While her castmates jetted over to London this week for the Breaking Dawn premiere in that city, Nikki Reed was a guest on The Late Show with David Letterman . And viewers learned a great deal about the actress during her interview. For instance: did you know she’s in the process of removing a tattoo from her wrist? Or that she speaks Greek? Or that she home-schooled herself? Or that she’s married to former American Idol singer Paul McDonald? Okay, you probably knew that final tidbit. The artist makes a cameo during the following video, as well. Sit back and get to know Nikki a lot better right now: Nikki Reed on The Late Show
Let’s face it: you are going to see Breaking Dawn . It doesn’t really matter if every critic give it a worse grade than Jack & Jill . It’s really only a matter of how many times you attend a showing this weekend, not whether or not you choose to do so. Still, what sort of expectations should you have for Edward and Bella’s big day? Will it meet expectations? Breaking Dawn Clip: Edward Defends His Family Yes, says our friend, Joel Amos, of Movie Fanatic. The wedding scene is a beauty to behold,” he writes, adding that “fans will be all sorts of a twitter” as they watch this beloved couple exchange vows. Taylor Lautner, meanwhile, “excels in capturing a man ,” someone truly coming in to his own, both physically and emotionally, while “living at a crossroads” due to his unrequited love for Bella. Don’t expect much action in this second-to-last installment of the franchise, but true Twihards will be happy that Breaking Dawn remains true to the book and to Stephenie Meyer’s’s vision. Former Oasis songwriter’s solo debut has earned rave reviews, none of which impress him all that much. By James Montgomery Noel Gallagher Photo: MTV News Given all the recent coverage of his run-in with Katie Holmes and various, life-altering ways , you may be unaware that Noel Gallagher , late of Oasis , has just released his first proper solo album, a rock-solid collection of tunes that run the gamut from psych-tinged burners (“[I Wanna Live in a Dream in My] Record Machine”) to straight-ahead churners (“Everybody’s on the Run”), with stops at just about every point in between. He’s called the disc Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, a nod to both the first Fleetwood Mac album and a Jefferson Airplane song of (roughly) the same name, and so far, things are soaring. It’s been greeted with glowing reviews, most of which seem to harp on the fact that the album represents “his best tunes in 15 years.” Of course, in typical Gallagher fashion, he’s not paying attention to any of it. “I didn’t read any of the reviews and think, ‘Well, these people think I’ve been writing crap songs for the last 15 years.’ I don’t think of things like that,” he told MTV News. “When I’m in the studio, I’m literally taking it song by song and then, you know, you get to the end of it. I got to say though, during the mixing of it, as each track was being finished, I was thinking, ‘This does sound really good. …’ “But I wouldn’t like to compare it to anything Oasis did, because that’s not fair,” he continued. “We were a band and I was writing songs for someone else to sing, so you can’t really compare the two. It’s just a good record, what can I say?” Humility was never his strong suit. Neither, apparently, was guitar playing. Because even though he slung the ax loud and often in Oasis, he never really considered himself to be a guitar player . Which is why, on High Flying Birds, he limited the showing off — there are, by unofficial count, just two solos on the whole album — and focused instead on doing what he loves best: writing killer tunes. “I guess when guitarists make solo records, there’s usually a lot of showing off. But I’ve been trying to convince for 20 years that I’m not a guitarist, I’m a songwriter. I played lead guitar in the band because everybody else, in the early days, was useless, so that kind of fell to me,” he laughed. “But it’s not something I ever thought I would put myself up there with John Squire or Johnny Marr or all those great British guitarists, that’s not my thing. My thing was songwriting. I only noticed [the lack of solos] when a friend of mine was listening to the finished version, and it got to track six and he went, ‘You know, that’s the first guitar solo,’ and I was like, ‘Wow, someone’s got an easy gig, doesn’t he?’ ” And since there’s not going to be an Oasis reunion in the cards anytime soon, Gallagher is focused on promoting Birds both here and abroad. He’s playing on just about every continent over the next six months and seems quite content to be doing nothing else. Especially attempting to figure out the machinations of the music industry of 2011 … a plan he abandoned long ago, thanks in no small part to his daughter. “She is into music, she’s never mentioned Justin Bieber to me … Lady Gaga’s her thing, and Rihanna and, is it, Miley Cyrus? All that kind of thing,” he said. “It’s kind of a rule, she’s got to like Oasis and her old fella, so she’s into that side of it. But her teenage rock years will come [and], no doubt, she’ll be into f—ing Nickelback as well.” Related Videos MTV News Extended Play: Noel Gallagher
‘I’ve seen Edward and Bella go through a lot so far, so I feel like I was kind of ready to see this,’ Lautner tells MTV News. By Tiffany Miles, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner in “Breaking Dawn, Part 1” Photo: Summit Entertainment Of all the buzz surrounding this week’s hugely anticipated release of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” the vast majority of fan rumblings and excitement have been about and for one scene and one scene only: the “honeymoon scene,” a.k.a. Bella and Edward’s sex scene. It’s a different story for the actors involved, specifically for Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart , who have talked at length about how awkward filming the scene was. Their co-stars seem to be onboard with their enthusiasm for the “action,” however. When MTV News caught up with Taylor Lautner recently, he said he was ready for it. “I’ve seen Edward and Bella go through a lot so far, so I feel like I was kind of ready to see this,” Lautner said. “I think everybody will feel the same way. We’ve seen Edward and Bella in their relationship grow so much that it’s about time.” “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer told us at the “Breaking Dawn” premiere that the scene in the movie gives fans a lot more to see and think about than she did in the book. “I think it’s romantic, and it does give you more than the book does,” Meyer said. “I know some of the sites call it, instead of ‘fade to black,’ ‘fade to sad.’ They’d love to see more. I think this gives them that,” she said. “It gives them a romantic peek into the honeymoon. We don’t want to see too much.” Although everyone seems to be excited to see the honeymoon scene, Lautner still isn’t sure that Bella made the right decision when she chose Edward over his character, Jacob Black. When asked if he thought Bella made the wrong call, he jokingly said, “You know, I go back and forth with that one [question] still.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . ‘I got it down to one time … and it literally lasts for two seconds,’ he tells MTV News about fewer shirtless scenes. By Kara Warner with reporting by Josh Horowitz Taylor Lautner in “Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” Photo: Summit Poor Taylor Lautner . Ever since he ripped off his shirt to reveal a noticeably buffed-up bod in “New Moon,” his fans and filmmakers have been clamoring to see more of those defined abs of his, much to the young actor’s embarrassment. We don’t like being the bearer of bad news, but it seems as though Lautner’s ab exposure peaked in “Eclipse.” Why? Because there is only one very brief moment of shirtlessness in “Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” and if Lautner has his way, that’s all we’re going to get from here on out. “I got it down to one time, one time in the movie, and it literally lasts for two seconds,” Lautner told MTV News proudly of his single shirtless shot. “There was some negotiating for sure, oh yeah. There were more [shirtless scenes] when I read the original script, trust me,” he said. “And I got it down to a very, very small amount, which I was so happy with.” Say it ain’t so! Surely this is his strategy to leave his fans wanting more? “No, it’s just so I don’t have to freeze to death while I’m filming this movie. I don’t know why people don’t believe me; it’s uncomfortable,” he protested. “Everybody on set, the crew, the cast are wearing clothes; bundles of clothes. And I’m just chillin’ there naked. It’s uncomfortable.” We know one man who might be pleased to hear about Lautner’s lack of shirtless scene work: Robert Pattinson. “The only thing [that was difficult about filming the sex scene] is the vanity aspect,” Pattinson told us recently . “Taylor [Lautner] just ruined the whole series for me. As soon as he buffed up, I went, ‘Well, I’m throwing in the towel’ on ‘New Moon.’ ” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . ‘I’m always continuing to grow and learn more about myself each and every day, so I can definitely relate to that,’ actor tells MTV News. By Kevin P. Sullivan, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner in “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” Photo: Summit Entertainment Eventually, all werewolves have to grow up. Jacob learns that lesson during the finale of the “Twilight” series, “Breaking Dawn,” and as it turns out, the man behind Jacob, Taylor Lautner , has been learning the same lesson each and every day. MTV News’ Josh Horowitz sat down with Lautner while he was promoting the penultimate “Twilight” release, set to hit theaters Friday. Lautner said the Jacob we see in “Breaking Dawn” is a whole other type of animal. “It was really exciting for me, because Jacob in this movie is very different than he ever has been, so I was a little nervous. I was excited,” he said. For Lautner, “Breaking Dawn” was a chance for each of the film’s characters to show a different side, but he admitted that he struggled particularly with Jacob. “It’s really amazing to see all of the characters, really, in a different light than you’ve ever seen them before,” Lautner said. “But Jacob was a challenge in this movie, being pulled in two totally different directions and kind of being the middle man. He has to make a decision: which side are you going to choose?” In “Breaking Dawn,” Jacob must decide between his loyalties to Bella and her unborn vampire child and his wolf pack, a very adult decision for a teenage werewolf to make. Lautner himself still has his moments of immaturity but said it’s all part of the bigger picture. “I have my kid-fun moments, I guess, but I would say it’s a good mixture. I don’t think you’ve ever found exactly who you are,” he said. “I’m always continuing to grow and learn more about myself each and every day, so I can definitely relate to that.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . ‘Our relationships together are quite hilarious,’ he tells MTV News of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner at the premiere of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images LOS ANGELES — ” The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 ” black carpet was a bittersweet experience for fans of the series, as it marked the penultimate “Twilight” premiere. But leading man Taylor Lautner was only looking to the future when he caught up with MTV News during the live stream of the event. In fact, he wasn’t even looking at the “Breaking Dawn” films as being the last time he’d be in a film with his co-stars, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart . Sure, there’s nothing more we as fans would love than for Lautner to star in another movie with Robsten in the near future, regardless what the genre was. But the 19-year-old “Abduction” star has one specific type of movie in mind for their movie reunion: a comedy. “If I did a film again with them, I’d like to do a comedy. A super, super funny movie,” Lautner said. “I think they’re funny, especially when they’re together. Our relationships together are quite hilarious, so it would be a funny movie, for sure.” So would it end up with him taking his shirt off again? “If the role requires it and I’m in love with it, then we’ll see,” he said. Fortunately for fans of Lautner’s now-famous set of abs, his shirt apparently comes off within the opening minutes of “Breaking Dawn.” He might not be the biggest fan of the attention he gets for his sexy bod nowadays, but it seems like he’s willing to take it off to keep the fans happy. After all, they certainly have shown their dedication to the “Twilight” franchise. “I don’t know if I could think of one thing,” Lautner said when asked what he’ll remember most from the “Twilight Saga” red carpets. “But the obvious thing to think of is all of these fans, them showing up again and again. Last year when they came out, they camped out for days. I thought, ‘That’s amazing. There’s no way they’ll do it next year.’ Sure enough, they did it. It’s unbelievable.” Stick with MTV News as we roll out even more from our “Breaking Dawn” premiere live stream! ‘I would have come two weeks ago if they would have let me,’ one camper tells MTV News outside ‘Breaking Dawn’ premiere. By Kara Warner A fan attends the “Breaking Dawn” premiere in Los Angeles Photo: Getty Images LOS ANGELES — Here at MTV News, we’ve been celebrating the highly anticipated release of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” with a flurry of “Twilight”-related activity. Now it’s time to spotlight the very dedicated, passionate fanbase. On Saturday, we headed out to “Twilight” fan central, fondly referred to as “tent city,” where more than 900 people had already set up camp ahead of tonight’s Los Angeles premiere. (Join MTV.com live from the red carpet at 8 p.m. ET!) “I got here at 12 a.m. Wednesday night,” Megan Lambert told us in front of her “Team Jacob”-themed tent. Lambert holds the #2 spot in line and is hoping for a hug from Taylor Lautner at the premiere. Campers Lisa Paulosky, Emily Chadduck and Christy Brolezi bonded over their love for “Twilight” and formed a Facebook group ahead of the premiere for fellow fans who wanted to camp out. Several members traveled a considerable distance to be there. “I came from Chicago,” Paulosky said. “I came from New Mexico,” Chadduck admitted. They all want one thing on Monday: a Robert Pattinson encounter. “I need to take a picture with Rob,” Brolezi said. “My heart will break if I don’t.” The most creative fan group award goes to the ladies behind the Facebook group Kristen Stewart’s Hot Bodyguard, a.k.a. Team HBG. Unsurprisingly, the ladies are hoping for a photo opp with Kristen and their main man, HBG. “We have a special present for HBG that we’ve been holding onto for a year,” founding member Lynsey Jacob told us. We also happened upon a young male fan, who wasn’t at all shy about his love for the lady vampires, particularly Nikki Reed. “I’m Team Vampires,” Cody Huddleston said with a smile. The dedication among these fans is a marvel, and they would have camped out sooner if they could have. “I would have come two weeks ago if they would have let me,” Shannon Berry said. “I would have come a month ago.” Tonight, join MTV.com live from the “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” red-carpet premiere as we talk to your favorite stars about all things “Twilight”!
