TRAILER: Could Friends with Benefits Be the Movie No Strings Attached Wished It Was?

Confession time: I love Justin Timberlake. Not his music career, mind you — though who doesn’t love a little ” Rock Your Body ” every once in a while — but his acting one. You can grumble that he jumped the shark with endless appearances on SNL and his performance as himself — er, Sean Parker in The Social Network , but for my money, Timberlake constantly hits it out of the park. He even makes something as disposable as Bad Teacher look moderately watchable in a “Let’s wait to see it on a Wednesday night on HBO2 !” sort of way. All of which is a long way around saying that his presence in Friends with Benefits is key to making this summer rom-com look positively charming.

8 Milestones in the Evolution of Natalie Portman

In this weekend’s surprisingly not-near-as-bad-as-it-could-have-been release, No Strings Attached , Natalie Portman plays a doctor who’s too busy for a proper relationship, and instead creates a pact with Ashton Kutcher that develops into a “sex-only” one. How did Portman transform herself from child star to the odds-on favorite to take home Oscar gold (note: not for No Strings Attached ) next month? You can always trace a direct line through a handful of important roles to illustrate what led to an actor’s current success, and with Portman, that line has been on a steady uphill climb sine her debut in Léon . So let’s look at eight performances — including something called “World Patrol Kids” — that trace the evolution of one Natalie Hershlag.

Movieline’s Saturday Night Live Midseason Awards

It’s almost easy to forget now, but, a year ago today, Kristen Wiig was the dominant force on Saturday Night Live . Today, for whatever reason, that’s not the case. (The recent airing of last season’s A Very Gilly Christmas notwithstanding.) So, with that in mind, now that we are at the halfway point of Saturday Night Live ‘s season, let’s hand out some awards to those cast members who have replaced Wiig at center stage.

Jon Lovitz on Casino Jack, Replacing Phil Hartman and Lorne Michaels’ ‘Cheap Shot’

Jon Lovitz still gets visibly annoyed when the subject of a 1991 Saturday Night Live joke is the topic of discussion. On Dennis Miller’s last show, there was a short sketch where Lorne Michael’s asked Miller, “You’re not going to come back every week to hang out on the set like Lovitz, are you?” (Lovitz, who had left SNL the year before, had made four cameos during Miller’s final season.) When Miller responded, “No,” Michaels continued, “Because that would be pathetic. I mean, the man has no life … I mean, thank God every now and then he gets a movie.” Of course, it was a joke, but that doesn’t mean Lovitz wasn’t livid at the “cheap shot.”

First Spider-Man Set Photos Confirm I Could Get Used to Emma Stone as a Blonde

The Spider-Man reboot is going to be so awesome , if only because it may very well be the first film in the history of Hollywood from which we’ll apparently have paparazzi photos delivered to our desktops every single day , followed by total speculation educated guessing about what’s happening in said photos, thus creating our own parallel Spider-Man universe where gossip, comic-book narratives and photo-agency spoilers converge in a continually evolving fanboy fantasia. Excited yet? Anyway, my point is that my first impression of Emma Stone’s return to her natural blond hair color was wrong: She looks great. Click through for the first shots of Stone, in character as Gwen Stacy, from the first day of shooting.
