50 Cent Joins Nicole Scherzinger For ‘Right There’ Music Video

‘Well, I was really wanting to date her,’ 50 says of collaboration. By Matt Elias Nicole Scherzinger and 50 Cent on the set of “Right There” Photo: James Lacsina/ MTV News A sure fire way to get buzz for your single is to invite 50 Cent to feature on it. On Tuesday, former Pussy Cat Doll Nicole Scherzinger took to Twitter to announce that she was doing just that. “Shooting #RIGHTTHERE video w/ my boy @50cent @nicolescherzy & @50cent too hot for all these clothes!,” Scherzinger tweeted , along with a photo of the two on the set. MTV News was also on the Los Angeles set of the video for “Right There,” directed by Paul Hunter. The still-unreleased “Right There,” featuring a verse by Fif and produced by Jim Jonsin , will be the first U.S. single off Scherzinger’s long-awaited solo debut , Killer Love. (A version of the album, sans 50 Cent, is already out in Europe.) “I wanted to kinda keep the video pretty simple because I wanted it iconic,” the songstress said, decked out in an eye-popping orange jumpsuit and olive-green jacket. “The way you get iconic pictures and memorable videos is just by keeping it simple. So we’re in downtown L.A., and we’re just wearing super-fly colors, and we’re just feelin’ it Right now, we just shot a scene, it’s just us against the blue skies — it’s beautiful and we’re just feeling the song.” Fif, who looked dapper in a blood-red trench coat and matching cap, joked that he sought out the collab for other reasons. “Well, I was really wanting to date her,” the rapper said with a grin. “They played the song, and I said, ‘OK, I’ll do it. Maybe I’ll get a chance to do the video and be next to her and see what happens!’ ” Related Artists 50 Cent Nicole Scherzinger

Britney Spears ‘Comes Alive’ In The Studio, will.i.am Says

‘She was like a little kid,’ the ‘Big Fat Bass’ producer recalls to MTV News of giddy, ‘giggling’ Spears. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Sway Calloway will.i.am Photo: MTV News When will.i.am hit the studio with Britney Spears for her Femme Fatale track “Big Fat Bass,” the producer and Black Eyed Peas frontman said the singer was completely engrossed in the recording process. “[I discovered] her love for music. I never seen anyone, like, come alive, full of excitement and giggling and laughing behind the mic,” will recalled to MTV News. “She was like a little kid when she was recording the song and it just brought the whole atmosphere, it changed the whole atmosphere when someone really loves music. So it was great working with her.” Spears expressed a similar sentiment about recording her chart-topping album during her recent “I Am the Femme Fatale” MTV special , which featured a cameo by will.i.am, who was finishing up the party track at the time. “When you’re in the studio, you’re just really focused, you’re really in your head and in your ears and on the notes,” she explains in the show. “And when you’re performing, it’s more a connection on the outside and more of — like a tiger and more in your body.” Both Brit and will are now industry vets so the BEP singer said he didn’t have much advice for the star. “When someone’s excited to go out and just do it, what advice? You don’t need no advice. She’s just turned on right now. She is [like], ‘I like this part right here.’ When I say [on the song], ‘You all better get ready for the kick drum,’ she was already anticipating what she was going to do onstage when that beat broke down,” he explained. “Adding that type of perspective … when we we’re recording it, you don’t need to give nobody [like Britney] advice.” What’s your favorite Femme Fatale track? ‘Thor’: The Early Reviews Are In!

‘A burly slab of bombastic superhero entertainment,’ one critic writes about Marvel’s 3-D take on the mighty Norse god. By Eric Ditzian Chris Hemsworth in “Thor” Photo: Paramount Pictures “Thor” made landfall in Australia over the weekend, as Chris Hemsworth and the cast of this Marvel adaption arrived for the film’s premiere in Sydney on Sunday. Coinciding with the flick’s debut is the release of the first wave of reviews from around the globe. The early word is very good for fans of the Asgardian superhero. “The Marvel universe moves into the cosmic realm with ‘Thor,’ a burly slab of bombastic superhero entertainment that skitters just this side of kitschy to provide an introduction befitting the mighty god of thunder,” writes The Hollywood Reporter in a typically positive review. “It’s a noisy, universe-rattling spectacle full of sound and fury with a suitably epic design, solid digital effects and a healthy respect for the comic-book lore that turned a mythological Norse god into a founding member of the superhero team known as The Avengers.’ ” Chris Hemsworth, who was introduced to American audiences in a small role in 2009’s “Star Trek,” is being dubbed a worthy live-action version of the Marvel hero. “[He] is just as good a fit for the character of Thor as Robert Downey Jr. is for Tony Stark, and that one thing goes a long way to making the film a pleasure to watch,” says HitFix . Many reviews have highlighted the way in which the film has stayed true to the often comedic nature of the source material. ” ‘Thor’ is frequently hilarious, but the humor comes from a genuine affection for the occasionally silly tropes of the comic books, not misguided ‘irony,” writes Australian site The Vine . Lest you think critical opinion has been uniformly positive, we should note that reviews have dinged the movie for a variety of reasons. “While some post converted 3-D has really impressed me (‘Green Hornet’), ‘Thor’ didn’t fall into this category,” says Collider.com . “While watching, I never felt like there was a lot of depth.” Other reviews have taken issue with the rushed pace of the film and a subpar third act. But in general, the early critics agree: “Thor” is a worthy, if hardly perfect, tribute to the beloved comics character. ” ‘Thor’ is everything you might hope and expect it to be, equal parts good and bad. It is the type of movie I would have loved if I saw it at age 10 — and I’m sure this movie will play awesome to younger audiences,” writes SlashFilm . “I still very much enjoyed it, but did not fall in love with it. It falls a couple steps shy of achievements of recent Marvel films like ‘Iron Man,’ ‘The Incredible Hulk’, and even ‘Iron Man 2.’ ” Check out everything we’ve got on “Thor.” For breaking comic book movie news, columns and more — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com . Linkin Park’s ‘Iridescent’ Video: A Dog, A Throne And A Blind King

In the new video for their song from the upcoming ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’ soundtrack, the rockers get ‘abstract.’ By James Montgomery, with reporting by Audrey Kim Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda on the set of their video for “Iridescent” Photo: MTV News Linkin Park lending their music to a “Transformers” movie isn’t exactly a new thing &#8212 the rockers are three-for-three at this point, having just shot a video for “Iridescent,”, the lead single off the soundtrack to the upcoming installment of the sci-fi/action franchise, “Transformers: Dark of the Moon.” What is new this time out is the concept of the video for the song, which, truth be told, is actually pretty confusing … even to the guys in LP themselves. “All I know about the concept is that [Linkin Park turntablist/frequent director] Joe Hahn sent me an e-mail that said something about ‘In the valley of the blind, the one-eyed man is king,’ or something like that,” singer/rapper Mike Shinoda laughed. “And the next thing I know, I’ve got horns growing out of my shoulders, and I’ve got one blind eye, and I’ve got a white dog and a snake on a throne made of antlers. I think you’d have to ask Joe what that all means.” Sounds like Hahn’s been catching up on his H.G. Wells. And while the “Iridescent” clip is just the latest in a long string of Linkin Park videos to be directed by Hahn, it’s perhaps his most out-there work to date. And that’s fitting, considering that ever since the band released their 2010 A Thousand Suns album, they’ve been working very hard at pushing boundaries, too. Then again, to hear the Linkin Park guys tell it, all you need to know about Hahn’s videos is that they are 100 percent his, coming from a place that even his bandmates don’t totally comprehend. “As we’ve gone on, the videos have gotten more abstract,” Shinoda said. “[And] I kind of like that, I’ve been encouraging it with Joe, because … the stuff that goes on in his head is really interesting and really fun, and I think it probably comes from the fact he grew up reading a lot of comics, watching anime, those things. Especially in a video like this, you can tell the influences are there.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Transformers: Dark of the Moon.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Tyga Visits ‘RapFix Live’ On Wednesday!

Compton-born Young Money MC will join host Sway and take your questions on New West-themed edition of the show on MTV.com. By Alvin Blanco Tyga Photo: Christie Goodwin/ Getty Images Tyga will join us on this Wednesday’s special New West edition of MTV News’ “RapFix Live.” The Young Money rapper will only chat it up with host Sway, but we’ll have an in-depth look at some of the Cali rap acts that are making L.A. a go-to hip-hop destination once again. As always, we’ll also be taking your questions! Last year, the Compton, California, rapper caught an inadvertent hit when his Chris Brown collabo, “Deuces,” from their joint mixtape, Fan of a Fan, burned up the airwaves, landing at #1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Tyga and Brown went on to earn a Grammy nomination in the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration category for the song he co-wrote, and he’s now prepping his forthcoming album, Careless World. Before connecting with the YMCMB, Tyga was already making a name for himself on the L.A. rap circuit. In 2008, he dropped his debut single, “Coconut Juice,” which featured his cousin Travie McCoy. Soon Tyga became acquainted with Lil Wayne — the two appeared together on a remix to Fall Out Boy’s “Arms Race” — and signed on with Young Money a year or so later. Tyga cemented his place in the crew by contributing to Young Money’s hits “BedRock” and “Roger That.” Tyga is hoping to prove his patience will pay off as he’s waited in the wings for fellow YMCMB teammates Drake and Nicki Minaj to launch their careers. The first singles from Careless World, “I’m On It,” featuring Lil Wayne, and “Really Raw,” featuring Snoop Dogg and Pharrell, have heads checking for the project’s release. And earlier this year, Tyga revealed a Drake collaboration will be included on it too. We’ve already spotlighted Nipsey Hussle and Casey Veggies and our New West coverage will continue on “RapFix Live” with closer looks at the movements of Black Hippy (Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul and School Boy Q) and Odd Future. Apart from the insight into the diverse underground rap sounds coming out of L.A., we’ll also be examining its party and dance scene . Find out what else is in store from Tyga and the rest of the YMCB crew when he sits down for his interview on the “RapFix” couch. The “Deuces” rapper will be taking questions from the audience via Twitter, @MTVRapFix with the hashtag #rapfixlive. Fans can also upload video questions for Young Money’s next star via Your.MTV.com . Tune in on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com. Stick with us all week as MTV News turns the spotlight on the New West, including a special edition of with Cali’s own Tyga on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com. We’re bringing you the next wave of hip-hop acts helping restore faith in the L.A. rap scene. From groups like Odd Future to rising MCs like Dom Kennedy, we’ll bring you up close and personal to these artists as they carve their own lanes in the post-gangsta rap era. Keep it locked here for the next week for more on the West Coast up-and-comers! Related Videos Tyga Is Coming To ‘RapFix Live’ Related Artists Tyga

‘Glee’ Star Ashley Fink Recalls Her Law-Breaking Past On ‘When I Was 17’

Actress tried bolting from the police after violating midnight curfew. By Sterling Wong Ashley Fink Photo: MTV News “Glee” breakout star Ashley Fink will be the first to tell you she’s not the most rebellious person in the world. So how did she end up running from the cops? Ashley reveals all in this week’s episode of “When I Was 17.” No, Ashley did not commit any felony — but she did break a curfew. “My mum was pretty strict, and so only going out with my oldest sister was allowed,” she explains on the latest episode, which premieres Saturday at 11 a.m. ET on MTV. “And so we’d go to City Walk to see movies on weekends.” According to Ashley’s sister, Stephanie, the City Walk entertainment complex had a curfew, and if someone underage was out after that time, the police would begin handing out citations. “So we went out, and we saw some horror movie,” Ashley recalls. “And we got out at like 12:03 a.m., and I remember seeing the curfew police and being like, ‘No!!!’ “So I literally took off. I bolted. If I had just walked out of the theater and been cool and walked to the car, then nothing would’ve happened. But of course, I was like, ‘Ah! I’m breaking the law!’ and bolted down City Walk. So [the police] came after me and I was literally cornered. It was ridiculous!” According to Ashley’s friend Brandon, “Ashley was probably the most timid person when it came to breaking the rules,” so imagine her fear when she was caught by the curfew police. “They were like, ‘What’s your name?’ And I was like, ‘Ashley.’ And then, ‘What’s your last name?’ and I was like, ‘Green?’ I was like, ‘Think of a color!’ recalls Ashley, who demonstrated some impressive lying skills there. Fortunately for the actress, her sister Stephanie swooped in to save the day, apologizing to the police, and saying that it was Ashley’s birthday, and so the police let her go. “I felt so guilty. But then again, I was so hardcore! I ran from the police on City Walk. Crazy!” “When I Was 17” — this week featuring Jeremih, Shay Mitchell and Ashley Fink — airs on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET/PT on MTV. Lady Gaga Drops ‘Judas’ Early

Dark, synthy track premiered on London radio station on Friday. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga Photo: Bruce Glikas/FilmMagic When you’re Lady Gaga , scheduled premiere dates mean absolutely nothing. Her next single, “Judas,” was originally slated to drop April 19, but Capital FM in London played the song days earlier, during the radio station’s “Home Run” program on Friday afternoon (April 15). The RedOne-produced track finds Gaga in familiar territory, singing about a lover she knows might not be right for her, but whom she just can’t resist. “Ohhh, I’m in love with Judas,” she opens on the track, accompanied by building synths. Soon a thumping electronic beat kicks in as Gaga sings, “Judahhh/ Juda-a-ah/ Gaga.” The battle cry is reminiscent of the one in “Bad Romance.” Gaga’s vocals are partially spoken, and at times she seems to have a Caribbean accent. She laments, “When he comes to me I am ready/ I’ll wash his feet with my hair if he needs/ Forgive him when his tongue lies through his brain/ Even after three times, he betrays me/ I’ll bring him down, I came with no crown.” The tone lightens up a bit more on the song’s chorus, which throws back to ’80s pop in melody, as the beat picks up a bit and Gaga sings, “I’m just a holy fool/ Oh, baby, he’s so cruel/ But I’m still in love with Judas, baby.” After the second verse and chorus, the song breaks down into a churning house song as Gaga chants in much the same way she does in the middle of “Born This Way.” Then she sings, “I wanna love you/ But something’s pulling me away from you/ Jesus is my virtue, Judas is the demon I cling to, I cling to.” A day before she decided to release the track early, Gaga tweeted this message for her fans: “#PawsUpForJudas! I’ve learned love is like a brick, you can build a house or sink a dead body.” The song is Born This Way ‘s second single, following the phenomenal success of “Born This Way.” The album hits stores on May 23, and the video for “Judas,” directed by Gaga and her creative director Laurieann Gibson, is expected to premiere in the coming weeks. “Let the cultural baptism begin,” Gaga said of the track in a Gagavision video earlier this month. “If they were not who you were taught they would be, would you still believe?” What do you think of Lady Gaga’s “Judas”?
