Someone We Actually Like: CNN Re-Launches “Crossfire” With Activist And Commentator Van Jones

CNN recently re-launched their classic debate series “Crossfire” with a new lineup. Each week, Yale-educated attorney and two time New York Times best-selling author Van Jones faces off with Newt Gingrich, S.E. Cupp, Stephanie Cutter on the hottest political issues of the moment. Check a clip of Jones & Cupp going toe-to-toe on the issue of Paula Deen’s infamous n-word apology: On the show Mr. Jones, an outspoken political commentator with a long track record of activism and deep community involvement, continues to break down his views on the current political climate while highlighting his unique perspective. The original “Crossfire,” which aired weeknights from 1982 to 2005, examined political and social issues in a televised debate. Check out this vintage clip from a 1984 debate with activist Angela Davis. Apparently since that judge decided Halle had to pay her baby daddy Gabe the big bucks every month he thinks he can ball out without working… According to the July 30th print edition of Star Magazine, Gabriel Aubry has been turning down modeling jobs and living the high life off the $20K monthly child support he receives from Halle Berry: Halle Berry’s unemployed baby daddy French-Canadian model Gabriel Aubry doesn’t know much about making money- but he sure knows how to spend it. In June, a judge ordered the Oscar winner to pay her ex $20,000 a month in child support. Apparently you need an allowance like that when you spend $11,000 on your daughter’s fourth birthday party — as Gabriel bragged in court, according to a source. He dropped “a thousand dollars on the cake alone,” says the insdier. “The money Gabriel spent would pay for an entire year of preschool!” (One very expensive preschool, anyway.) Beautiful Halle, 45, has been supporting her lazybones ex, 36, since they split in April 2010, and, as the friend points out, “it is really hard for her to watch how he spends money that he didn’t earn.” To add insult to injury, Gabriel doesn’t even take modeling jobs when he’s offered them. “He just lives off Halle,” says the friend. Damn… Is this sexist? If Gabriel was a woman, say Kim Porter, or somebody like that — would anybody have anything to say about this? Is Gabriel wrong to be behaving like a stay at home dad? WENN

Seal is tryin’ something new… Via TMZ reports : Seal’s officially done mourning the death of his marriage to Heidi Klum … ’cause the singer has moved on to a smokin’ hot brunette who looks damn good in a bikini … and TMZ has the pics. Just 3 months after Heidi filed for divorce, an extra-sweaty Seal was spotted on a yacht in Italy this week … gettin’ all kissy kissy with a mystery babe after a quick workout session on the deck. There was cuddling … there was smiling … but there was no sign of Seal’s wedding ring. TMZ broke the story, Heidi decided to break off the marriage because she got sick of Seal’s explosive temper. The couple later released a joint statement saying they had simply “grown apart.” Looks like brunettes do it better. Sorry, Heidi.

We all saw Halle flossin a ring on her left hand last week and now here’s the big announcement: Third time’s the charm for Halle Berry! The 45-year-old actress and Olivier Martinez are engaged, a source confirms to the new Us Weekly, on stands Friday. Over the holidays, Martinez, 46, proposed with an emerald-and-diamond ring from Gurhan. Berry, who has a 3-year-old daughter, Nahla, with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry, has been married twice before. (She dated model Aubry, 36, for nearly five years before splitting in April 2010.) She wed former baseball player David Justice in 1993 and divorced four years later. She then married R&B singer Eric Benet in 2001, only to separate in 2003 and finalize their divorce in 2005. She first met French actor Martinez while working on the film Dark Tide; they stepped out as a couple in fall 2010. He previously dated Australian pop star Kylie Minogue for several years before splitting in 2007. We hope “this is it” for Halle this time around. All women (even crazy ones) need love!!! Source

Kerry Washington is going from the big screen to the TV screen in your cozy little home. She stars as Oliva Pope in “Scandal”,a new show on ABC. Washington plays a sassy media relations consultant to the President. She leaves her role at the White House to start her own firm but for some reason keeps getting caught up in the White House drama. This definitely looks and sounds like a good look for Kerry Washington and Columbus Short. When asked about going from the movies to TV, here’s what Kerry had to say: “I was not looking to do a TV show, but I read this amazing script with this amazing woman named Olivia Pope, and it happened to be for TV and so I thought maybe I want to do something different. A “Lil Positivity”: Oprah Winfrey Says She Is Going To Africa To Become A High School Teacher

Damn, word… Oprah Winfrey is back in the USA after spending time with her “girls” at the school she opened in South Africa, but don’t fear, ladies, Miss O will be returning soon in the role of teacher. “They were all stressed for tests, but doing fine,” Oprah emailed fans — including yours truly — about her students. “No major crisis this trip. I love being with them and talking to them about all things important. When I’m there I’m talking from the time I get up till I go to bed, about EVERYTHING teenage girls are going through. It’s the same all over the world.” Oprah revealed that she would be returning this fall to teach a class called ‘It’s Life 101′ about all the stuff she wished someone had told her about how the world really works. “Should be fun since I love to teach. And they’re like sponges,” Oprah said. “Like 12th graders everywhere, this first class is both anxious and excited about going to college. Most will be the first in their family. So it’s a very big deal for them, and they’re feeling the pressure.” Adding that there is nothing like leaving the USA to get a deeper appreciation of the freedoms we sometimes take for granted. For what it’s worth, this is a pretty good idea that should be in every High School. Kids need to know what exactly the “adult world” is about, especially as they are about to enter college. Source
