Crazy Chair Chattin’ Clint Eastwood Defends His Cray RNC Speech

He thinks Obama’s the ‘greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people’. Too bad we think he’s finally lost his marbles . “President [Barack] Obama is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people,” Eastwood told the paper. “[Mitt] Romney and [Paul] Ryan would do a much better job running the country, and that’s what everybody needs to know. I may have irritated a lot of the lefties, but I was aiming for people in the middle.” Eastwood sounded far from defensive over criticism of his self-described “very unorthodox” speaking style, freely admitting, “I really don’t know how to” give a traditional public address. He added: “That’s what happens when you don’t have a written-out speech.” In his opinion, Eastwood said his critics in the media “are obviously on the left” and would be critical of him no matter what he said. As for Eastwood’s fans? Well, not all of them loved the speech, but it doesn’t seem to have changed their affection for the Academy Award winner. “They’ve got this crazy actor who’s 82 years old up there in a suit,” Eastwood said. “I was a mayor, and they’re probably thinking I know how to give a speech, but even when I was mayor I never gave speeches. I gave talks.” As for his now infamous conversation with an empty chair, Eastwood says he came up with the idea just moments before taking the stage. “There was a stool there, and some fella kept asking me if I wanted to sit down,” Eastwood said. “When I saw the stool sitting there, it gave me the idea. I’ll just put the stool out there, and I’ll talk to Mr. Obama and ask him why he didn’t keep all of the promises he made to everybody.” Right…we’re still confused why the heads over in Republican land thought Mr. Burns Clint was the best choice. Economic Crisis: 96,000 Jobs Added, Unemployment Rate Falls To 8.1%

U.S. Economy Added 96K Jobs, Unemployment Falls To 8.1% SMH: U.S. employers added 96,000 jobs last month, a weak figure that could slow any momentum President Barack Obama hoped to gain from his speech to the Democratic National Convention. The unemployment rate fell to 8.1 percent from 8.3 percent in July, but only because more people gave up looking for work. The government only counts people as unemployed if they are actively searching. The Labor Department also says 41,000 fewer jobs were created in July and June than first estimated. The economy has added just 139,000 jobs a month since the beginning of the year, below 2011′s average of 153,000. The bleak report comes just two months before Election Day, and the economy is the top issue on most voters’ minds. Source

Happy 51st Birthday, President Obama!

The 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama turns 51 today. We’re guessing he could use a vacation, but that it’s not an option. Between grappling with a stagnant economy and unemployment rate, widespread global instability and a climate that is very much in flux, there’s the small matter of running for re-election in November of this turbulent year. Simply put, he’s in the fight of his life. Can Barack get it done!? Recent polls have Obama and Republican Mitt Romney in a tight race for the presidency. Win or lose, this one’s going down to the wire this fall. Whichever side of the political spectrum you’re on, you have to admit that the man’s got a tough job. At the very least, Obama could use some birthday wishes right now. Hang in there, Mr. President. Enjoy your Saturday. In honor of this special occasion, here are some Barack and Michelle Obama pics : Four more years?

Andy Murray Cries During Wimbledon Runner-Up Speech

Andy Murray’s Wimbledon runner-up speech left the tennis star in tears Sunday afternoon, and likely had more than a few onlookers welling up, too. With girlfriend Kim Sears, along with Kate and Pippa Middleton , looking on, Murray wept in a post-match interview following his loss to Roger Federer. When a BBC interviewer asked him about the emotions he felt over the fortnight, he (and Sears) broke down while the Centre Court crowd applauded …
