Late Night Highlights: Kristen Stewart Describes Her Actual Pet Wolves While Jeremy Piven Raps About Toilet Phones

Never change, Kristen Stewart. While most other starlets tackle the late night circuit with television-ready anecdotes and easy laughter to make any host or audience swoon, the Twilight franchise star can never quite conquer her nerves. Take last night’s appearance on the Late Show , where the actress sputtered through a story about how her co-star Taylor Lautner demanded that she go bowling after an emotional trip to the Holocaust Museum. It could have been talk show gold, but became instead a rambled story so awkward that David Letterman visibly cringed before segueing into an equally uncomfortable segment about K-Stew’s pet wolf. Steel your own nerves and click through for that clip as well as the other highlights you missed last night while begging your agent to get you the role of Steve Carell’s Office replacement .

Taylor Lautner Would Ditch His Abs For The Right Role

‘If it was for a role that I was passionate about, I would definitely do that,’ says ‘Eclipse’ star. By Josh Wigler, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Taylor Lautner at the “Eclipse” screening in New York on Monday Photo: Jim Spellman/ WireImage Would Taylor Lautner ever drastically alter his body for a performance? It’s not an unreasonable question — after all, people like Christian Bale and even Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson have been known to drop extreme amounts of weight in the name of their acting careers. As the young “Eclipse” actor’s star continues to rise, it’s certainly a question that he’ll want to ponder as more and more acting opportunities float across his table. Speaking with MTV News at a special screening of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” in New York City on Monday, Lautner said that he would absolutely consider ditching his signature muscular physique — if the right film role came his way, that is. “If it was for a role that I was passionate about, I would definitely do that,” he told MTV. Although body alterations aren’t necessarily high on the list of changes Lautner is looking to make in the name of his career, the sometimes-werewolf heartthrob did say that he’s looking to branch out into new genres. He already has a head start on that mission with upcoming leading turns in espionage thriller “Abduction” and superhero flick “Stretch Armstrong,” but Lautner is hoping for even more diverse opportunities. “I want to challenge myself to everything,” he said. “I’ve got a really cool action thriller [in ‘Abduction’] and then an awesome superhero movie [in ‘Stretch Armstrong’], but I want to find a great drama script.” The one genre he’s not itching to dive into? Musicals. “No,” he laughed when asked about the possibility of singing on the big screen. “I mean, people actually tell me that I can [sing], but I think they’re just being nice — because I definitely can’t! No ‘Hairspray 2’ [for me]!” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Taylor Lautner Compares His ‘Twilight’ Directors

‘Our directors are so different from one another,’ he says of Catherine Hardwicke, Chris Weitz, David Slade and Bill Condon. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Taylor Lautner in “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” Photo: Summit Entertainment Catherine Hardwicke gave him his big break. Chris Weitz made him a star. David Slade inherited a Hollywood veteran. And Bill Condon will help cement his legacy. Yes, it’s been quite a journey for Taylor Lautner, from his beginnings in Hardwicke’s “Twilight” to his emergence as the third point in the franchise’s smoldering teen love triangle during Weitz’s “New Moon.” On Wednesday, Slade’s “Eclipse” gives us a Lautner who has become Hollywood’s go-to guy for young action roles. Then in the fall, he’ll join up with Condon to bring “Breaking Dawn” to the big screen and the vampire series to a close. Given the craziness and good fortune of the past few years, Lautner can’t pick which of these directors is his favorite. He will go so far as to say “Eclipse” is his favorite flick of the three thus far, but he has nothing except kind words for all the folks who have sat in the director’s chair on a “Twilight” movie. “The funny thing is, our directors are so different from one another,” Lautner told MTV News. “I didn’t have the opportunity to work with Catherine that much, but she was amazing. She’s very smart and so creative.” Back in November, Lautner called Weitz’s directorial style “flawless,” and months later, his opinion of the man has not changed. “Chris was phenomenal — his sensibility. He’s so sensitive,” the 18-year-old said. “It really matched ‘New Moon’ ‘s feel.” And while Lautner has fond feelings for that film, “Eclipse” is his favorite , if only because it has the most action. “David brought his darker, cooler, more dangerous feel to ‘Eclipse,’ which was awesome,” Lautner said. Finally, there are the two parts of “Breaking Dawn,” which will begin filming in the fall. Lautner hasn’t yet had a chance to sit down with Condon to talk about the series, but he can’t wait for the opportunity. “I met him briefly,” Lautner said. “Very quickly. Not about ‘Breaking Dawn.’ He seems like a very nice guy. Obviously ridiculously talented, so I’m excited I get to work with him twice.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Taylor Lautner on Eclipse: It’s My Favorite!

When fans ask Taylor Lautner to take his shirt off, he politely declines, but points them to June 30. That’s the premiere for Eclipse , of course, a film that will once again deliver plenty of Jacob Black in the semi-buff. The man behind that amazing torso spoke to Matt Lauer on Today this morning and first showed his gratitude for the part he plays in general, saying: “I embrace this role and this franchise. It’s done many things for me, I give all the thanks to it and I’m having the time of my life with it.” As for Eclipse , Lautner doesn’t need to sell the movie, as it will clearly make hundreds of millions around the world. Still, he and Kristen Stewart have been promoting the heck out of the third Twilight Saga flick for weeks and he said today: ” Eclipse is definitely my favorite of the series. I feel like Eclipse takes everything about the franchise – the romance, the action, the danger – and it takes it all to the next level.” WATCH TAYLOR’S LATEST INTERVIEW BELOW. Taylor on Today

Taylor Lautner Wants A Regular Life For ‘As Long As Possible’

‘Eclipse’ star talks about mowing the lawn and remaining fully clothed on the ‘Today’ show. By Jocelyn Vena Taylor Lautner on the “Today” show on Monday Photo: NBC In a scene from “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” out this Wednesday, Robert Pattinson’s Edward Cullen makes one very funny observation about Taylor Lautner’s beefy werewolf alter ego, Jacob Black: “Doesn’t he own a shirt?” When Lautner stopped by the “Today” show on Monday (June 28), he reassured Matt Lauer that he does in fact own shirts in his real life. He laughed, “Of course, I do!” In his real life, when he’s not playing dreamy teen wolves or on his way to becoming the next big action hero, Lautner said he’s just like any other 18-year-old. “At home … I mean when I’m home, I help out with the lawn, the garbage, dishes,” he said, adding that he wants to be regular for “as long as possible.” “It’s very important to me,” he said. “I describe it as I live two lives. I also have the same exact life as before.” After being out making and promoting a movie, Lautner said, his family treats him “maybe even harsher. I got extra mowing to do.” Lautner had little more than 239 words in first flick, Lauer pointed out, and now he is one of the film’s biggest names. “I never thought it would be a reality; to look back then and be sitting here now is mind-blowing,” the actor said. While he loves “Eclipse,” claiming it to be his favorite of the “Twilight” flicks so far, he does admit to one frustration in the film. “I was very jealous of my [CGI] wolf,” he joked. “I love the action. That’s the fun part, and my wolf has all the action in this movie.” And though he hasn’t tired of his fame yet, Lautner is wary of being known only as a shirtless wonder. “As an actor, I do want to challenge myself, but I embrace this role, this franchise. I give all the thanks to it. I’m having the time of my life with it,” he told Lauer, joking that if anyone wants to see him shirtless they should see “Eclipse” and not harasses him on the street. “[Fans] ask you to take your shirt off a lot. I just tell them not right now, but see it June 30.” Do you think Taylor Lautner will be typecast after “Twilight”? Share your thoughts in the comments. Eclipse Cast Sounds Off on Miley Cyrus

For the record, Miley Cyrus hates pop music , Glee and, of course, pants . Now, the singer has added something else to her list of disdain. In an interview with E! News last week, the singer said: “I hate vampires.” Naturally, this led the network to speak to members of the Eclipse cast about Miley’s comments and they replied as follows: Taylor Lautner : “She doesn’t need to like vampires. As long as she likes werewolves, we’re cool.” Peter Facinelli : “I’m not necessarily a huge vampire fan, but I do love the books that Stephenie Meyer created. I love that you don’t see fangs. It’s not a horror movie by any means.” Elizabeth Reaser : “I’ve always been a fan of vampires since I was a little girl. I loved all the Anne Rice books. Maybe Miley’s resisting. Maybe they’re so popular now that it’s annoying or she’s sick of seeing us.” Kellan Lutz : “She hasn’t met me then. I would change her opinion on that, I’m sure. I have my ways.” Ashley Greene : “That’s so unfortunate because I love her new songs… I’m going to sit Miley down and force her to watch Twilight .”

Twilight Has Accepted Many Friend Requests

According to Facebook , the only social network that is clearly acceptable for scientific studies such as these, the Twilight fan page now has approximately 6.665 million fans, more fans than pages for Harry Potter , Transformers , and Toy Story combined. True to its book roots though, you can only become a fan after spending at least four hours staring goo-goo eyed at it and then swearing you’ll totally get married to it after clicking “Like.” [ Deadline ]

‘Eclipse’ Stars Thank Twilighters For ‘Beyond Insane’ L.A. Premiere

‘This energy is always undeniable,’ Kristen Stewart tells MTV News on the black carpet. By Josh Wigler, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner Photo: Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images It’s not uncommon for fans of major franchises to devote several hours, days and weeks to the stories they hold so dear, but there’s something almost indescribable about the devotion of the “Twilight” fanbase — a devotion that was on full display Thursday night (June 24) at the world premiere of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. “This is beyond insane. It’s, like, ludicrous madness. You can’t describe something like this,” actor Justin Chon, who plays Eric in the “Twilight” series, told MTV News on the black carpet of the “Eclipse” premiere. “These are some of the most dedicated fans that you’ll find on planet Earth.” Sarah Clarke, who plays Bella’s mother Renee Dwyer in the “Twilight” films, echoed Chon’s sentiment: “You never get used to this. I think there’s an Elvis quality, you know?” Clarke pointed out that many of the fans in attendance had been camping outside the theater for almost a week just to make sure they were able to see all their favorite stars. To thank these fans, Peter Facinelli and some of his castmates paid a visit to the dedicated “Twilight” supporters earlier in the week. “A couple of us came down and signed some autographs for them, because they’ve been camping out for five days and we wanted to make sure the wait was worth it,” Facinelli said. “It’s humbling to have this much fan support. I definitely appreciate it, and I know that the cast does. We don’t take it for granted. This whole franchise has been successful because of those fans.” In addition to the numerous fans and “Twilight” castmembers themselves, many other notable Hollywood personalities and surprising celebs came out for the “Eclipse” premiere. Athletes like Yankees superstar Alex Rodriguez and L.A. Lakers newcomer Ron Artest were two of the more unexpected celebrities in attendance, with Artest throwing his support behind Team Jacob and the rest of the wolf pack. Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt, in contrast, declared her own status as a proud member of the Team Edward faithful. “I tried to meet [Robert Pattinson] last year, and I waited on line for an hour and a half to meet him, and just as I got to the front, he left,” Hewitt recalled of a previous opportunity to meet the hunky Edward Cullen in person. “I was so sad. But he didn’t mean it — he’s Edward!” Although she fully supports the sexy vampire, Hewitt said she has difficulty relating to Bella’s romantic dilemma. “[My love life] sometimes feels more complicated [than hers],” she said. “Nobody ever just says, ‘Can I bite you?’ And if they did, I’d be like, ‘Yes!’ And we could just move on with our lives, and it would be amazing!” One of the most anticipated personalities attending the “Eclipse” premiere was none other than “Twilight” author and mastermind Stephenie Meyer herself. “I’m so not used to this,” Meyer admitted when asked about the size and scope of the “Eclipse” premiere. “I only do this kind of thing once a year. The rest of the time, I am totally incognito. It’s nice to be the author, let me tell you. It’s so much easier than being the actor!” There’s no question that Meyer was able to navigate through the crowd with more anonymity than the film’s three leading actors, as Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart couldn’t travel from point A to point B without cheers and applause following them every step of the way. “This energy is always undeniable,” Stewart said of the crowd’s unbridled enthusiasm. “I feel like I’m one of them. I feel like we share the exact same passion for this thing, and it feels a little weird to be at the head of it, but it’s cool.” Lautner said that when he first stepped onto the red carpet, there was only one sensation going through his mind: amazement. “It’s absolutely incredible and so exciting,” he said. “It’s a little bit of pressure, because you definitely want to live up to their expectations, but at the same time, we luckily have the most supportive fans in the world. Sometimes, this is just like extra comfort.” “Anybody who says they’re tired of this is completely crazy,” Pattinson agreed with his co-star and onscreen romantic rival. “If I ever said that [I’m tired of this], someone just has to remind me of what I was doing before: sitting around doing nothing!” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .
