enabled the team to find out her name, where she worked and other details. It turned out that Peterson was a domestic in the home of a man who was not only the coffin maker but also an abolitionist. Members of the nearby African Methodist Episcopal Church gave Peterson a proper burial. NPR reports that a 7.5 magnitude earthquake that struck along the coastal district of Donggala on Friday caused a massive tsunami. The death toll is expected to rise as rubble is cleared. Mass graves were dug to bury the hundreds of people killed and an estimated 48,000 people are displaced. The European Union and South Korea have offered $1.7 million and $1 million respectively in aid.
