‘Hangover Part II’ Trailer: Five Key Moments

First full trailer shows return of Ken Jeong as Leslie Chow. By Eric Ditzian Ken Jeong in “The Hangover Part II” Photo: Warner Bros. Kanye West’s “Dark Fantasy” playing during the trailer’s opening moments tells you everything you need to know about “The Hangover Part II”: “Can we get much higher?” Apparently we can. At least Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms) and Alan (Zach Galifianakis) can as they drop into Thailand — or “Thigh-land,” as Alan calls it — for Stu’s destination wedding. The “Hangover Part II” teaser trailer gave us a taste of the sort of madness the sequel to 2009’s blockbuster comedy would deliver. But the first full trailer, which popped up online Thursday evening, gives us a more robust — and occasionally more raunchy — idea of exactly how these three jokers once again end up effed up and racing to get back to their loved ones. Here are our picks for the five key moments from the trailer. The Worst Rehearsal-Dinner Speech Ever Stu should know that as soon as Alan gets up to give a speech in front of friends and family, things are not going to go well. No sooner does Alan say he can never speak of what happened in Las Vegas (during the events of the original film) then he proceeds to do just that. “This is not Stu’s first marriage. There was a whore in Las Vegas a couple of …,” he declares before being cut off. Besides being highly inappropriate and pretty darn funny, the speech lets us know that the storyline of the sequel takes place a few years after Vegas, perhaps in real time following 2009’s “Hangover.” Teddy Is Bad News Stu’s bride-to-be comes up with one unfortunate idea when she suggests the guys go out for a drink and take her little brother Teddy along. Cut to the next morning and, once again, one seriously vicious post-party hangover. Teddy is missing. The boys have somehow landed in Bangkok. And Stu can’t return to his bride until he locates her bro. Is Teddy the one responsible for dosing them with drugs and kicking off their misadventure? Alan promises that, unlike last time, it wasn’t him. Teddy seems a likely culprit. Although there’s also … Leslie Chow?! As Phil says when they find him in their dive of a hotel room, “Chow, what are you doing here?” That’s a great question. Well, apparently he is Alan’s plus one, whatever that entails. And according to Chow himself, “We had a sick night, bitches!” Though the way in which he figures into the plot remains to be seen, it’s great to see 2010 MTV Movie Award winner Ken Jeong back in the mix. Stu, Unleashed Blink and you’ll miss it, but around the two-minute mark, we get a glimpse of Stu going buck-wild on what looks to be the streets of Bangkok. Is this a peek at what happens before the hangover sets in? Or perhaps Stu lets loose a second time? It’s impossible to tell when exactly this scene takes place, since the left side of his face — the one that bears a Mike Tyson-esque tattoo — is not revealed to the camera. Call PETA! Let’s just put this out there: Director Todd Phillips digs masturbation humor. In “Hangover,” he had Galifianakis take advantage of a baby. In “Due Date,” he had Galifianakis do unclean things to a dog. And now, it’s a monkey’s turn: After hiding a water bottle under a monk’s robes, he has the animal simulate, well, let Zack explain: “When a monkey nibbles on a weenus, it’s funny in any language.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . AP‘s ’Fact Check‘ Hammers Obama’s Speech

WASHINGTON (AP) — There may be less than meets the eye to President Barack Obama’s statements Monday night that NATO is taking over from the U.S. in Libya and that U.S. action is limited to defending people under attack there by Moammar Gadhafi’s forces. In transferring command and control to NATO, the U.S. is turning the reins over to an organization dominated by the U.S., both militarily and politically…. ‘Battle: Los Angeles’ Tops Friday Box Office

Alien invasion flick bests ‘Red Riding Hood’ and ‘Rango’ to claim top spot, while animated ‘Mars Needs Moms’ tanks. By Shawn Adler Michelle Rodriguez in “Battle: Los Angeles” Photo: Sony Pictures It showcases an epic battle between aliens and humans, but it turns out that the biggest winner of the weekend isn’t going to be Aaron Eckhart or the extra-terrestrials he faces in “Battle: Los Angeles,” but an entirely different, third combatant: the film itself. Led by an all-star cast headlined by the “Thank You For Smoking” star, “Battle: Los Angeles” topped all comers at the Friday night box office with an estimated $13.5 million from 3,417 theaters. The story of a surprise war waged by aliens for control of Earth, the flick should eek out approximately $40 for the weekend and another number one opening for the star of “The Dark Knight” in his first return to big budget action. The secret to the film’s success? Not treating an alien invasion movie like an alien invasion movie, director Jonathan Liebesman told MTV News . “This is a more down and dirty alien movie,” Liebesman said. “This is like if [‘Bourne Supremacy’ director] Paul Greengrass got a camera, saw some aliens, and shot it from the point of view of a platoon. It’s literally like ‘Black Hawk Down,’ if there were aliens in there. Like Iraqi war footage, but with aliens running around.” You’d be forgiven, meanwhile, for saying of the second place film, “My, what a big gross you have,” as the Brothers Grimm by way of Stephanie Meyer revisionist fairy tale “Red Riding Hood” scared up $5.7 million to claw its way near the top. The Catherine Hardwick directed and Amanda Seyfried starring film may seem to be similar to that little Kristen Stewart movie, but that doesn’t mean it’s just “Twilight” with a cape, Seyfried told MTV. “It’s a bummer that that’s what’s happening,” Seyfried told us . “I mean, it does surround a girl coming of age in a love triangle, but that’s a lot of movies. The truth is, it’s an entirely different story.” In third place, last weekend’s winner “Rango” managed a very healthy $5.5 million. The Johnny Depp starring flick about a chameleon who finds himself leading a small desert town as sheriff should bring its total to approximately $70 million by weekend’s close. In fourth place, “The Adjustment Bureau” starring Matt Damon and Emily Blunt managed a $3.4 million Friday. The biggest disappointment of the week was “Mars Needs Moms,” the newest animated film from Disney. Using motion capture technology and based on a story from Pulitzer Prize winner Berkeley Breathed, the reportedly expensive film managed just $1.8 million Friday and a fifth place finish. Among other films, “Beastly” scored $1.6 million for a sixth place finish, while “Just Go With It” managed an eighth place finish and $1.2 million. The Adam Sandler led comedy should pass $100 million sometime early next week. Rounding out the rest of the top ten, “Hall Pass” earned $1.5 million to come in seventh, “The King’s Speech” grabbed $1 million to finish ninth, and “Unknown” ran away with $975,000 to land in tenth.

MPAA Whisperer Harvey Weinstein Gets PG-13 For Miral

Good news, kids: Less than 48 hours after Julian Schnabel’s public dismay over the “R” rating for his new, youth-focused Middle East drama Miral , the MPAA has come around with a PG-13. A tsunami of youngs will no doubt ensue at the art house when the film opens March 25 via… who else? The Weinstein Company, whose MPAA -whispering godfather Harvey Weinstein also happened to shake off Blue Valentine ‘s NC-17 last fall. (To say nothing of his forcing of The King’s Speech’s R-rated square peg into a PG-13 round hole .) Congrats to the whole team! [ THR ]
