Cullen Finnerty, a star quarterback at Grand Valley State who briefly played in the NFL for the Baltimore Ravens and Denver Broncos, has been found dead. Details are still coming him and the cause of death will remain unknown until an autopsy is performed, but Finnerty disappeared on Sunday and his corpse turned up last night in the woods of northern Michigan. Lake County Undersheriff Dennis Robinson says foul play is unlikely and that a family member described Finnerty as “nervous about something” the last time they talked on the phone. His loved ones are concerned that he suffered a “mental episode” of some kind, according to Robinson. Finnerty, 30, led Grand Valley State to three Division II national titles and over 50 wins during his four years as a starter. He had short stints with the Ravens and Broncos in the pros. Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly, who coached Finnerty at Grand Valley State, said in a statement: “It’s very chilling. He led me to a national championship as a true freshman. When I left, coach Martin took over and won two more national championships. My heart goes out to the family and to his beautiful wife.”

Maurice Jones-Drew Not Charged With Battery According to TMZ The St. Augustine PD is doing some hardcore backpedaling … admitting they ACCIDENTALLY told the media Maurice Jones-Drew was charged with battery, when in fact, he hasn’t been charged with anything … yet. Earlier today, the S.A.P.D. issued a statement to the media … which stated very clearly, “The [S.A.P.D.] has filed charges of misdemeanor battery against Jacksonville Jaguars player Maurice Jones-Drew that stemmed from an altercation at the Conch House ‘Reggae Sundays.’” Now, a rep for the S.A.P.D. tells TMZ … they screwed up and “misrepresented” the situation. According to cops … no charges have been filed against Jones-Drew, however, he IS being investigated for allegedly punching a security guard in the face … and is a “person of interest.” Cops say Jones-Drew and his attorney are being cooperative with the investigation. Doctor Suggests Patient Orally Satisfy Husband To Treat Gag Reflex A California physician has been reprimanded by the medical board and continues to face backlash after one of his female patients revealed that the doctor suggested that doming her husband off twice a week would help treat her gag reflex. via Huffington Post J. Peter Zegarra, a California doctor, has been publicaly reprimanded by the state’s medical board after he told a patient to practice oral sex on her husband. The patient had expressed concerns her gag reflex would interfere with an upper-gastrointestinal endoscopy, according to CBS affiliate KOVR. The patient, an unidentified woman, complained that the Sacramento-based colo-rectal surgeon told her to practice oral sex on her husband “twice a week” prior to the procedure as a way of allaying the reflex. According to CBS Sacramento, Zegarra made the suggestion in front of the woman and her husband “several years ago.” The station also noted Zegarra had tried twice to expunge the complaint from the public record. Zegarra’s name appears on a summary of administrative actions taken by the California board of medicine in 2007. CBS Sacramento reports that a spokesperson for the state board of medicine called the doctor’s suggestion inappropriate, even if it was meant as a joke. This guy ain’t isht. Georgia’s Republican governor has refused to endorse Wilcox, GA’s first integrated prom for one small town, claiming that he doesn’t want to take sides on the issues. Via RawStory reports : Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal (R) has refused through a spokesperson to endorse one town’s first-ever integrated high school prom, saying that he would rather not take sides on the issue. According to Atlanta’s WMAZ Channel 13, politicians from both parties have stated their support for black and white students from Wilcox, Georgia, but Deal declined to join them. Raw Story spoke to activist Bryan Long of the progressive group Better Georgia, whose group has asked Georgia elected officials “to publicly support the students of Wilcox County who are fighting to end a ‘separate-but-equal’ high school prom.” “We thought it would be nice if our elected officials would support these students,” said Long. “They’re taking a great stand in their community. We thought that officials all across the state should send a message to the nation that we’ve moved beyond the racial divisions of the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s.” He added, “We were surprised to read that the governor’s spokesperson said that he wouldn’t be ‘taking sides’ on this issue. I didn’t know that there were sides to take.” Deal spokesperson Brian Robinson told WMAZ on Thursday that Deal is refusing to endorse the integrated prom because of Better Georgia’s bipartisan initiative. “This is a leftist front group for the state Democratic party and we’re not going to lend a hand to their silly publicity stunt,” wrote Robinson. “The kids want to have an integrated prom,” said Better Georgia’s Long. “It’s the 21st Century, Gov. Deal. Get with it.” “The fact that we even have segregated proms in Georgia in 2013 is shocking all buy itself,” he said, “but to have a governor say that he doesn’t want to support the students who are trying to change that horrible tradition? That’s just cowardly.” “We really didn’t think this was going to be a divisive issue,” he concluded. “Plenty of Republicans have already come out to support the kids. So, for the governor, who’s supposedly an opinion leader in the state to just say, ‘I’ll sit this one out,’ well…I didn’t think that was possible.” Wilcox High School was integrated decades ago, but parents have put up their own money for annual private parties rather than have an integrated prom. Students created a Facebook page dedicated to hosting an integrated dance and said they were “embarrassed” that no one had done it before. When is this jerk up for re-election? We sure hope people smarten up and get rid of his azz because he’s clearly not helping the South make any progress. A video posted on YouTube by the Georgia Democratic Party in 2010 shows Deal making a litany of racially-insensitive comments, including, ”We fought against the extension of the Voting Rights Act, you may remember that”; “my wife tells me she can look at her sixth-grade class and tell which one’s going to prison and which one’s going to college”; and that he had “no idea” where President Barack Obama was born. Glenn Beck’s biggest nightmare has come true. The former Fox News host blasted MSNBC on his radio show yesterday, taking the network to task for a promo that features Melissa Harris-Perry telling viewers that “kids belong to whole communities,” not just their parents. Watch the ad in question now: MSNBC Promo: Your Kids Belong To Us “It’s almost a parody of reality,” Beck said of the spot. “It is so far beyond what we have ever thought as a nation, it’s remarkable.” Beck didn’t stop there, of course. He connected the clip with far larger issues plaguing society, things he has “warned” folks about for years. “I think that there’s a good 20 to 30% of America, maybe even higher now… [that] will gladly have the State take that over so they don’t have to worry about it,” he ranted. “Yet another one of your responsibilities taken from you – I’m sorry. Another one of your responsibilities that you will gladly hand over because you don’t know what to do. And so they will do it for you: Don’t worry! We’ll raise your kids. We’ll train your kids. We’ll educate your kids because it’s working out so well.” We sense some sarcasm from the pundit at the end there.
