16 & Pregnant Season 4 Cast Members: Revealed!

We’ve already posted MTV’s 16 and Pregnant trailer for Season 4. Now we have your first look at the cast of the new season, premiering Tuesday, March 27. The U.S. teen birth rate has reportedly declined by nearly 10 percent in the last few years, helping douse criticism that the show is glamorizing teen pregnancy. However, there are still plenty of cute teen moms for casting directors to choose from, and these 12 high schoolers from across the nation made the cut. Spoiler alert: There are more cheerleaders than ever! 1. Lindsey Harrison (above). The model and cage fighter complains that she “cannot do anything I normally would do” after she becomes pregnant. Now 17, she gave birth to daughter Aniyah in October and is still seeing her baby daddy. 2. Myranda Trevino. Almost the high school track star lives in Texas with baby daughter Kaylee Michelle (born in September) and is dating baby daddy Eric. 3. Katie Yeager. Now 17, Katie gave birth to her daughter Molly last August. She lives in Wyoming and appears to be on good terms with baby daddy Joey Maes.

Our History Makers: Thurgood Marshall

Go here to read the rest:

The fight to end segregation was a three-pronged attack. The beloved Dr. Martin Luther King Dr. evoked sympathy from the nation, the militant Malcolm X evoked fear, and Thurgood Marshall evoked the law. While King and X gave blacks the courage to stand up to segregation, it was Marshall who fought for these brave people in court. Through a systematic plan of legal attack, Marshall and the NAACP legal defense fund dismantled a system that had shackled blacks since slavery. Before Marshall won his landmark cases in the Supreme Court, he got a little pay-back as a young attorney in Maryland. In 1936, Marshall won a major civil rights case that’s almost forgotten. The case, Murray v. Pearson forced the University of Maryland to accept its first African-American student. It was a sweet victory for Marshall who was denied entrance to Maryland five years later because he was black. The case caught the attention of NAACP leaders and Marshall joined the legal defense fund. As a lawyer for the NAACP, Marshall won 27 of 33 cases that argued before the Supreme Court. His success also brought international acclaim. The United Nations and the United Kingdom asked Marshall to help draft the constitutions of the emerging African nations of Ghana and what is now Tanzania. Before his subsequent nomination to the United States Supreme Court in 1967, Thurgood Marshall won 14 of the 19 cases he argued before the Supreme Court on behalf of the government. Some of his more recognized triumphs were : Chambers v. Florida , 309 U.S. 227 (1940) Marshall and his team of lawyers persuaded the Supreme Court to overturn a criminal conviction based on a coerced confession. Smith v. Allwright , 321 U.S. 649 (1944) Marshall convinced the Court to strike down a Texas practice which excluded blacks from participating in primary elections. Morgan v. Virginia , 328 U.S. 373 (1946) Marshall convinced the Court to strike down segregation on buses on routes of interstate travel). Shelley v. Kraeme r, 334 U.S. 1 (1948) Marshall convinced the Court to overturn lower court rulings in favor of restrictive covenants which prohibited land from being sold to African Americans. Sipuel v. University of Oklahoma , 332 U.S. 631 (1948) and Sweatt v. Painter , 339 U.S. 629 (1950) Marshall persuaded the Court to require universities in Oklahoma and Texas to integrate their law schools. Marshall’s greatest triumph was in the landmark cases Brown v. Board of Education, 347 U.S. 483 (1954), Marshall challenged the constitutionality of “separate but equal.”Marshall’s civil rights lawsuits aren’t the sum of his career. As an attorney and justice, he created new protections under law for women, children, prisoners, and the homeless. Read interviews and more information about Marshall’s career right here .

Santigold Will Take Stage With Umbrellas At Woodies

Santi tells MTV News she plans to use ‘fun props’ when she unveils her new single, ‘Disparate Youth,’ at the March 15 show. By James Montgomery Santigold Photo: Logan Fazio/ FilmMagic Santigold was announced Thursday (February 23) as the first performer at the 2012 mtvU Woodie Awards, and from the sound of things, she’ll be bringing her A-Game. Or at least her props. “The show now involves some umbrellas; we try to use fun props on stage and make it look like a real show with, like, props and a lot of cool choreography,” she laughed. “We have a lot of fun on stage, and we’ll definitely put that into the show.” Santi may be the first artist confirmed for the Woodie Awards — set for March 15 in Austin, Texas, during the South By Southwest music festival — but she’s far from the only name attached to what has quickly become a daylong event. For the first time, the show will expand to include an open-air music festival, which kicks off at 1 p.m. CT and features an eclectic bill that includes Fun., A$AP Rocky and just-announced additions like Chiddy Bang, Kimbra and Ed Sheeran. It’s a move that reflects the anything-goes ethos of SXSW, which is just one of the reasons Santi agreed to take the stage at the Woodies … that and the fact that she’s got previous Woodie-related experience. “I played the Woodies several years ago [in 2008], and it was a lot of fun. The show is a great platform for artists, all kinds of artists, and I like that it is happening during SXSW,” she said. “I love it down there, love all the different bands you get to see. When they asked if I’d like to perform this year, I didn’t even think about it. I just said ‘yes,’ it was a no-brainer.” During the show, Santi will be unveiling her brand-new single, “Disparate Youth,” the first taste of what fans can expect on her upcoming Master of My Make-Believe album (due this spring). It’s sure to be a highlight, though, for her Serbian fans, it’ll also be nothing new. “We’ve been doing ‘Disparate Youth’ for a while — I’ve been working on these songs live; I tried to work on these songs as much as I could outside of the country,” she said. “I think the first time I performed ‘Disparate Youth’ was in Serbia. It was cool. It went over pretty well, I’ve got to admit.” The Woodies Festival will be held on Red River and East First Street in Austin and is open to both SXSW badge-holders and music fans alike. The entire fest will stream live on Woodies.mtvU.com and leads up to the awards themselves. On Sunday, March 18, the best moments from the Woodies will be broadcast during a 30-minute special airing on MTV and mtvU at 8 p.m. ET. Voting is also under way in all Woodies categories, and remains open until March 9. Voting in the Breaking Woodie category will continue during the live show March 15. Fans can cast ballots in all categories through the Woodies website , on their mobile phones at M.MTV.com or by texting VOTE to 66333. Standard message and data rates may apply. The Woodies.mtvU.com invade SXSW on March 15 with the Woodies Festival. The best of the 2012 mtvU Woodies will air on MTV and mtvU on March 18 at 8 p.m. ET. Demi Lovato Documents Recovery In MTV’s ‘Stay Strong’

‘I want people to know that we all have personal strength and can lean on each other,’ singer says about MTV special, airing March 6. By Jocelyn Vena Demi Lovato in the “Stay Strong” trailer Photo: MTV News & Docs Demi Lovato is giving fans an insider view of what life’s been like for her since leaving a treatment center last year, documenting it for the MTV special “Demi Lovato: Stay Strong,” debuting Tuesday, March 6, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. The special will follow the singer in her most private moments, as she deals with her very public recovery from personal issues, including an eating disorder and cutting. “Stay Strong” shows her confronting these problems while still working on her career, including going back on the road for a tour. Since leaving a trek with the Jonas Brothers in the fall of 2010 to enter treatment, the singer has leaned on the support of her family, friends and devoted fans, known as Lovatics. Lovato will go into detail about the events that caused her to seek treatment and how she decided to share her personal struggles and journey with the world. “I wanted to share my story but I knew it had to be honest, it had to be real,” Lovato said in a statement. “I have daily challenges but so do many kids who are struggling to feel comfortable in their own skin. If opening up and sharing my story inspires even one person to stay strong or to get the help they need, I’ve succeeded.” Fans will get to hit the road with the singer, as well as travel home with her to Dallas, Texas, to see her family. She will also head back to the Illinois treatment center she entered in November 2010. Lovato first teased the project on Tuesday when she tweeted a photo of her tattooed wrists reading “Stay Strong.” “Lovatics-I wanted to tell you FIRST about a special I worked on with @MTV,” she tweeted . “It premieres March 6th at 10pm!! #staystrong” Lovato hit the road late last year for a solo trek shortly after dropping her third album, Unbroken. The personal record included the chart-topping hit single “Skyscraper.” The special will air on MTV channels internationally starting in the spring. For more information, head to StayStrong.MTV.com . Passive-Aggressive Obituary Takes Shot at Kids

Well, that’s one way to get in a nice dig at your siblings. This very public, passive aggressive airing of family grievances is very sad, but Josie Anello did live to be 94, and if you can get past the tragic aspect of it all, it’s hilarious. Spotted in the Tampa Tribune , this obituary takes obvious shots at two of the deceased’s three children. She was also a great great grandmother, which is pretty amazing! Odds that the author of the obit was A.J.? Fairly high.

Were The Bachelor spoilers right, or did Ben pull a surprise? Hint: Someone’s dad prompted a breakup many did not see coming. Here’s THG’s official +/-
