Last month, The Bachelorette winner was accused by Us Weekly of sexting with another man , leading to an explosive fight with fiance Jef that his own brother “confirmed.” The tabloid now claims it was Oakland Raiders quarterback Matt Leinart on the other end. Despite his earlier denials, Us claims Holm had a heart-to-heart with ex Kaylee Shepherd about the incident, and she says “He said the story was 100 percent accurate.” “When she put her phone down, [Jef] picked it up and read everything. Jef said, ‘It was that pro football guy … She strung me along and was talking to another guy the whole time!'” [SIDE NOTE: Matt Leinart is still in the NFL? Who knew!] Of course, Bachelorette fans are likely aware that Emily Maynard and Jef Holm have not only stayed together, but seemed happier than ever since the alleged incident. Jef Holm and Emily Maynard have certainly been put to the test ever since The Bachelorette ended, but so far, they have passed that test with flying colors. Between rumors of Emily cheating and the ever-present Bachelor curse (i.e. no one on the show actually stays together), things may not have looked good. Good thing is, no one bothered to tell them that. Not only are they not breaking up, they can’t stand to be apart, according to E! News, which heard it from the southern belle and Jef Holm themselves last week. Said Emily Maynard of her husband-to-be: “It’s so crazy how easy it is for me to be around him and um, you’re with somebody a lot and you’re together a lot and they start to get on your nerves a little bit.” “He does not get on my nerves! We can be together all the time and only leave each other to go to the bathroom, and I will miss him while I’m in the bathroom.” Safe to say she’s probably not sexting other men with that kind of mentality. As far as a wedding goes, that is still in the plans; Jef just moved to Charlotte. She did have something to say about his upcoming bachelor party, joking that ideally, it’ll take place on “An all men’s island where they do a lot of reading.” Not sure about that, Em, but we wouldn’t worry about Jef. Another Bachelorette romance is on thin ice after Emily Maynard was caught cheating on fiance Jef Holm … according to an unreliable tabloid report. The celebrity gossip magazine reports that Emily fled a recent vacation in tears after Jef discovered her sending explicit photos and texts to another man. We’re talking seriously dirty stuff here. Allegedly. “There were texts and pictures: ‘Let’s do this and that with each other,'” says a source. Yikes. Not only that, the bad scene allegedly went down at a vacation rental where Jef Holm had taken Emily Maynard to meet his extended family. “Jef and Emily went into a bedroom and were yelling. He said, ‘You’ve been f**king cheating on me for months!’” a source is quoted as saying. His final words to her? “‘Pack your s**t and get the f**k out.'” Yeah. If that’s true, obviously this is serious and shady on her part, but we have our doubts. Considering the source, it’s a dubious claim at best. If there’s any tension between Emily Maynard and Jef, they sure weren’t showing it during a lovey-dovey outing in Charlotte, N.C., yesterday. The Bachelorette couple ran errands in her hometown, and either they were trying to not-so-subtly deny Us ‘ cover story, or they’re just that cute. Missouri Congressman Todd Akin has apologized for a remark found incredibly outrageous and offensive by both Republicans and Democrats. In an interview with KTVI-TV of St. Louis yesterday, the U.S. Senate candidate was asked about his view on abortion and defended his strict pro-life stance by saying: “First of all, from what I understand from doctors [pregnancy from rape] is really rare. If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.” Two questions, of course, have arisen from this statement: What medical process of “shut down” is Akin talking about? What the heck is a “legitimate” rape?!? Following outcry from citizens and politicians – Mitt Romney’s camp said “Congressman’s Akin comments on rape are insulting, inexcusable, and, frankly, wrong. Like millions of other Americans, we found them to be offensive.” – Akin quickly apologized and attempted to clarify: “In reviewing my off-the-cuff remarks, it’s clear that I misspoke in this interview and it does not reflect the deep empathy I hold for the thousands of women who are raped and abused every year,” he said. “I recognize that abortion, and particularly in the case of rape, is a very emotionally charged issue. But I believe deeply in the protection of all life and I do not believe that harming another innocent victim is the right course of action.” Of course, he didn’t actually answer either of the questions posed above. And now many are asking a different question of Akin: Should he drop out of the Senate race against Claire McCaskill? What do you think?
Despite reports to the contrary, Roberto Martinez may still be in the running to be the next star of The Bachelor, according to the best source there is. Roberto was being courted by the network several months ago, though no agreement was reached, and he was reportedly dating Kara Ramos at the time. Many thought he was out, especially given the emergence of Sean Lowe and Arie Luyendyk, Jr. But Reality Steve says Roberto is very much in the mix. Steve claims Roberto Martinez , who won The Bachelorette in 2010 but broke up with Ali Fedotowsky earlier this year, is now single and ready to mingle. The network is as interested now as it was this spring. Arie Luyendyk Jr. , for his part, is interested in being the star, but perennial Bachelor spoiler Steve says he doesn’t “chance in hell” of landing the gig: ”Yes, they [ABC execs] have met and interviewed both Sean and Arie, but I still haven’t heard anything solid enough that says it won’t be Roberto.” “This is Roberto’s gig to lose, which is why they were after him hard three months ago. If he got greedy, then I bet they give it to Sean.” Olympic champion Ryan Lochte is also rumored to be interested, though that seems like a long shot at best. She may be one of the only success stories in the history of The Bachelorette , but life for Trista Sutter has been far from perfect. In an exclusive interview with Life & Style , the 39-year old mother of two says her “boobs were deflated” after nursing and she hated her “droopy eye.” As a result, Sutter went under the knife in Houston, getting an eyelid lift and a breast augmentation – which increased her bust size from a small B to a full C – all in one day. “I realized that the surgery was something I had to do for myself, just for my own self-confidence and to feel good again about being in bathing suits and being intimate with my husband,” Sutter tells the tabloid. It’s safe to say that Emily Maynard and Jef Holm are going stronger than ever. The Bachelorette lovebirds recently celebrated Jef’s birthday in New York, looking happy as can be in one of their very first public appearances together. Jef Holm has been uploading photos galore – and Tweeting about his bride-to-be – constantly since their engagement aired on the season finale in July. “This was a fun night. #birthday #NYC (sic),” Jef tweeted with the pic below: Jef and Emily (a.k.a. Our recap could end there and be sufficient, but ABC’s guilty pleasure, which premiered in all its glory last week after Emily Maynard picked Jef Holm on The Bachelorette, did offer some memorable moments Monday night. Who got the boot and who got some tail? Find out below! Twins Brittany and Erica T., some of the “fans” cast this season, were at each other’s throats from the onset, and not in a creepy/hot way. Minus 12 . “You’re not a slut, OK? I would never have said that if I was sober,” one of the twins offered as an olive branch in the night’s best quote. Plus 12 . This week’s challenge was to learn and perform a gymnastics routine in front of a panel of judges, in honor of the London Olympics. Ugh. Minus 9 . Judges Ashley Herbert , J.P. Rosenbaum and Olympic gymnast Tasha Schwikert were assigned to score this nonsense. Plus 3 for the Ash sighting. The ladies group gets a collective Minus 40 . Aren’t women supposed to be the gender that can dance? Apparently not this collection of them. The guys earn a Plus 10 . Erica Rose and Ed Swiderski were voted the worst performance from each group, with a point docked against them. Michael Stagliano and Blakeley Shea, both dancers by trade, earn the roses in what was a totally unfair contest, but still, Plus 5 for effort. Mike took Rachel, Lindzi and Donna out for a night of rocking to a band and rocking worlds for the latter. Donna? A little obsessed. Minus 13 . He gave the date rose to Rachel, CRUSHING poor Donna, whose heart was LITERALLY shattered into like a million pieces. Groan. Minus 27 . At the Pad, peeps celebrated Jamie’s birthday. Virgin Ryan wants her, but she has eyes only for Chris, who totally wants to tap that booty but feels he must simultaneously lead Blakeley on as his “game plan.” Ah, Bachelor Pad . Plus 20 . How is Chris such a player? He’s not particularly charming, friendly or attractive. Yet at least two girls are ALL about it. Minus 6 . Chris tells Jamie he had no feelings for Blakeley and then tells Blakeley he had no feelings for Jamie. Ah, Bachelor Pad . Plus 11 . Jamie walks in on Chris and Blakeley in bed. If you want to play two girls, doing one of them in the room they share isn’t typically the stealthiest way of going about your “strategy,” but Plus 7 for entertainment value. Blakeley chose Chris, Ed and super fan Dave for her date, a Bachelor Pad soapbox derby event won by Ed. Plus 8 for his Pickle Car. Chris got the rose. Shocker. Minus 4 . The twins, for no reason at all, begin a high-pitched, long-running, confusing, pointlessly irritating fight that ultimately leads to them both leaving. Thus, no elimination for the girls tonight. A few days after making their engagement known, following a beautiful proposal on The Bachelorette finale Monday night, Emily Maynard and Jef Holm are defying the critics. They are still together and appear as content as ever, with Holm saying he plans to soon move to North Carolina to be closer to Maynard and her daughter Ricki. Now, Emily has blogged on People about her “amazing” fiance and how lucky she is to have found him. “Getting to share our love story with you all this season and reliving the proposal yesterday reminds me of how blessed I am to have found my best friend and partner in crime, Jef Holm,” Maynard writes . “I’ve always believed in great love and hoped I’d find it one day. However, I had no idea a love like this even existed!” Emily adds that she is grateful to viewers and simply excited to live her new life: I have more fun with Jef than I have with anyone and I can’t wait to have even more fun now that we can go out in public with my daughter Ricki. Being the Bachelorette has been an incredible experience and I couldn’t be more thankful for all the support. I learned so much about myself and so many lessons that I’ll implement into our relationship. There were many ups and downs, and at times things were very chaotic, but love is worth the chaos!
