The Interview Premiere Canceled Amid Terrorist Threats as Sony Fallout Escalates

Threats of violence against movie theaters and moviegoers resulted in the cancelation of Thursday’s scheduled premiere of The Interview in New York City. The Interview Movie Trailer The fallout from the ongoing Sony Pictures Entertainment hack reached a fever pitch Tuesday with threats from the shadowy group claiming responsibility. Calling themselves Guardians of Peace, the group vowed a massive campaign of violence akin to September 11, 2001 if the movie hit theaters as planned. The reason hackers are so upset over this absurd-looking comedy? The film features Seth Rogen and James Franco as television journalists involved in a CIA plot to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Speculation about a North Korean link to the Sony hacking has centered on that country’s rage against the film and earlier threat of “merciless” retaliation. The Department of Homeland Security said there was “no credible intelligence” to corroborate the threat against movie theaters , but is still analyzing messages. The warning did prompt law enforcement in New York and L.A. to address security measures, and Sony to allow theaters to pull The Interview if desired. The Interview Trailer Right on cue, a spokesperson for Landmark Sunshine cinemas said the NYC premiere of The Interview, scheduled for Thursday night, has been canceled. Carmike Cinemas, which operates 247 theaters across the country, was the first to nix planned showings of the film , according to The Hollywood Reporter . Rogen and Franco pulled out of all media appearances, canceling a Buzzfeed Q&A and Rogen’s planned guest spot on Late Night With Seth Meyers . GOP (as Guardians of Peace is often dubbed) has released a trove of data files including 32,000 emails to and from Sony Entertainment CEO Michael Lynton. Two former Sony film production workers filed lawsuits alleging the company waited too long to notify nearly 50,000 employees that data was breached. Since the hack surfaced late last month, everything from financial figures to salacious emails between top Sony executives has been dumped online. Here’s a look at some of what we’ve learned so far … 9 Things We Learned From the Sony Hacking Scandal 1. New Ghostbusters Cast Revealed! One email reveals that the studio is hoping to have Jennifer Lawrence, Melissa McCarthy, Emma Stone, and Lizzy Caplan star in the upoming all-female Ghostbusters reboot. Well, “all-female” isn’t quite accurate. The ladies will be joined by an A-list male star, who will apparently need to be dragged to the set kicking and screaming…

Bill Cosby Won’t Be Charged in Playboy Mansion Sex Case, D.A. Says

Bill Cosby will not be charged with a crime stemming from his alleged molestation of a woman at the Playboy Mansion in 1974, authorities in Los Angeles said. In a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court earlier this month, Judy Huth said she and a 16-year-old friend met Cosby that year at a San Marino park. The alleged assault occurred later, after Judy Huth , who was just 15 years old at the time, said Cosby gave her alcohol to drink and led her to the mansion. It’s one of a series of around two dozen disturbing sexual assault accusations made against Cosby, 77, which Playboy magnate Hugh Hefner called sad . The Los Angeles P.D. agreed to look into some of these claims, even though most occurred decades ago and are difficult, if not impossible, to pursue. Prosecutors said the 40-year-old Huth claim against Cosby is far past the statute of limitations, which at the time of the alleged incident was merely three years. “Therefore, prosecution today for a potential felony sex crime from 1974 would also be barred,” the D.A. said , adding that at the time, this was a misdemeanor. Cosby’s lawyers have called the assault claims discredited and defamatory, but more and more seem to surface every day, and not all of them decades old. According to his latest accuser, Cosby drugged and licked Chloe Goins in 2008 at the Playboy Mansion. She was just 18 at the time; Cosby around 70. While Cosby defenders are quick to point out that he’s never been charged, and/or that people may be trying to extort him, the allegations are piling up. High-profile names such as Kathie Lee Gifford , Beverly Johnson and Janice Dickinson have also come forward with various claims about his behavior. In 2006, he settled for an undisclosed sum a lawsuit brought by another woman, Andrea Constand, who claimed Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her. Many others have told shockingly similar stories, and surprisingly few have taken any legal action, seeking primarily to be heard after years of silence. Two of his TV projects have been halted, many on-stage appearances canceled and reruns of his much-revered The Cosby Show yanked from the air. Bill Cosby Memes Gone Horribly Awry 1. Stare at the Sweater Thanks a lot, Internet users. Now we’ll never be able to watch The Cosby Show the same way ever again!

SMH: California Big Head Bandit Freed In Error By Jury Is Stabbed To Death Later After Returning Home

Freed and then later killed …. California Man Freed In Error By Jury Is Stabbed To Death A defendant in a Central California burglary case walked out of a courtroom a free man after a jury mistakenly signed a not-guilty verdict form — only to be killed hours later. Via NY Post reports: The flabbergasted judge said Wednesday that he had no choice but to order defendant Bobby Lee Pearson to be released from jail because the not-guilty verdict had been put on the record, The Fresno Bee reported. After it was too late, jurors told the judge they were hung on the charges against Pearson. Prosecutors might have had an opportunity to retry Pearson in the case of a hung jury. “I can’t believe it,” Superior Court Judge W. Kent Hamlin said after he ordered Pearson to be set free. Hours later, Pearson was stabbed to death after going to a home to get some clothing and belongings, Fresno police Sgt. James Rios said. He apparently got into a fight early Thursday with his sister’s boyfriend, who Rios says then stabbed him. The two apparently had a long history of problems. The boyfriend’s name has not been released. Hamlin said Wednesday that he couldn’t change the verdict form because double jeopardy was already attached. “This has never happened to me in more than 100 jury trials that I have done,” he said. Pearson and two co-defendants were accused of burglarizing an apartment last year and stealing a video system and a gun. The homeowner allegedly caught the intruders and wrestled with one of them. Jurors returned a guilty verdict against Pearson’s co-defendant, Terrel Minniweather, and the mistaken not guilty verdict against Pearson before lunch Wednesday. Hamlin asked the jury whether that was in fact its verdict against Pearson, and all 12 nodded yes, the Bee reported. The jurors were then asked to return after lunch for a potential second phase of the trial. The confusion over the verdict against Pearson came to light during lunch, when one juror told court staff that he had voted to find Pearson guilty, said Linden Lindahl, an attorney for Minniweather. Jurors said they were confused by the forms, one of which was for a guilty verdict and the other for a not guilty verdict. One juror said there was no form they could sign that indicated the jury was deadlocked. Lindahl said he was surprised by the jury’s confusion, since the judge “did everything by the book.” Cold world!

Chris Brown Probation Revoked; Singer Not Sent to Jail, Making Progress in Rehab

Chris Brown’s probation has been revoked, following a progress hearing in the Rihanna assault case, but the singer was not remanded into custody. The decision stems from the R&B singer’s arrest for felony assault and subsequent misdemeanor assault charge following an altercation in D.C. Chris Brown Probation Revoked Brown is scheduled to appear in court in connection with the case on January 8, but because he’s on probation, that opens up a new list of issues. On Monday, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin noted that Brown’s criminal complaint violated the terms of his probation. However, Brandlin did not order the singer to return to jail, saying he was pleased with the troubled singer’s progress in anger management rehab . It’s the second time this year that the 24-year-old has had his probation revoked, and he’s scheduled to return February 10 for another hearing. He could have been jailed as a result of the probation revocation, even without a conviction in the assault case, but neither the state nor the judge wanted that. Brandlin also ordered that Brown stop using medical marijuana, though according to a letter from his rehab facility, he has already stopped using the drug. In November, he was ordered to enter a 90-day treatment program in which he must complete three eight-hour days of community service each week. The Grammy Award winning star has been diagnosed with ADD, according to his probation report, and suffered a “setback mentally and emotionally.” That took place when he was “not credited for all the hours” he served previously during this year’s community service fraud controversy, insiders report. He has also battled depression, but with the aid of other medications, the singer has been able to better “emotionally regulate himself,” his rehab facility says. Here’s hoping he continues on the right path.

You Going To Jail Today! Ex-NFL Baller Aaron Hernandez Indicted On Murder Charge By Grand Jury

The jig is finally up! Aaron Hernandez Indicted On Murder Charge Via Boston reports: Former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez was indicted today on a charge of first-degree murder in the slaying of a Boston man whose bullet-riddled body was found in a North Attleborough industrial park in June. Hernandez also faces five gun charges in the slaying of Odin Lloyd, 27, of Boston, in the latest chapter of the downfall of a wealthy NFL star who once seemed to have a bright future. One of Hernandez’s friends, Ernest Wallace, also faces charges of being an accessory after the fact of first-degree murder, according to the Bristol County Superior Court clerk’s office. If convicted, Hernandez faces a possible sentence of life in prison without parole. Wallace faces a maximum sentence of seven years. Bristol District Attorney C. Samuel Sutter’s office has alleged in court that Hernandez, Wallace, and another Hernandez associate picked up Lloyd, a 27-year-old amateur football player, at his Dorchester home and then drove him to an industrial park in North Attleborough where he was shot to death. What makes a man who has everything do something so stupid? Whatever his friend “mouthed off” about was not worth shooting him over. Throw this clown in the clink and lose the key!

People Aint Isht: 3-Year-Old Toddler Dies After Being Bitten, Burned And Sexually Abused By Her Mother’s Boyfriend

Somebody needs to kick his azz. So sad. Boyfriend Kills Toddler According to Mail Online A three-year-old girl died after suffering ‘indescribable atrocities’ allegedly at the hands of her mother’s boyfriend which included a skull fracture, bite marks, burns, trauma to her genitals and swollen eyes. Carroll Bumgarner-Ramos, 29, from Willimantic, Connecticut, has been charged with first-degree assault and risk of injury. More serious charges are expected to be filed pending autopsy results. The paramedic who treated the toddler at the scene said her injuries were the worst he’d seen on a child in his 21-year career. The girl was in cardiac arrest and didn’t breathe during the ambulance ride to Windham Hospital, the paramedic told police. Bumgarner-Ramos was arraigned on Monday in Danielson Superior Court where his bail was set at $1million. Prosecutor Patricia M. Froehlich said: ‘Those photos demonstrate indescribable atrocities to that child. The words in the affidavit couldn’t even describe. Froehlich said her office will also be seeking warrants for the arrest of ‘an additional person or persons’ in the victim’s death. According to court records, it was the second time the 29-year-old babysat the girl while her mother Kim Lam was at work. She told police there were no injuries on her child before she left for work. A neighbor performed CPR until an ambulance arrived, according to The Hartford Courant. Lam told police she returned home after 9pm and noticed the baby lying in bed with vomit all around her. She was babbling, her face was swollen and her body was bruised. The toddler was pronounced dead at the hospital and had a swollen head, burn marks on her feet, bite marks all over her body, bowel hemorrhaging and abrasions to her pelvic area. There was also evidence of sexual assault. Neighbor Robert Trevorrow told WFSB: ‘I heard one of my roommates yelling, “Help me! Nevie’s not breathing. She’s not breathing. Come downstairs”. ‘So I flew downstairs and started CPR until the ambulance showed up.’ Lam and her daughter had been living in the Potter Street apartment with Bumgarner-Ramos for about a month. He denies hurting the child and has been committed at Windham Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation after threatening to kill himself. He has three cases pending in Superior Court in Danielson. In one case, he is accused of punching and choking a pregnant woman he was dating in April. He is also charged in a drug case and with violating probation. Can you imagine how that poor girl felt?
