Katy Perry’s ‘Part Of Me’ Leaks Online

Uptempo pop-rock tune is reportedly lifted from singer’s Teenage Dream recording sessions. By James Dinh Katy Perry Photo: lai seng sin/ AFP/ Getty Images Just a few weeks ago, Katy Perry confessed that she was ready to take her relationship with Russell Brand to the next level by taking his last name. Despite the amorous stage in her life, the pop star appears strong, bold and just a tad resentful after a breakup on the previously unheard pop-rock song “Part of Me,” which surfaced on the Internet on Wednesday. With reported production by pop mastermind Dr. Luke, the song has Perry declaring herself unbreakable after an ugly breakup, singing , “Days like this I want to drive away/ Pack my bags and watch your shadow fade/ ‘Cause you chewed me up and spit me out/ Like I was poison in your mouth/ You took my light, you drink me down/ That was then and this is now, now look at me.” Similar to the pop star’s hit single “California Gurls,” the tune’s steady beat amplifies as the chorus opens. “This is the part of me/ That you’re never gonna ever take away from me/ Throw your sticks in the stones/ Throw your palms in your clothes/ But you’re not gonna break my soul/ This is the part of me that you’re never gonna ever take away from me,” she sings. “Part of Me” is rumored to be a leftover cut from the singer’s Teenage Dream recording sessions. However, fans have speculated that the track may be included in a yet-to-be-confirmed re-release of the Grammy-nominated LP. In addition to the new material, fans can rejoice in yet another Perry tune, “E.T.,” as online reports have indicated that the futuristic song has been selected as the pop star’s next single. Despite multiple live performances of the song, Perry took to Twitter to ask her legion of fans which track they’d like the singer to release next. “Thanks for all your great suggestions for the next single today!” she tweeted on December 13. “Your voice has been heard! We’re on the same page…” What do you think of Katy’s latest song? Share your reviews in the comments! Related Photos Katy Perry’s Amazing Year Related Artists Katy Perry

Katy Perry Asks Fans Via Twitter To Help Pick Her Next Single

‘Your voice has been heard! We’re on the same page,’ the singer tweeted over the weekend after fielding requests. By Jocelyn Vena Katy Perry Photo: Amy Sussman/ Getty Images With three Teenage Dream tunes already soaring to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, it seems that Katy Perry is planning chart domination once again. The singer took to her Twitter over the weekend to get her fans in on the important decision of which track off her album should be her next single. “PEOPLE u are the reason why I’m here, SO what song off of TEENAGE DREAM do u want to blow up NEXT?!” she tweeted on Sunday. “Put a # next to the song YOU want!” Among the fans who weighed in were some of Perry’s celebrity pals, including Perez Hilton, who made his choice clear when he tweeted , “@katyperry It HAS to be #Peacock! Definitely!!!!” Perry hasn’t divulged the name of the tune she’s chosen, but she did let fans know that there is a clear winner. “Thanks for all your great suggestions for the next single today!” she wrote early Monday morning (December 13). “Your voice has been heard! We’re on the same page…” The single would follow in the footsteps of “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream” and “Firework,” the latter of which just became her latest smash off the release. While no one is sure that Perez’s suggestion of “Peacock” will be the track that’s picked, Perry has talked about the song in the past to MTV News. “With me there are a lot of double entendres,” she said. “There’s a lot of puns. You know, when I learned how to write a song, the person that was kind of teaching me was an amazing songwriter, and he was like, ‘Don’t forget about the double entendres. Don’t forget about the puns. Don’t forget that one word can have two meanings.’ So I’m always kind of looking for that one thing that’s really normal that you can make twisted.” So what song do you think Katy Perry’s next single should be?
