Source: Paul Marotta / Getty Baltimore politician Catherine Pugh has decided to resign from her role as Mayor of the city amid reports of dubious financial dealings tied to her self-published children’s book. According to the Baltimore Sun , Pugh was under increasing pressure to step down after federal agents from the IRS and FBI raided her home and office due to suspicion of fraudulent financial deals. Reports say that various organizations purchased copies of the book “Healthy Holly: Exercising is Fun,” and may have given Pugh as much as $800,000 in exchange for lucrative city contracts, in some cases worth millions. University of Maryland Medical System, where Pugh was once on the board, paid $500,000 for her book, Grant Capital Management gave $100,000 toward helping book sales to “tackle childhood obesity,” and several other huge organizations reportedly gave the former Mayor money. On Thursday, Pugh’s lawyer read a statement from the Mayor, saying: “I am sorry for the harm that I have caused to the image of the city of Baltimore and the credibility of the office of the mayor. Baltimore deserves a mayor who can move our great city forward.” Pugh has been on personal leave since April 1, 2019, after the announcement that the federal government was investigating her book dealings.Baltimore City Council President Bernard “Jack” Young has been serving as acting mayor since Pugh went on leave. At this time, no charges have been filed against the former Mayor.

An attorney for the 49-year-old “Wedding Crashers” star entered a no contest plea to the misdemeanor count Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court. Vaughn was arrested on June 10 at a sobriety checkpoint in the upscale community of Manhattan Beach. According to police, the Wedding Crashers actor repeatedly refused to get out of his car and then failed a field sobriety test and a blood alcohol test. Vaughn ended up being sentenced to three years of unsupervised probation and ordered to complete a three-month alcohol program. According to Page Six , he has also reportedly been advised that if he drives drunk again and kills someone he could be charged with murder.

A 66-year old man is facing aggravated assault charges after firing his gun at two juveniles and an adult who wouldn’t leave the community pool. Richard Marcelle approached the young people, saying that the pool was closed and they needed to leave, despite the fact that the pool was still open. After realizing that the pool was open until 10pm, and it was 9pm when Marcelle approached them, the victims approached the man and told him that they were going to stay because the pool was still open. But Marcelle wasn’t having it. He blocked the victims as they tried to get back into the pool area and then fired a small revolver-style handgun at the soil. Capt. Christopher Roos, with the Ormond Beach Police Department says there are no signs that the trio was doing anything illegal. He added, “[Marcelle] is a member of the HOA and the HOA did actually change the pool hours. However, they hadn’t notified the homeowner’s association members yet or posted it. The video definitely shows him holding a handgun, and you can see where it looks like a round fires off into the ground and you can see the dust from the ground kicks up at the same time.” Thanks to surveillance video at the club house, police identified Marcelle as a suspect in the case. Footage also showed that the victims were unarmed and posed no threat to the man. Marcelle has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and firing a gun.

He also faces the misdemeanor charges of speeding, possession of drug paraphernalia, and marijuana possession. The Memphis rapper was arrested in a Tennessee home along with 20 other individuals in a raid that was the result of a “multi-agency investigation,” according to reports from FOX 13 Memphis . Blocboy’s attorney told the station that another individual was the target of the raid. “They weren’t looking for [JB], and there was no warrant for him personally,” attorney Murray Wells said to FOX 13. “They may have been looking for other suspects on the premises.” The rapper was also arrested in Shelby County on drug and weapons charges back in February.

Source: Eric Audras / Getty Nine-Year-Old Hit By Speeding Car Explains Her Recovery Over a month ago, you might remember the shocking video of a 9-year-old getting hit by a speeding car in her yard. Well now, the young girl is recovering and she’s here to share her story. The viral video that spread across the Internet showed LaDerihanna Holmes playing in her yard, when out of nowhere, a car plowed through the yard and hit Holmes right before driving away. According to Channel 2 , LaDerihanna was left with a broken pelvis, a fractured skull and other injuries. Her friend also faced injuries. LaDerihanna is now at home unable to walk yet. She uses a wheelchair or a walker to get around, and she spends her time going through rehab while being homeschooled. LaDerihanna told Channel 2 that she hasn’t watch the clip of the car crashing into her, however, she does remember the sounds. “Tires screeching,” LaDerihanna said. “My pelvic bone was injured in three places.” DeKalb County police said both the driver and another man inside the vehicle hopped out seconds after the crash, then they took off running. Gabriel Fordham, 28, eventually turned himself into police and remains in jail. He originally said that he lost control of the car because he was being carjacked, however, a judge disputed Fordham’s account. LaDerihanna’s mom also isn’t here for Fordham’s story. “He let (the other passenger) in and they were with him,” Charlette Bolton said. Meanwhile, it’s great to know LaDerihanna is on the journey to recovery. With more rehab, she hopes to have her right leg functioning properly in the future. “I don’t get to do the things I usually do, but I’m OK,” LaDerihanna said. As for Fordham, LaDerihanna had this to say: “I feel like it was a cowardly thing to do,” she said. “You ran me over, but I’m going to get better real soon. Don’t think you hurt me too much.” Bloop! An Ohio student has been banned from attending prom after his school district claimed his promposal sign used racist language. The sign read, “If I Was Black, I’d Be Picking Cotton. But I’m White, So I’m Picking You For Prom.” Janice Wyckoff, the superintendent at Clear Fork Valley Local Schools, told reporters: “To be frank with you I thought, ‘Oh my goodness; this is awful. Kids need to understand, when you’re celebrating things it doesn’t give you a pass on using inappropriate racial slurs. I don’t believe that this is any group think on the part of the student body. This is one person making a bad decision that’s going to reflect on everybody. This is actually a terrible day in the Clear Fork Valley.” The student has not been identified, and Wyckoff doesn’t know if the student is a junior or senior. She added that the student is remorseful, has deleted the social media post and learned the power of his words. Mmmhmm.

Source: Gary Gershoff / Getty Remy Ma In Police Custody For a few weeks now “Love and Hip Hop” star Brittney F. Taylor has been trying to press charges against Remy Ma and she’s finally got her wish. According to TMZ , Remy Ma surrendered to cops Wednesday, accompanied by her attorney. The “All The Way Up” rapper was booked for misdemeanor assault. Taylor alleges that Remy assaulted her during a disagreement while both ladies attended a concert headlined by Fat Joe on April 16th. Reportedly the argument sparked from Remy claiming Taylor had knowledge about an assault on her stepdaughter. Taylor claims Remy punched her in the eye in the attack. After the alleged altercation, Taylor blasted Remy on social media while showing off her bruised eye. She then did an interview with New York Daily News where plead for witnesses to come forward so that she could press charges. So far Remy, who is on curfewed probation , has not made any statements regarding the incident. The story is still developing.
