Tim Urban Says Shirtless Picture ‘Helped More Than It Hurt’ On ‘American Idol’

‘I don’t perform for the people who don’t like me; I perform for the people who want me to be onstage,’ he says. By Katie Byrne Tim Urban performs on “American Idol” Photo: Frank Micelotta/ Getty Images Tim Urban might have lasted on “American Idol” longer than fans expected, but those extra weeks actually gave him a chance to redeem himself after being lambasted by the judges week after week. But he reached a little too high with his cover of the Goo Goo Dolls’ “Better Days” during “Idol Gives Back” week and was sent packing Wednesday night. During a conference call with reporters after his elimination, he opened up about his good attitude through all the criticism, Vote for the Worst’s support and that shirtless picture . Q : Simon complimented you on your attitude in the competition, that you took everything positively. What did it mean to you that they recognized not only how you grew as a performer, but also appreciated the way you came across? A : That’s actually something that was my goal on the show. It was not just to improve as an artist, but to just be a very good contestant and to take what everybody was saying and to just treat the situation — not let it get me down, but to take what they were saying and work at it and improve, but also, not to really complain or to talk back. Just take the criticism and work from it. It was cool to get that recognition about that. It’s something that I’m very proud of. Q : What would you say to your critics who thought you only lasted as long as you did because of your good looks and charisma? A : Oh, wow. I don’t think that I would respond to that. It seems that people just like to take somebody and then find something that they don’t like about them and talk about it. I get that. It’s part of dealing with the industry. It’s part of being in the spotlight. So people are going to say that, but people are going to say that about pretty much anybody. You’ll find people that don’t like any artist out there, and so you have to deal with it, shrug it off. I don’t perform for the people who don’t like me; I perform for the people who want me to be onstage, so those are the people that I try to worry about. Q : What did you think when the shirtless picture of you hit the Web? A : I kind of knew it would come out eventually. I didn’t really expect it to be as big as it was, because it kind of blew up really fast. That was kind of a little crazy, but I just took it in stride. It’s part of the show. Everybody is looking for something in the backstory. Everybody is looking for an extra story, so it’s just one of the stories that people decided to run with. I just try not to worry about it too much. Q : Do you think it helped or hindered you? A : Kind of both. I definitely heard that it helped, but then there are also people who might see that and not take me seriously, just because of that type of thing. I don’t know; I think it probably helped more than it hurt, but I don’t really know for sure. Q : Last year, we heard a lot about contestants’ religious backgrounds and their experiences singing in church. How has your religion influenced your time on “American Idol”? A : My personal belief has really shaped pretty much every aspect of my life. I grew up in a very Christian home, and that set of morals and just that upbringing has shaped me musically, has shaped me as a person, and just, I don’t know, it’s kind of hard to explain, because it’s pretty much who I am. So it’s not just a part of my life. Q : What did you think about VoteForTheWorst.com backing you? A : I’m not excited that I was on their website. I think that it’s really not anything that anybody should be proud of. I really didn’t like being on there, and basically I was working my hardest to get off of it. Yes, I’m actually kind of sad that I was on that website at all. Q : What do you want to do next? A few people have floated the idea of you teaming up with Disney or appearing on “Glee.” A : You know, I would love to do music. I would love to pursue that, and I’m hoping that that door opens up, but I also have always had a desire to act, and to just be in that side of the entertainment industry as well. So I would be really excited if I got the opportunity to do that as well. I’m just waiting to see what happens, but I’m open to any of that at this point. I’m really just excited about the whole thing. Were you sad to see Tim go? Will you listen to his post-“Idol” music? Let us know in the comments below! THG Exclusive: Ashley Dupre on Playboy Photos, Being a Call Girl, Love, Jersey Shore & More

Two years ago, Ashley Dupre – or “Kristen” as she was known to Eliot Spitzer – became embroiled in one of the biggest sex scandals ever, as the Governor of New York State was snared in a prostitution sting. He was Ashley’s client. After removing herself from the spotlight, she’s back in a big way next month as Playboy ‘s cover girl for May. Suffice it to say, she looks amazing. Below, in an exclusive interview with The Hollywood Gossip, Ashley Dupre tells us: Why she took part in the world’s oldest profession Why she chose to bare all for the men’s magazine What she looks for in a man, and much more … THG : Did you ever struggle with or question the morality of your past profession? Ashley Dupre : I was young, I was stupid, and I’ve made a lot of mistakes. Going back to the profession after being out for 11 months (before I got caught) was the hardest thing that I’d ever had to do up until that point. I was in a relationship during those 11 months, which helped me learn self worth and self respect. I had dreams and goals and I was living a normal life during that time. When the man I was dating left me after 11 months, he left me with debt and responsibilities above my means. In order for me to be able to pay off my debt and move out of my apt I had to go back to work for a little bit. At that moment, I felt like I had too much self respect to return to that line of work, so it was hard for me to go back. I felt like I was above that. But I had to. So I did. Do I feel bad about what I was doing?

How Fame Has Changed Kristen Stewart

In the latest issue of Flaunt magazine, Kristen Stewart admits she’s just like many girls her age. Not because she smokes, though readers are still debating whether or not this makes her a bad role model . Instead, the actress tells the publication that she can be as insecure as anyone, especially with the spotlight now on her. “I definitely act differently. I’m definitely overcoming a lot of it. The only insecurity I’ve developed is just being overly paranoid about everyone looking at you when they’re not,” she says. Stewart is also aware that she come across as unfriendly. While Robert Pattinson knows the real Kristen, many others do not and this is why: “I get defensive and that has probably perpetuated people’s idea of me never smiling. I kind of shake my leg too, so people think I’m always uncomfortable.” In an attempt to let fans in more, Stewart explained her motivation behind choosing movies: “Who knows what you’re going to connect with and then be able to live up to? I can’t just read a script and say it’s great because there’s a part for me, my age, perfect—I can’t live that life. You know what I mean? That’s just not me.”

A Woman Says Something Nice About Steven Seagal

Here’s something you see about as often as Kate Gosselin choosing her kids over the spotlight: A female, former employee of Steven Seagal has gone on record with nice things to say about the actor. When contacted by TMZ, Sonam Choezom – who served as Seagal’s nanny in 1996 – said Seagal offered to move her ailing father from Nepal to the America, while employing Choezom as his babysitter so she could afford her dad’s health care bills. Sonam said she is “very surprised” by the sexual harassment lawsuit filed by Kayden Nguyen because the actor was “always very nice and respectful” to her. He never once tried to touch her vagina for ” a second to see what it felt like .” Seagal could definitely use this kind of good news. While his attorney denies all claims, more allegations have surfaced against the actor this week: Ex-wife Kelly LeBrock said she will release “many shocking things” about her former husband in an upcoming book. The granddaughter of music legend Ray Charles, Blair Robinson , filed a document that accused Seagal of harassing her in 2004. Movie critics have wondered whether Seagal actually marked for death in the 1990 action flick Marked for Death .

Emilio Masella: Dumped By Snooki Via Voicemail

Emilio Masella, the Gold’s Gym trainer who began dating Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi in January, is finally speaking out about the Jersey Shore star. Namely, how he got dumped over the phone. Voicemail even. “I told Nicole I tried out for Real World and she was upset,” Masella told People , confirming that he had in fact tried out for another MTV show. “She thought I was using her for the show which is ridiculous.” An argument ensued, and at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, he received a voicemail from his angry girlfriend saying, “You’re nothing. You’re single.” Emilio Masella was confused and tried to call her back, but she hung up on him. What he didn’t expect were the allegations of infidelity. “I’d never cheat on her, I love her,” he says, and he is not pleased with Snooki hooking up with her costar Mike “ The Situation ” Sorrentino. “I talked to her yesterday and was like, I’d never do something so low,’” he says. “She said she hadn’t hooked up with anybody either – but she freakin’ lied. She put out there that I cheated, and now the tables have turned . It sucks.” Indeed. And for the record, Masella assumed she’d be supportive, not critical, of his Real World audition: “I never asked for anything. She’s the one that pulled me into the spotlight, bringing me all these places. It seems like she’s jealous.” Masella adds that Snooki was also worried that he was hanging out with girls, although he claims 80 percent of his friends are female. “I talked to her yesterday afternoon and I fought with her,” he says. “I [told her] she has no reason to be mad – and she hung up on me. I told her, ‘You can’t expect me to stay home and never go out if you’re gone for two months.’” “I’m not a scumbag. She’s being jealous and spiteful. I don’t know if she [broke up with me] on purpose so she could hook up with Mike … I knew [her time on set] was going to be crazy, but I didn’t think it was going to be this crazy.” We just can’t wait for Season 2 to air.

Some Pam Anderson Hepatitis Back in a Sheer Dress of the Day

I am tired of Pamela Anderson, but probably not as tired as Pamela Anderson is of being Pamela Anderson. I don’t know if that makes sense, but it’s probably a lot of pressure trying to be sexy, when knowing you’re nothing but an old hag, but you do it because you think it’s expected out of you, cuz that’s the person you created. You know wearing sheer dresses as your plastic surgery you got when plastic surgery was in its infancy melts off your face, and your liver struggles to filter your blood because you let dirty rockstar dick inside you and now it’s gonna lead to your premature death, if your heart doesn’t give out from all cocaine you are on because it is the only thing that makes you feel good about yourself, cuz you know you’re done, and Dancing with the Stars is your last Waltz under the spotlight before you are forgotten, at least that’s what you look like….maybe it’s time for another sex tape…one we watch to laugh at instead of watch to jerk off to like we did back in the 90s….maybe that’ll only come when other shitty reality shows for failed stars reject her…Only time will tell… Pics via PacificCoastNews

M.I.A.’s Lady Gaga Comments Stir Mixed Reactions From Fans

‘She sings about riding disco sticks and gets called a genius for it,’ one fan wrote in agreement with M.I.A. By Jocelyn Vena M.I.A. Photo: Michael Loccisano/ FilmMagic M.I.A. has opened quite a can of worms for herself. After taking a few shots at Lady Gaga in an NME interview, calling Gaga “a good mimic” and “not progressive,” fans of both ladies are speaking out for and against the rapper’s comments. “M.I.A. is not even on the same level as GaGa. She only got her 15 seconds of fame because ‘Pineapple Express’ put her song into the trailer. Did anyone give a damn about her before? Nope,” Gabriel wrote. “I respect Lady GaGa a lot more because she worked her way towards where she is. She’s innovative and she’s a talented entertainer and song writer. Have I seen any of those qualities in M.I.A.? Not at all. She’s just trying to get back into the spotlight, but I doubt anybody will care.” Theboogieman631 noted that regardless of their artistic integrities, comparing the two artists is like comparing apples and oranges. “I don’t see how anyone can compare the [two]. Their music doesn’t sound remotely the same,” he wrote. “They’re both on different ends of the spectrum.” Victor defended M.I.A.’s comments, noting that the rapper “is just being honest people and she’s not jealous. Gaga is a mimic nothing more nothing less, she sings about riding disco sticks and gets called a genius for it,” Victor continued. “Her videos rival the advertisements during the Superbowl … Everything she does is a rip off of either Grace Jones, Madonna, Rosin Murphy, Bj
