E.J. would be so proud … Kansas City Teen Boy Suspended For Wearing A Purse To School Via KCTV5 A 13-year-old Kansas eighth-grader says he was suspended from school on Wednesday because he refused to take off his Vera Bradley purse. His furious mother says it is discrimination because girls are allowed to have purses with no repercussions. “I don’t think everyone should be treated differently,” Skylar Davis said. “Everyone should have the same privileges.” Anderson County School District officials did not respond to KCTV5′s repeated efforts to get a comment. Skylar is a student at Anderson County Senior-Junior School. He said he has been carrying the colorful fabric Vera Bradley bag over his shoulder for some time with no issues. “It expresses myself and I think everyone else can wear it, so I wear it as well,” Skylar told KCTV5′s Dave Jordan. He was summoned to Assistant Principal Don Hillard’s office after he wouldn’t take it off. “I went to the office and I refused to take it off, and they suspended me,” the teen explained. School personnel then called his mother, Leslie Willis, to come get her son. “I was a little furious, and I called the school [and spoke to Hillard] to reverify the story, and yeah, he refused to take off his Vera Bradley bag, nothing more to do it,” Willis said. No purse boys allowed. She said she reviewed the student handbook but did not see a mention to bags or purses. She questions the suspension and the timing. “Skylar has been going to school since August with that same Vera Bradley bag on, hasn’t taken it off. What is the problem?” she asked. She said she supports her son and his choices. She said if he wants to carry a Vera Bradley purse or any other type of bag that he should be able to do so without being punished. KCTV5 left messages for Hillard on his office and cell phone. He wasn’t at home Wednesday night. Dakota Haight said the situation with his brother is unfair. “I’ve seen girls wear short shorts. Why don’t they get kicked out? But then he gets kicked out for a purse? That doesn’t make sense. It’s not right,” Haight said. Willis said she was told that the suspension wouldn’t be lifted until Skylar stops wearing the purse, which he says he won’t do. Via VG.com reports : Billionaire Wissam Al Mana, husband of famous popstar Janet Jackson, signed the letter of termination for Marte Dalelv (24) after she reported being r@ped in Dubai. The 6th of March this year Dalelv reported a colleague for r@pe while on a business trip in Dubai. Earlier this week, Dalelv was sentenced to 16 months in prison after being convicted for having extramarital sex, drinking alcohol without permission and giving false statement to the police. Ms. Dalelv received a letter from her employer Al Mana Interiors three weeks after she reported the rape, informing her that she was suspended from her position, effective immediately. The ninth of April she got a new shocking letter: Her contract was terminated due to «unacceptable and improper behavior». This time it was the company’s managing director, Mr. Wissam Al Mana, who himself signed the letter. Al Mana writes the following in the letter he personally signed: Dear Ms. Dalelv, Further to the suspension letter notified to you on 20th March 2013, we hereby inform you that you employment with Al Mana Interiors W.L.L. is terminated for misconduct and breach of your employment duties, effective immediately. As mentioned is the suspension letter dated 20th March 2013, your employment agreement is termination due to your unacceptable and improper behavior during your last business trip in Dubai, which has resulted in your arrest by the Police Authorities in UAE. Vanderbilt Football Player Lets Teammates Assault Girlfriend Via Deadspin reports: While Nashville police have yet to release details of a sex crimes investigation that led to the dismissal of four Vanderbilt football players, allegations are starting to emerge through other channels. Former Volunteers quarterback Erik Ainge disclosed some of those details this morning on his Tennessee Sports Radio program, and they’re ugly. Ainge opted not to reveal any names, saying only that four players were involved and that after a night of drinking one player “allowed” the other three to rape his girlfriend. “They were out,” Ainge said, “they were drinking, boyfriend Vandy football player had sex with his girlfriend, then allowed his three teammates with him to also have sex with his girlfriend, and she did not want that to be the case.” The case is being taken seriously enough by authorities, certainly; the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is involved and testing evidence in its crime lab. Vandy recently suspended four football players amid a sex scandal… Vanderbilt announced the suspension of four players for a violation of team rules, seemingly connected to a sexual assault investigation into an incident that allegedly happened at a Vanderbilt dorm, at 5:30 p.m. Eastern on a Friday. Via NY DailyNews reports : A ninth-grade math teacher allegedly had sex with seven students, one of whom was below the age of consent. DaNita Wilson, 32, was arrested Tuesday and charged with seven counts of sexual assault, reported CNN. “Some of the (relationships) had been going on for at least one year or longer,” said Stacy Carson, assistant special agent for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Wilson is accused of having sex with six students who are over 16-years-old, Georgia’s legal age of consent, and one 15-year-old student, Carson explained. Wilson was suspended with pay from her job at Charlton County High School, pending a formal employment hearing, where the school district’s superintendent, John Lairsey, will recommend her termination. “We’re just shocked and disappointed,” said Lairsey. “And it’s just hard to believe. Just disappointed and disheartened that people we put our trust in would violate that trust.” The school district started investigating the claims after receiving a complaint about Wilson, who has worked at the school for a decade. “We received information within the school system,” he said. “The main meetings continued on Tuesday. At that point, we got the sheriff’s office and GBI involved, and (Wilson) was removed from class before lunch.” Lairsey escorted her to police custody just before lunch and handed her a letter that explains her suspension, according to CNN. Wilson’s bond was set at $35,000 — $5,000 for each case of sexual assault. Her court dates have not yet been scheduled. According to ESPN , Wade’s not too happy and took his frustration out via twitter : Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade has been suspended one game without pay by the NBA for flailing his leg and making contact with the groin of the Charlotte Bobcats’ Ramon Sessions. The suspension was announced Thursday by Stu Jackson, the NBA’s executive vice president for basketball operations. “I’m far from being a dirty player + my intent was never 2 kick Ramon Sessions,” Wade tweeted Thursday night in reaction to the suspension. “I just reacted to the contact that I got from him…. More than anything, I think of my boys watchin me be4 retaliating 2ward any player. Im moving 4ward + ready 2 get back on the court in MIL.” The incident happened with 8:12 left in the fourth quarter of the Heat’s 105-92 victory over the Bobcats on Wednesday night. Yunel Escobar has issued an apology for one of the stranger scandals we’ve seen recently in the world of sports. The Toronto Blue Jays shortstop donned eye black for his team’s game against the Boston Red Sox on Saturday, scribbling Spanish words across the outside that translate roughly to “faggot.” The ball player was suspended three games for the action. “I feel bad,” he told the media this afternoon in response to the incident. “I’m leaving my team for something I didn’t intend to do. I have nothing against the gay community and honestly I’m sorry… It was just a joke and it wasn’t directed to anyone in particular… “It’s just something that’s been said around amongst Latinos. It’s not something that’s meant to be offensive. For us, it didn’t have the significance to the way it’s being interpreted right now. It’s a word used often within teams. … I agree with the suspension and don’t have any problem with it.” Escobar, who is hitting only .251 this season, will forfeit about $92,000 as a result of the suspension. A portion of those funds will go to GLAAD.
