Nicki Minaj Explains Her Concept Behind Grammy Performance

Originally posted here:

Okay so um, Nicki Minaj probably made history for the worst Grammy performance EVER! First she shows up on the red carpet with a Pope (he’s wearing all-white of course) while she poses in an all red cape (assuming she’s the devil, I really have no idea..*shrugs*) But fast-forward to the performance, thinking Nicki would perform one of her hits and just kill it, she performed some type of demonic ritual/exorcist on stage. Everything went left field, leaving viewers baffled, confused, and disgusted. “Nicki chatted with Ryan Seacrest and explained the concept behind her Grammy performance as well as her decision to walk the red carpet with a Pope. She also spoke on what it was like to work with an icon like Madonna for the Superbowl as well as her initial disappointment in M.I.A for flipping the bird during the half-time show.” On why she walked with the religious figure on the red carpet He is major part of the story and the movie that I’m writing about one of my alter egos. His name is Roman. Basically the religious figure is there because he was called on by Roman’s mom to rehabilitate him. On her Grammy “Red Riding Hood” outfit I wasn’t going to do the red carpet. I was backstage preparing to have my performance outfit and not do a carpet and go and sit down. My people wanted me to do it. I had this amazing robe made for me by Versace sent from Milan. I said, “Oh, my God I have to wear this. They were so generous. They sent me so much stuff  and I was originally going to wear it during the performance, but when I got it, it was a little heavy for the performance. I said, “Hey, it’s only one way to do it and that’s the red carpet.” On The decision to perform “Roman Holiday” First of all, The Grammys chose ‘Roman Holiday.’ The producers of the Grammys came into the studio, and they heard ‘Roman Holiday’ and I could not play them another record after they heard that. They went crazy. I could have chosen to do a no-brainer pop song, but I can’t do it anymore. I have to stay true to what I’m doing. Seeing how comfortable I was last night, I was like, “Oh, my God”, this was the best choice because my fan base, the Roman Empire and the Barbz they understand every single thing that I’m doing because Roman was created two years ago. Roman isn’t something new just coming out. I’ve been writing the story for a very long time and yesterday was his coming out party. Laurianne [Gibson] is such a good friend of mine and she did an amazing job bringing my vision to life. It was very literal if you know who Roman is and what he’s all about but if you don’t know the Roman character then you have to kind of digest it. On the concept of the performance I had this vision for him to be sort of exorcised—or actually he never gets exorcised—but people around him tell him he’s not good enough because he’s not normal, he’s not blending in with the average Joe. And so his mother is scared and the people around him are afraid because they’ve never seen anything like him. He wanted to show that not only is he amazing and he’s sure of himself and confident, but he’s never gonna change, he’s never gonna be exorcised. Even when they throw the holy water on him, he still rises above.” On Working with Madonna for the Super Bowl Meeting Madonna changed my life. Working with Madonna changed my life. Rehearsing with Madonna for two weeks changed my life. You look at these amazing women you have to realize that a lot of work goes into this. I for the first time refused to do anything. I didn’t go to any parties. I didn’t do anything. This performance was it. This is the first performance that I’m proud of  in my entire career because I saw Madonna’s outcome when she sacrificed, and how she rehearses and rehearses. Everyone there was like, “Oh, my God we got it” and she was like,” No, I want you to know this choreography in your sleep.” You know what? We did know it in out sleep by the time we got on the Super Bowl stage. When I saw that, it inspired me so much… the same way [Lil] Wayne started really becoming a beast as a rapper. The Madonna situation inspired me to give it my all in terms of rehearsal and in terms of bringing my vision to life. In terms of you know what, “Hey, I’ll pay for this performance myself because it means that much to me.” On M.I.A. flipping the bird during the half time show My first feeling was disappointment only because of my respect for Madonna. Even though I’m a coco lady too but I would never be able to do it off of the strength of Madonna. There are fines that goes into these things  so I just thought “Oh, my God I hope they don’t penalize Madonna.”  In hindsight, Madonna knows what kind of artist M.I.A is and it was her decision to take that risk with all of us. She [Madonna] has done some crazy things to become the icon that she is, and I think that’s why she was able to forgive M.I.A…. Me personally, I couldn’t see myself doing that. Just out of respect for Madonna, because I just wouldn’t want any backlash coming back on Madonna. Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj had some words on twitter for folks that weren’t happy with her Grammy Awards performance (some went as far as calling her a devil worshipper). She tweeted: Were they offended by ‘the devil inside’??? Shut-up & watch the movie bitch! #ThrowsPopcornATtheBackOfYoHeadHoe! lmaoooooooooooooooooooooooo Not, 2, Not 1…I wish I at least had a point five percentile worth of f*cks to give right now. Bewp! > RT @DeeTheeNinja: If she was up there half naked and popping her cuka nobody would be saying sh-t….Basic hoes! Thanks to NecoleBitchie.com. Listen to Full Audio.

Kevin Youkilis Engaged! To Tom Brady’s Sister!

Kevin Youkilis is keeping it all in the Boston family. The Red Sox third baseman is engaged to Julie Brady, according to The Boston Herald , the sister of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. Youkilis first met Julie – a teacher and the mother of a five-year old daughter – at a 2010 party thrown for the Patriots party after they was knocked out of the 2010 playoffs. She’s one of the signal caller’s three sisters. The engagement announcement comes as a time when both Boston stars could use some good new: Brady and the Pats lost in the Super Bowl last weekend, while Youkilis and the Red Sox made history with a September 2011 collapse that cost them a spot in the American League playoffs.

‘Chronicle’ Makes Fourth Highest Super Bowl Debut

Found-footage film earns $22 million, beating out Daniel Radcliffe’s ‘Woman in Black.’ By Ryan J. Downey Dane DeHaan in “Chronicle” Photo: Alan Markfield/ 20th Century Fox The Super Bowl couldn’t stop another found-footage flick from topping the box office. Box-office receipts were up more than 30 percent from last year’s Super Bowl weekend as “Chronicle” took the #1 spot with Daniel Radcliffe’s first post-“Potter” flick, “The Woman in Black,” close behind at #2. “Chronicle” took in $22 million while “Woman in Black” earned $21 million, according to studio estimates. The feel-good Alaskan whale story “Big Miracle,” starring Drew Barrymore and John Krasinski (“The Office”), debuted at #4 with $8.5 million. Meanwhile, Super Bowl halftime performer Madonna saw her “W.E.” open with a ho-hum $45,000 in four theaters. Despite the film’s director earning a Golden Globe for her song from the movie, “W.E.” has suffered from mostly negative reviews. While it didn’t open as strongly as the “Paranormal Activity” movies, “Cloverfield” or last month’s found-footage flick, “The Devil Inside,” teen superhero-centered “Chronicle” enjoyed the fourth highest Super Bowl debut ever and took the #1 spot internationally. Considering the movie’s estimated production budget of $12 million, the found-footage phenomenon will undoubtedly continue. The modest success of “The Woman in Black” was good news for Radcliffe, who had yet to top-line a movie in a role as anyone other than “Harry Potter.” Its numbers were comparable with the 2006 remake of “When a Stranger Calls,” which was also a horror flick directed at teens that opened on Super Bowl weekend. Both Radcliffe’s ghost story and “Chronicle” earned mostly positive reviews. Last weekend’s #1 movie, “The Grey,” dropped to #3 with $9.5 million. The Liam Neeson vehicle, which, like “Big Miracle,” takes places in Alaska, has made $34.7 million thus far. “Underworld: Awakening” rounded out the top five with $5.6 million for a $53.4 million total. Awards season favorite “The Artist” and “The Iron Lady” (which has earned Meryl Streep another Oscar nomination) both passed the $20 million mark over the weekend. Each movie is playing at roughly 1,000 locations; “Chronicle,” by comparison, opened in 2,907. This weekend’s new releases include “The Vow,” which sees Rachel McAdams returning to source material from “The Notebook” author Nicholas Sparks, opposite Channing Tatum; Denzel Washington’s “Safe House”; “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, which is already doing solid business overseas; and the 3-D re-release of “Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace,” which is the first in a series of planned “Star Wars” 3-D re-releases over the next few years. Woody Harrelson’s corrupt cop drama “Rampart,” which reunites the actor with “The Messenger” writer/ director Oren Moverman, will open in limited release. Kelly Clarkson Calls Super Bowl Gig ‘A Huge Honor’

‘That was the longest minute and a half of my life,’ singer says of performing the national anthem. By Jocelyn Vena Kelly Clarkson performs at Super Bowl 46 Photo: Ezra Shaw/ Getty Images Kelly Clarkson kicked off the Super Bowl on Sunday night with an emotional, stirring rendition of the national anthem . Donning a black dress and heels, Clarkson gave a performance of “The Star Spangled Banner” that had everyone buzzing on Monday morning (February 6). “I have probably sang the National Anthem a thousand times and have never been nervous, but I definitely was last night at the Super Bowl!” she told MTV News in a statement on Monday afternoon. “That was the longest minute and a half of my life ha!” The performance wasn’t just about Clarkson’s big voice (though it mostly was), but also about the marching band and choir of children who were center-stage with the onetime “American Idol,” who performed just moments before the New England Patriots and the New York Giants faced off in Indianapolis. “I was very excited as well because of the drum line and the Indianapolis kids choir that were performing with me,” she continued. “They made the performance stand out a lot more and those kids sounded so ethereal and beautiful! It was a huge honor to get to sing the anthem and I’d be proud to do it again!” Clarkson wasn’t the only A-lister to take the stage during the big game. Madonna performed during halftime , and much like Clarkson, she brought her own drum line to the stage, as well as LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, Cee Lo Green and M.I.A. But, unlike Madonna, Clarkson’s performance included a lot less pomp and circumstance, and one less middle finger (which came courtesy of M.I.A.) . Gisele Bundchen to Giants Fans: Blame Wes Welker!

Gisele Bundchen prayed for husband Ton Brady to win the Super Bowl last night. Alas, when those prayers were not answered – the Patriots fell to the Giants 21-17 – the super model turned to curse-filled trash talking. It’s okay, dear. I’ll catch all of your balls tonight. On her way out of Lucas Oil Stadium last night, New York fans taunted Gisele, with one yelling: “Eli owns your husband!” At this, Bundchen turned around and replied: “My husband cannot f-cking throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time. I can’t believe they dropped the ball so many times.” Gisele, of course, is referring to a number of near-catches by Patriot wide receivers, most notably a missed snag by Wes Welker at the New York 20-yard line with four minutes remaining and New England driving for a clinching score. Should Welker have had it? Probably. Did Brady throw a couple balls behind his teammates in the second half, along with a key interception? Yes. Watch the Gisele/fan interaction now at The Insider.

Even though the battle was on the field. Advertiser’s battle on the tube also. This is how much A Super Bowl Commercial cost.   A WHOPPING 3.5 million per 30 second is what advertiser’s paid for ads during the Super Bowl. Car company’s like Audi, Chevy, and Hyundai took control of the 1st quarter.  There were also ads by Best Buy, M&M and Pepsi.
