Former Disney star talks to MTV News about ‘taking risks’ in her upcoming flick. By Cory Midgarden Selena Gomez Photo: MTV News NEW YORK — Selena Gomez is all grown up. The former “Wizards of Waverly Place” actress has traded in her Mickey Mouse ears for a two-toned bikini and a whole lot of scandal in the upcoming “Spring Breakers.” “People will be a little shocked, I think,” Gomez told MTV News while promoting her new self-titled fragrance in New York on Saturday. “I’m a little nervous about it but honestly it’s a right step for me, I’m really proud of it.” Also shaking their squeaky-clean images in the flick are “Pretty Little Liars” star Ashley Benson and Disney alum Vanessa Hudgens. The film follows the girls as they head to Florida for spring break, where they find themselves behind bars after robbing a restaurant. “I think as an actress it really challenged me,” Gomez said. “All of the other actresses are also trying to prove themselves, so it was just really, really fun.” Although Gomez is taking more chances with both her acting and music, there is still one role that is a little too racy for the 19-year-old: “Fifty Shades of Grey.” “I know I’m taking risks but I don’t think I could do that,” she told MTV News. “That would be a little too much for me.” Gomez became familiar with the hot and heavy storyline after being approached to star in Funny or Die’s “Fifty Shades of Blue.” “When they told me about the skit, I didn’t know what [‘Fifty Shades of Grey’] was about, so I started to read it and was like, oh, this is spicy, I thought it was good, it was intriguing,” she said. “The skit was really funny.” So with all of this research under her belt, who does the 19-year-old think should play S&M-loving Christian Grey’s object of affection? “Someone older should do that part,” she replied. ‘Dallas’ Reboot: Meet The New Oilmen (And Women!)

Times, they are a-changin’, with more and more networks opting to debut new material during the summer months. One of the most buzz-worthy new summer offerings is TNT’s reboot of “Dallas,” a modernized version of the hugely popular and iconic ’80s nighttime soap. Fans of the original, which ran from 1978 to 1991, should be delighted to know that Larry Hagman and Patrick Duffy are still front and center as the show’s leading men, but they are joined by a slew of fresh young faces. Here’s a look at the new blood in “Dallas,” which kicks off Wednesday night (June 13): Josh Henderson as John Ross Ewing Why you recognize him : Henderson has been sowing his oats in nighttime soaps for quite some time. Most recently, he appeared on “90210” and as Edie Britt’s nephew on “Desperate Housewives.” Eagle-eyed viewers and/or WB buffs might also remember seeing him compete on “Popstars,” winning a spot in the group Scene 23. Why you’ll love him on “Dallas” : Because he plays the spoiled, wealthy, manipulative bad boy, a perfect heir to the original J.R.’s love-to-hate-him shtick. Everyone loves a bad boy, right? Not to mention the fact that Henderson is very easy on the eyes and is actually a Dallas native. Jesse Metcalfe as Christopher Ewing Why you recognize him : Metcalfe got his start on a straight-up soap opera, “Passions,” but he is best known from his breakout role on “Desperate Housewives” as Gabrielle’s (Eva Longoria) jailbait love interest, along with roles in a few feature films, including “John Tucker Must Die.” Why you’ll love him on “Dallas” : As the adopted son of Bobby and his first wife Pam, Christopher has a big ol’ chip on his shoulder and a lot to prove. By Rob Markman Nas Photo: MTV News No doubt, Nas versus Jay-Z was rap’s most intriguing battle. Even though the artists have made peace, there is something about the legendary clash of the lyrical titans that piques the interest of rap fans, even though more than a decade has passed. Earlier this month, a video titled “Nas Hanging Jay-Z” popped up on YouTube, giving a behind-the-scenes look at the over-the-top stunt God’s Son had planned for Hot 97’s 2002 Summer Jam concert . Before he pulled out of the all-star hip-hop concert, Nas had plotted to perform a mock lynching of his then-rival Jay-Z onstage, but these days, the Queens, New York, rap legend does not want to feed into the negativity. “I really don’t even want to acknowledge it,” Nas told MTV News on Tuesday. “Everybody’s in a different place. I don’t even want to acknowledge it. I can’t acknowledge that. Jay’s my man, and that’s that, that’s all I’m gonna say.” You can imagine Nas’ difficulty with the subject considering he and Hov buried the hatchet years ago, but back in 2002, things were rocky, to say the least. A year after Jay-Z debuted his Mobb Deep and Nas dis track “Takeover,” Nas aimed to return the favor with an attack of his own on Hot 97’s storied Summer Jam stage. Things didn’t work out as planned: Once the radio station caught wind of Nas’ intentions, it put constraints on his performance and he pulled out of the show. The recently unearthed video documented the creation of an animatronic Jay-Z figure that Nas wanted to hang and the gallows from which he planned to hang the figure. Nas did not appear in the clip, but it was edited with his 2001 track “What Goes Around” playing in the background. It was the hottest story in rap at the time, but 10 years later, it comes off as a moot point. In 2005, Nas and Jay-Z squashed their beef onstage at Power 105.1’s Power House concert in New Jersey, and then a year later, God’s Son signed to Def Jam Records , where Jay held a position as label president. The two have since collaborated on a number of songs, including “Success,” “Black President” and Ludacris’ “I Do It for Hip-Hop.” Should Nas acknowledge the recently unearthed video? ‘That’s My Boy’: How Adam Sandler Met Andy Samberg

The two have a lot in common, after all. They have the same initials. They both dabble in musical comedy. They’re both “Saturday Night Live” veterans. Indeed, Samberg’s Sandler fandom is hardly a secret — he spoke with us all about his adoration for the Happy Madison founder during MTV Sneak Peek Week late last month — but it’s less clear how Samberg came onto Sandler’s radar for a starring role in “That’s My Boy.” ” ‘Saturday Night Live,’ ” Sandler told MTV News at the movie’s junket when asked how he first became aware of Samberg. “I saw his name, and I knew we had similar names. I asked, ‘Why does this kid want to be me so badly?’ ” he joked. “He’s a nice kid and a funny kid. I started watching him and I realized this kid is damn good.” In “That’s My Boy,” which hits theaters on Friday (June 15), Sandler plays Donny Berger, a washed-up ’80s-era celebrity best known for getting his math teacher pregnant early in high school. He names his love child Han Solo and feeds him a steady diet of cake and New Kids on the Block tattoos; in short, he’s an awesome dad. Somehow, Han grows up to become Todd Peterson (Samberg), a very traumatized but successful finance whiz who, on the eve of his wedding, comes into contact with his father for the first time in years, much to his chagrin. Sandler and Samberg have the starring roles here, but they’re not the only big names in the movie. There are major roles for music icons Rob “Vanilla Ice” Van Winkle and Ciara as well, surprisingly enough. According to the leading men, Ice and Ciara’s relative newness to the comedy scene didn’t prevent either one of them from rolling with the punches on set. “Ice kills it even more than I thought he would,” Samberg said. “You meet him and he’s so nice and obviously he’s nice with the rhymes, but he played some real comedy scenes.” As for Ciara, she “was just likable and nice and just a good person,” Sandler said. “And she’s pretty good-looking. Yeezy’s girlfriend tweeted out a photo of her new pair, which just happen to match her rapper beau’s solid black sneaks with hot pink and neon blue detailing. Her message simply reads, “His & Hers! #AirYeezys.” Kanye’s gift to his reality star girlfriend comes just days after she gave the rapper a $750,000 Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 for his 35th birthday . Kimye has certainly been making headlines since the pair started dating earlier this spring. The pair has been spotted all over the globe, hitting up the Cannes Film Festival in May , where the MC premiered his “Cruel Summer” film. TMZ reported that both Kanye and Kim put their Los Angeles-area homes up for sale, leaving some to wonder if it means that the reality star and the rapper will soon be cohabitating. Considering that “Cruel Summer” actor Aziz Ansari recently shared that Yeezy plans to premiere the artsy 30-minute short all over the U.S. in the near future, we imagine there will be more Kimye sightings soon. Usher Hopes ‘Scream’ Will Be the Song Of The Summer

Usher has ruled the airwaves in the summer for years, with hits like “You Make Me Wanna” and “U Remind Me” making fans roll down their windows and pump up their radios to his infectious tracks. Most recently, in 2010, Usher hit the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 during the summer months with his inescapable hit “OMG,” and now he’s looking to repeat that success with “Scream,” the second single from his seventh studio album. “Let’s get going, summer is almost here!” Usher told MTV News. “It’s intended to be that, but I don’t think that was the only thing. We thought about live performance, we thought about mixing and matching and also giving people an energy that only [producer Max Martin] would be able to create.” “Scream” is the latest single from Usher’s just-released album, Looking 4 Myself, which he hopes will not only get people on the dance floor, but also affect them in a more personal manner. “If I’m gonna move you, I want to move you. I hope that it could be something that could be life-changing,” the singer last month during “MTV First: Usher.” “You may be going through something real crazy, who knows, and just need to get out and just enjoy yourself. So I always think about the club, I always think about that song that will be able to let you out of that slump, if you’re in it.” Usher’s latest album, which he called an “evolution” of sound , is just the next step in his musical risk-taking. He credits longtime producer Jermaine Dupri with the opportunity to reach many different genres of music. “If I do track back to the first time I was about to take a risk, even though it wasn’t about my direction, it was more so by Jermaine Dupri’s direction with ‘You Make Me Wanna,’ ” Usher said. “You didn’t really hear that tone or that instrument on top of an R&B record, so it was an incredible collaboration or mixture of urban and classic R&B or pop… that really began to open up the conversation and allow people to understand, ‘Oh, wow, this is not just an artist that you could put in a box or put in a specific category.’ ” Are you excited for Usher’s album? At the Capital FM Summertime Ball in London on Saturday night, in front of a crowd of 80,000 screaming fans, this 26-year old hit the stage and broke out her ridiculously catchy smash single, only to be eventually joined by the artist who signed Carley Rae to his label in February… Mr. Justin Bieber! Sing and dance along to the duo now, as Justin joins his protege around the two-minute mark and these two prepare to go on tour together this summer: Carly Rae Jepsen (feat.
