Blake McIver, Child Actor From ‘Full House’, Is A Go-Go Dancer

Man, that  Full House cast has had it rough. Jodie Sweetin got addicted to meth . Ashley Olsen developed an eating disorder . Candice Cameron Bure’ got Kirk-Cameroned. Blake McIver, who played Michelle’s friend Derek Boyd on Full House  and rich kid Waldo in The Little Rascals , went from down-on-his luck vocal coach to  selfie-loving Go-Go dancer . He makes a great Superman, don’t you think? McIver, 28, isn’t at all ashamed of his profession. In fact, he says he’s “found it liberating and empowering.” After being bullied while attending a Christian high school, McIver’s self-esteem suffered.  “I had so much shame about my body,” he said. “I’m not hiding my body anymore.” (Please don’t hide it, Blake!) McIver says that he nearly became a “gay teen suicide statistic” at age 14 but turned to music and his loved ones to keep himself going. Now, as an openly gay adult, he sees that there is a global responsibility to “protect the LGBT teens who are still physically and verbally assaulted and fear for their lives every day.” You can find McIver on The People’s Couch or catch more of his ab-baring selfies on Instagram . We’ve got a couple more for you here.

Man of Steel: $21 Million Opening Night

Man of Steel has earned an estimated $21 million from Thursday night screenings! That puts the Superman reboot at 7th place all time for “midnight” earnings. The problem with that number is that $12 million of that $21 million came from special 7pm screenings. We’re not faulting  Man of Steel for having those screenings, but the context for these numbers is constantly changing. Higher ticket prices for 3D and IMAX theaters, and ever-earlier premieres make it hard to really compare performances. For reference,  Iron Man 3  took in $15.6 million on its Thursday night opening. Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot is poised for a good weekend, regardless. Estimates place the film somewhere between $90-$130 million in three-day earnings. Were you part of that $21 million  Man of Steel earned last night? If so, what’d you think of the movie? Read our  Man of Steel review to see what we thought.
