Taboo Defends The Black Eyed Peas Halftime Show

If you were looking for energy and many bright lights, The Black Eyed Peas Super Bowl halftime performance went perfectly on Sunday. But if you tuned in hoping to hear perfect sound mixing and smooth vocals, you were one of the many critics disappointed in the results. Black Eyed Peas Halftime Show In a new interview with Pop Eater, group member Taboo acknowledges a few “technical problems,” but defends the performance overall, explaining: The thing about it is there were 100 million viewers. If you get 60 million people who didn’t like it and you get 40 million that did like the show, that’s a pretty cool thing because you can’t please everybody. Everybody who is a critic is going to criticize and annihilate everything you do even if it’s a good thing. They just want to bring it down. As many people who are blogging about how disappointed they were, there’s a lot of people in the streets who really loved the show. What did you think of the performance?

Britney Spears Collabo Is ‘A Monster,’ will.i.am Says

Black Eyed Peas frontman calls Femme Fatale track ‘something that today needs.’ By James Dinh Britney Spears Photo: Frank Micelotta/Getty Images Days after his glow-in-the-dark Super Bowl XLV halftime performance, will.i.am is already working on his next high-profile gig: a collaboration with Britney Spears . After the “Hold It Against Me” singer tweeted about the team-up Tuesday, the Black Eyed Peas’ leading man opened up about his studio session with the pop princess. “I just came from the studio right now,” Will told The Associated Press . While hesitant to give away details, he did gush about the tune, emphasizing the song’s place in today’s music scene. “It’s a monster,” he said. “It’s mean, pretty, edgy, next level. But the beat just … It’s that beat. She’s singing fresh over it. It’s something that today needs.” While many fans were pleased to hear about the pop partnership, some weren’t so keen on a tweet will.i.am posted shortly after Spears’ collabo announcement. It read, “I just found out some people don’t tweet themselves they have teams of tweeters for them … Wow.” After Team Britney went after the producer, he clarified his sentiments : “Britney tweets for herself I saw it with my own eyes when we recorded in the studio today,” he wrote. “She’s such a sweet heart she’s a perfectionist. You guys read into things way to hard … shame on who ever thought I was talkin about britney … so sad people want to start things.” In the end, Will reverted the focus back to his tune with the pop star, tweeting, “The song I did with britney is ganna be crazy fresh. from the super bowl to the studio workin on a mega smasher. can’t wait till its done.” As Britney continues her daily tease-a-thon for the “Hold It Against Me” video , which will premiere February 17 on MTV, her collaboration with will.i.am might be one of her final studio sessions in completing her new album, Femme Fatale . Scheduled to drop March 29, the LP is expected to include production credits from Dr. Luke, Max Martin, Rodney Jerkins, Stargate, Fraser T. Smith and Bloodshy & Avant. One producer who might not be making the final cut, however, is William Orbit (Madonna’s “Ray of Light”), according to one of his latest tweets. “did a song w Klas Ahlund, who wrote ‘Piece of Me’. And is killa. But not on FF apparently. But a good song is a good song regardless,” he wrote. What do you think Britney and will.i.am’s collabo will sound like? Tell us below! Super Bowl Instant Replay

It’s the day after the Super Bowl .  Cue the commercial critiques.  Every year, people are underwhelmed at the commercials.  After watching many Super Bowls and analyzing people’s responses, we have come to realize that the disappointment is more to do with the unrealistc expectations the commercial have every year and less to do wtih the commercials actually sucking more than any other year. With that being said, there were some commercials that people universally liked.  We’ve taken liberty to choose some. The first, above, was the Bud Light Dog Sitter commercial.  It was brilliant.  We saw dogs doing everything from waitressing, to bartending to DJing. Joan Rivers arguably took the place of Betty White this Super Bowl season.  Although Joan’s commercial wasn’t as good as Betty’s Snickers commercial, it was better than Betty’s replacement in the Snicker’s Super Bowl ad this year , Roseanne Bar .  Joan was like Betty in that her career is really on a steady incline proving that age isn’t anything but a number. Since GoDaddy is known for having young, hot spokeswomen, the reveal of Joan River’s was unexpected to be least.  Never mind that her head was plastered on a rocking body.  Joan has been going around today telling everyone how great her body is. Best Buy’s commercial was a riot. Ozzy Osbourne wasn’t just pretending not to know who Justin Bieber was, he really  doesn’t know who Justin Bieber is .   Bieber and Ozzy couldn’t be more different so that fact that they’re in this commercial making fun of that is hilarious. Pepsi Max was all over the Super Bowl.  This commercial was particularly great because the thoughts that the guy and the girl are each having inside their heads are so typical of every first date. Any commercial that can manage to get several classic TV shows and modern sitcoms into one spot is phenomenal.  It’s fitting that the NFL itself was behind this great commercial.  The ad shows all the sitcoms referencing the NFL over the years with the tag line that the NFL has the best fans. Car ads were also all over the big game.  Most of them were straight to the point and rather boring.  It’s for that reason that the Donny Deutsch created Darth Vader commercial was the best of the car ads.  The kid behind the mask is all over TV this week so catch him if you can.

Who Scored Big in Week 14 of SNL’s Not-Ready-for-Prime-Time-Player Relevancy Poll?

With Dana Carvey hosting, Saturday Night Live basically split into two separate shows: The Dana Carvey show from 1989, and the 2011 show which, unfortunately, took a back seat to nostalgia. Carvey was pretty much the star of every sketch, regulating a lot of the usual names at the top of this poll to second fiddle — yet allowing many of the lesser-used cast members to get their shot.

The Trailer for Sundance-Beloved Submarine: Rushmore with a Hat Phase

For a certain sect of Internet dwellers, the name Richard Ayoade means something major. Or at least major enough that when Community creator Dan Harmon recently posted on his Twitter page that the British comedian/actor/director would get behind the camera for an upcoming episode, at least one or two people in your circle of friends probably started hyperventilating at the thought. Well, before sending those friends this trailer for Ayoade’s directorial debut Submarine , you might want to suggest they pick up a paper bag.

VIDEO: Kid from Adorable Darth Vader Volkswagen Commercial Also Adorable

For the record, Movieline HQ was buzzing about the Darth Vader Volkswagen commercial days before it aired on the Super Bowl. OK, so was the rest of the Internet, but, still! It was easily the best ad of the night — sorry, Eminem and Timothy Hutton! — and had the Super Bowl party I attended coursing with delight after it aired. One surprising question did arise, however: Was that an actual child underneath the Darth Vader helmet, or a little person? As one friend theorized, the hand gestures and acting seemed too good to simply belong to a precocious six-year-old. Except for the fact that apparently they did.
