Russell Brand Plans Some Movie Awards Lady-Killing

Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart are definitely on our newly single host’s radar for Sunday’s show. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Russell Brand Photo: MTV News When it was announced that all-around funnyman Russell Brand was hand-selected to host the 2012 MTV Movie Awards , no one was more excited about the news than Brand himself — particularly when we presented him with a list of the lovely leading ladies who would also be present at Sunday’s show. When we let him know that Kristen Stewart, Emma Stone, Mila Kunis and Charlize Theron would all be on hand, there was a lot of whistling on his part. “I don’t watch things like [‘Twilight’],” Brand said when Stewart was mentioned, but he did offer up a nice whistle. “I don’t know, I don’t know why I would watch it. But for the people, I like the good-looking boys. Robert Pattinson and him with the tummy,” he said, speaking of Taylor Lautner’s storied abs. “I met him. He was really handsome.” Brand’s tales of celebrity run-ins did not end there: It turns out the “Rock of Ages” star had a very memorable encounter with Stewart’s “Snow White and the Huntsman” co-star, Charlize Theron. “Oh my God. She’s amazing, isn’t she? [I met her], and it was embarrassing,” Brand revealed. “I messed it up bad. I met her and didn’t recognize her. I was at a party, and I was looking at birds . She came over and [said] something untoward. And I showed off like an idiot, not recognizing her.” Once Brand realized his mistake, he was distraught. “I thought, ‘Oh no! I didn’t use any of my moves!’ ” he recalled, before adding that Sunday’s awards show might present him with the perfect opportunity to reintroduce himself. “It’s a new day, it’s a new dawn, it’s a new life,” he said, wondering, “Is she single?” Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for your favorite flicks now! T.I.’s Trouble Man Will Be ‘More Aggressive Than Paper Trail’

‘All of my albums are basically a reflection of where I am in my life at that moment,’ Tip tells ‘RapFix Live.’ By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway T.I. on “RapFix Live” Photo: Natasha Chandel/ MTV News Heavy is the head that wears the crown, but don’t fret: The King of the South has it all figured out. Throughout his career, T.I. has delivered various types of records, catering to different audiences, and though he has continually messaged that his next album, Trouble Man , will be a return to his aggressive style of rap, Tip has a little something for everyone. “All of my albums are basically a reflection of where I am in my life at that moment in time,” T.I. told MTV News’ Sway Calloway when he appeared on “RapFix Live.” “So the biggest difference in the man that I am today and the man that I was then, I guess musically, it’s gonna be more aggressive than Paper Trail . Back in 2008 when Tip dropped Paper Trail, the album that housed two of his biggest hits — the Justin Timberlake-assisted “Dead and Gone” and “Live Your Life” featuring Rihanna — he purposely stayed away from his usual trap music because he was facing federal weapons charges at the time. Now that he has completed his prison sentence, the Atlanta rapper doesn’t have the same constraints, so fans can expect to hear hustle-heavy tracks not unlike his 2003 single “Rubber Band Man.” Still, on the upcoming Trouble Man, Tip plans to satisfy fans who not only appreciate his underground work, but those who crave his Top 40 hits as well. He calls it a “high-class problem.” “There are so many classes of people and so many different demographics that are looking to T.I. to redeliver their favorite song,” he explained. “I’ve come to the conclusion that when you service one group of those fans, then there’s gonna be another group of fans who feel like, ‘He should’ve done what I wanted him to do.’ So you just gotta serve each group, so I’m servicing each group at a time.” How much are you looking forward to Trouble Man ? Robert Pattinson’s Next Movie: A Modern-Day ‘Bonnie And Clyde’?

‘Twilight’ producer says Pattinson would be ‘fantastic’ in the big-screen adaptation of ‘The Professionals.’ By Kara Warner Robert Pattinson Photo: Getty Images When it comes to knowing the comings and goings of Robert Pattinson , we’d like to consider ourselves experts, or very much in the know with regard to what movies we can expect to see the “Twilight” superstar make next. We know about his roles in “Bel Ami” , “Cosmopolis” , and of course “Breaking Dawn – Part 2” , but what do you think of Pattinson tackling a modern-day thriller a la “Bonnie and Clyde”? When MTV News caught up with “Twilight” producer Wyck Godfrey recently to discuss Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s chances of another Best Kiss win at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday (June 3), he revealed that he and Pattinson might be cooking up some post-“Breaking Dawn – Part 2” work plans, in the form of a big-screen adaptation of a crime thriller. “There’s a book called “The Professionals,” which is a new crime thriller that Rob has read and really likes,” Godfrey said of Owen Laukkanen’s well-received debut novel. “We’re just starting to look at a writer [to adapt it]. It’s kind of a ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ for today, and he would be fantastic in the role. It’s in the early days; we’ll see.” A modern-day version of “Bonnie and Clyde” sounds gritty and violent no matter which way you look at it. We asked Godfrey if he sees this potential big-screen crime thriller as a PG-13- or R-rated film for Pattinson. “Possibly R,” he said. “[Rob’s] an adult now.” Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for your favorite flicks now! Rihanna, Radiohead Pick Up O Music Award Nominations

After fans submitted new nominees, RiRi and Radiohead are in the running for O Music Awards, which stream live on June 27. By James Montgomery Rihanna Photo: Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images/DCP The O Music Awards have always been the least traditional awards show. And as if this year’s edition — which will stream live online on June 27 over the course of 24 hours … aboard a bus with the Flaming Lips behind the wheel — wasn’t already proof of that point, well, try this on for size. Thanks to fan suggestions, the O Music Awards have expanded their list of nominees, meaning that acts like Rihanna and Radiohead have picked up nods, and 30 Seconds to Mars are now tied with the Lips, Taylor Swift, Tanlines and MC Hammer (!) as the event’s most-nominated act. RiRi picked up a nom in the ( very prestigious)Best Artist With a Cameraphone category — she’s up against the likes of Justin Bieber and Kreayshawn — while Radiohead are now up for the Digital Genius Award, facing off against Gorillaz, iamamiwhoami and OK Go (to name just a few). 30 STM earned a nod for Best Online Concert Experience, which, when coupled with their Fan Army FTW nomination, means they’ll head into the awards show with a total of two noms. So far, more than 2.7 million votes have been cast in all the O Music Award categories. For a full list of nominees and to vote for your faves — including Nicki Minaj and One Direction — in each category, check out the show’s official site . The O Music Awards will stream live at OMusicAwards.com on June 27, when the Flaming Lips will board the Magical Mystery Merry Prankster Bus and attempt to break Jay-Z’s record for playing the most concerts in one 24-hour period.

Justin Bieber Rooting For ‘Bridesmaids’ At MTV Movie Awards

Singer shares his fond memories of the Movie Awards, which always have him ‘laughing and having a great time.’ By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Kara Warner Justin Bieber Photo: MTV News Justin Bieber ‘s fondness for the MTV Movie Awards dates back to a time way before his 2011 nomination for Best Jaw-Dropping Moment. “My first memory?” he pondered to MTV News. “I remember just watching it from a young age and always laughing and having a great time.” While he didn’t nab any noms this year, he is hoping that “Bridesmaids” walks home with a Golden Popcorn trophy when the 2012 MTV Movie Awards go live this Sunday. “I liked ‘Bridesmaids.’ I need to see ‘Hunger Games’ again. I need to see it because I went there the first night it came out and I feel asleep because it was like super-late. But I need to see it again,” he explained, before breaking down why he loved the raunchy female comedy so much. “I just think it was funny. It’s kind of like the female version of ‘The Hangover,’ ” he said. “I thought it was funny.” Expect more memories to be made and lots of Golden Popcorn statues to be handed out (maybe even to “Bridesmaids”) when the 2012 MTV Movie Awards take place this weekend. The show will be hosted by Russell Brand and feature performances by Fun. , the Black Keys, Martin Solveig and Wiz Khalifa . It all goes down from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California, on Sunday. Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for your favorite flicks now! Exclusive ‘That’s My Boy’ Clip: Hot For Teacher

Andy Samberg and his co-stars present the clip during Sneak Peek Week, leading up to this Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards. By Kara Warner Justin Weaver in “That’s My Boy” Photo: Columbia Pictures Are you ready for the raunchiest, most inappropriate-yet-hilarious father/son comedy of the year? Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg are hoping so with Sandler’s first-ever R-rated comedy, “That’s My Boy.” MTV News premiered the film as part of our second annual Sneak Peek Week ahead of the 2012 MTV Movie Awards , and a slew of the film’s stars were on hand to help present an exclusive clip to the lucky audience: Samberg, Vanilla Ice, Will Forte, Ciara, Milo Ventimiglia and Eva Amurri. The film revolves around deadbeat dad Donny (Sandler), who got his teacher pregnant when he was just a teenager and raised his son Han Solo Berger (Samberg) as a single parent until Han turned 18. After a financial mishap, Donny reappears in Han’s life on the eve of his wedding. As Donny tries desperately to reconnect with his son, who has changed his name to Todd, Donny must face the consequences of his terrible parenting. The clip provides the background — or an explanation of sorts — for how teenage Donny ended up sleeping with his teacher. In a nutshell, the teacher started it. We see teenage Donny (Justin Weaver) sitting in what appears to be detention for writing an inappropriate note about his teacher (Amurri), who asks if he has a crush on her. Donny looks visibly uncomfortable with the question, particularly after she says, “So, you don’t want me?” and takes her hair out of a ponytail and twirls it around her fingers. “No!” says Donny. “Yeah? I don’t know what I’m supposed to say right now!” “Is that gum in your mouth, Donny?” she asks, putting her hand in front of Donny’s mouth so he can spit the gum out, which naughty teacher puts into her mouth and begins to chew. As is the case with many a Sandler comedy, the scene is both funny and gross at the same time. If you enjoyed the clip, don’t miss the rest of our Sneak Peek Week action with stars from “Magic Mike” and “Rock of Ages,” all leading up to the 21st annual MTV Movie Awards live on Sunday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET. LMFAO Hope They Have The Movie Awards ‘Anthem’

Kid Cudi, Chemical Brothers, Figurine and College/ Electric Youth also up for Best Music at Sunday’s show. By Kevin P. Sullivan LMFAO Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images The right song can make a normal scene in a movie one that goes down as a classic, and pairing a scene with the perfect backing tune can shed new light on a song you thought you knew. So for the MTV Movie Awards , we honor the music that met the perfect movie and made the magic happen. Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to cast your vote and make sure your favorite takes the stage this Sunday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET to collect the Golden Popcorn. Here’s our rundown of the Best Music nominees: College and Electric Youth’s “A Real Hero,” “Drive” If “Drive” had been just a straightforward crime thriller like a synopsis might suggest, it would have amounted to nothing more than an average genre entry with a pretty face attached. Instead, director Nicolas Winding Refn infused every inch of this new cult classic with ’80s nostalgia, including an electro-fueled soundtrack, led by the College/ Electric Youth collaboration “A Real Hero.” The pick could seem odd at first, but as soon as it kicks in and all other sound fades away, everything just clicks. Figurine’s “Impossible,” “Like Crazy” Young lovers inevitably come to adopt songs as meaningful and important to the memory of their relationship. Appropriately, last year’s “Like Crazy” featured a killer soundtrack, suitable for the impossibly cute first love. “Impossible” comes up during one of the more difficult moments in the film, when our ocean-crossed lovers are apart and old memories keep new ones from taking. It added a layer of reality and depth to a scene that felt straight out of real life. Kid Cudi’s “Pursuit of Happiness” (Steve Aoki dance remix), “Project X” When it comes to throwing the world’s greatest house party, a badass playlist lands at the top of the to-do list, right below “invite people.” Just a quick glimpse at the clip proves that there’s nothing quite like this Kid Cudi/ Steve Aoki jam to party till the sun comes up or the cops kick everyone out. LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem,” “21 Jump Street” Now if you’re more in the mood for party music to get stabbed in the back to, LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem” may be more up your alley. The song turned out to be the perfect accent to Schmidt and Jenko’s first big house party as fake high-schoolers, and it showed that you shouldn’t let something like a pesky knife wound ruin your rager. The Chemical Brothers’ “The Devil Is in the Details,” “Hanna” Similar to “Drive,” “Hanna” uses fairy-tale motifs and a frighteningly memorable score from the Chemical Brothers to elevate what would have otherwise been a rather typical Bourne rip-off. The music adds a whole other level of danger and makes the tale of a tween-age master assassin all the more sinister and disturbing. Kristen Stewart Recalls Her ‘First Time’ With ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’

During MTV’s Sneak Peek Week, the actress and ‘Snow White’ co-star Sam Claflin remember their erotic MTV ‘After Hours’ segment. By Fallon Prinzivalli, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Kristen Stewart Photo: MTV News You may recall a little MTV “After Hours” segment called “Erotica,” in which Josh Horowitz had the cast of “Snow White and the Huntsman” read an excerpt from “Fifty Shades of Grey.” While Chris Hemsworth could barely make it through the reading, Kristen Stewart laughed at some of the lines, Charlize Theron attempted to act out the scene and Sam Claflin wooed us with his luscious tone. When we caught up with Stewart and Claflin again for MTV’s Sneak Peek Week , leading up to Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards at 9 p.m. ET, we asked the “Twilight” star if reading the erotic tale sparked her interest in the role of the timid Ana Steele. “They should ask me!” she joked. “No, I’m kidding. [During ‘After Hours’], that was the first time I read it.” Stewart is currently up for two Movie Awards along with her “Breaking Dawn” co-stars. Through the Movie of the Year and Best Kiss categories, she has a shot at the coveted Golden Popcorn. Voting is still open, so head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to make your voice heard! And who knows, maybe “Snow White” will grab some nominations next year. Until then, we’re pretty sure Sam Claflin has a future in erotica books on tape. “To be honest, having watched that back, I took it way too seriously,” the actor laughed as he recalled the “After Hours” video. “All four of us did very different readings, but I actually properly read it. I got really into it.” Stewart didn’t disagree. She gave it a good try, but Claflin is unbeatable. “What happened to Sam before he was an actor? I was trying to get a job,” he joked. “I will do anything for money.” Horowitz brought out all three books in the “Fifty Shades” trilogy wrapped in a ribbon for both actors as a going-away present. Now they have their own copies of E L James’ series to take with them as they travel. Though don’t expect to see KStew reading her copy as she jets off to and from LAX. “When people read this on airplanes,” she said, “I’m like, ‘Whoa. Take that blanket off your lap! Get off the plane. Sick!’ ” Claflin, however, has a different reaction. “I’m like, ‘Can I borrow that after you?’ ” Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for your favorite flicks now!
