The 17 Most Shocking Bachelor / Bachelorette Finales EVER!

Chris Harrison hilariously tell us at the end of every season of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette that this is going to be epic. We're about to see the most shocking, most dramatic, emotional finale ever, he tells us. But which finales truly stand out most? Sometimes, it's the season finale with a surprising winner. Sometimes, it's a little extra drama or an epic meltdown. And sometimes (cough, Brad) there's no proposal at all. Well, we've decided to take a look back and rank the 17 most shocking finales from both The Bachelor and The Bachelorette . Where do we place last night's The Bachelorette season finale , in which JoJo Fletcher and Jordan Rodgers got engaged ? Which was the most insane in BACHELOR HISTORY? Check them out and see if you remember these – we're sure you do, if you're reading this – and if you agree with our rankings! 17. The Bachelorette Season 8: Emily Maynard Emily wanted to be considerate of Arie’s feelings on the finale of The Bachelorette Season 8, so once her mind was made up about Jef, she sent Arie home before they made it to the rose ceremony. 16. The Bachelor Season 4: Bob Guiney It’s kind of amazing how often a finale on The Bachelor or The Bachelorette ends without a proposal. In Bob Guiney’s case, he offered a promise ring to his chosen lady instead. They broke up a few months later. 15. The Bachelorette Season 6: Ali Fedotowsky Ali gave use a suprise at the end of The Bachelorette Season 6 when she sent Chris Lambton home early, incredibly confident in choosing Roberto. 14. The Bachelorette Season 12: JoJo Fletcher While there were final rose ceremony tears and a bit of drama – Robby Hayes really thought he had it in the bag, while Jordan Rodgers held back, initially, when it came to asking JoJo Fletcher’s parents for permission to propose to her – the Dallas beauty ultimately went with her heart, and the frontrunner all season (Jordan). 13. The Bachelor Season 14: Jake Pavelka Jake shocked fans on his season finale when he chose the season’s villain, Vienna Girardi, over fan-favorite Tenley Molzahn. 12. The Bachelor Season 1: Alex Michel Believe it or not, even The Bachelor Season 1 didn’t end as we thought it would. Alex Michel told Chris Harrison he was planning to pick Trista Rehn, but then chose Amanda Marsh at the last minute. He didn’t propose, though, but instead just wanted to keep dating. View Slideshow

Rachel Lindsay: I Admit it, I Regret My Choice!

The first and most important news out of The Bachelorette: Men Tell All was, of course, that Dean Unglert is a clear favorite and would be perfect as the next Bachelor. We already knew that, because we have sense. Rachel Lindsay, looking back on Men Tell All and the entire season of The Bachelorette , is admitting that she regrets one decision — and would do it differently if she could. In an interview with Us Weekly , Rachel Lindsay says that if she could go back and change one thing, she would have kicked one of the suitors to the curb way, way sooner: “If I’m just honest, I’m going to be 100 percent honest, I’m just going to say one word: Lee.” That would be Lee Garrett, folks. You know, the one who got slammed for racism. “I would have sent him home sooner.” We should hope so. You might think that the first black lead on The Bachelorette (shameful that it took so many seasons, by the way) wouldn’t be an inviting bride for, you know, racists. But racism and reality television are both much, much more complicated than that. First of all, not everyone goes on reality dating shows to find the love of their life. They can’t all win, and they go into the show knowing this. Getting to appear on another show in the Bachelor Nation or even just getting more social media followers an exposure is an amazing opportunity. So long as they make a good impression. Lee Garrett did not seem like a good guy — we’re not sure what he was hoping for, unless he thought that The Bachelor was going to cast him to court Trump fans or something. As far as the idea of a racist guy trying to win the heart of a black woman goes, well, racism doesn’t make people blind. Having black friends doesn’t mean that someone isn’t racist. Having a black girlfriend or wife doesn’t mean that someone isn’t racist. (And yes, that gets extra screwed up when children enter the mix and one of their parents has all of these prejudices that apply to them, too) So … it’s sadly no surprise that Lee Garrett was competing for Rachel Lindsay’s hand. If you remember from our  The Bachelorette : Men Tell All recap , Rachel Lindsay was part of calling out Lee Garrett for racism. During the special, Lee Garrett  tried to defend his actions, which really didn’t help. During The Bachelorette , he kept getting into heated conflicts with other suitors. Those other suitors tended to have something in common with each other — they were black. Fans noticed. Just about everybody noticed. Lee’s excuse that he was “uncomfortable” and trying to “joke” to excuse his behavior … didn’t go over well. Lee wasn’t only controversial for his actions on The Bachelorette — he also got into trouble for his antics on social media before he even went on the show. Specifically, Lee Garrett’s racist tweets landed him in hot water with fans and on Men Tell All. (Dude, even if you’re going to tweet super offensive stuff for whatever reason, maybe go delete them before you become famous) They weren’t even old tweets that someone dug up — they were from within the last year. There’s just no excuse. Considering what those of you following  The Bachelorette  Spoilers  already know, there are plenty of fans who think that Rachel Lindsay made a bigger mistake than letting Lee Garrett hang around. Not everyone, to be clear. But more than a few. Actually, you don’t even need spoilers to know that  sending Dean Unglert home  before narrowing her suitors down to three was positively foolish. But Lee Garrett had to go, as much because he and she clearly wouldn’t work out as to demonstrate to viewers how unacceptable he was. But, you know, hindsight is always clearer. And Rachel Lindsay didn’t know as much about Lee Garrett at the beginning of the series as she does now. In many ways, if there were viewers who saw some of themselves in Lee Garrett and his excuses, maybe his example served as a wake-up call to them about their own choices and behaviors. Still, we wonder if, in a year or so, Rachel Lindsay won’t have a larger regret about this season. View Slideshow: The Bachelorette Fans to Rachel Lindsay: Do NOT PICK Bryan Abasolo!

Dean Unglert Before The Bachelorette’s Hometown Dates: PLEASE Be Nice About My Dad!

It’s that time again for The Bachelorette ‘s hometown dates — always illuminating and often fateful for contestants. Dean Unglert is a favorite this year, and of course he’s one of the suitors who’s getting a hometown date with Rachel Lindsay. Dean’s family’s come up before, so he’s taken to the interwebs to issue a plea for religious tolerance — because his dad, as you may remember, is a Sikh. If you’re scratching your head for a moment and wondering who takes issue with Sikhs, the issue is a little more complicated than that. Sikhism is, like every faith, complicated, but essentially it’s a panentheistic religion believing in a single God who permeates and transcends every aspect of the universe. Many people minority faiths see discrimination and mockery, particularly when they are poorly understood by the culture in which they live. Unfortunately, two realities of Sikhs have led them to face real violence from bigots. Sikhs wear turbans over their uncut hair as a matter of religious expression. While Sikhism accepts converts (like, say, Dean’s father), they do not actively seek to convert anyone, and because of that there is a powerful ethnic association for Sikhs. The result is that you have brown-skinned people wearing turbans and, well, bigots aren’t generally known for their cultured educations. In the eyes of the ignorant, Sikhs look like Muslims. (And we’re talking about bigots here, so they see Muslims as targets for violence) Horrible hate crimes have been committed against Sikhs, which would be vile enough on its own. But in many cases it seems to be a case of mistaken identity fueled by Islamophobia.  Dean Unglert has described his father as “eccentric” in the past, and received criticism for that by Sikh fans of the show. Conscious of bias and prejudice within the culture, Dean took to Instagram to ask people to not be dicks about his dad, basically. “Hometowns are 2 days away! ..and I’m asking for a favor: when I said my father was eccentric, I was not referring to his Sikh faith or the turban he wears on his head.” He’d already clarified that, but it’s good to repeat it again. Someone being of a minority faith shouldn’t be seen as a goofy quirk, you know? “I’m not asking you to spare his feelings (or mine) but instead to be cognizant and accepting of the millions of people that belong to the Sikh community.” That’s so important. Representation on television is important, and the folks at home can learn a lot that way. But none of that works if people ridicule or fear someone else because they’re different, you know? “Although he and I are not close, I respect my father’s decision to follow his heart and pursue the life he has chosen.” That’s all that you can ask for, you know? “Let us not criticize him for his appearance or his beliefs because by doing so we are disparaging an entire faith and culture that includes millions of people.” That’s such an important statement. “And I know we are all better than that. That is all (for now) #endrant HAPPY SATURDAY PEOPLE” Dean is just so charming, you know? As you might recall, he’s a start-up recruiter who has his mother’s initials tattooed to his chest. So … his job is very Millennial and his personality is more than a little quirky. Honestly, Dean is likable even when he’s shading another contestant . Add to that his boyish good looks that are vaguely ( vaguely !) reminiscent of The Flash ‘s Grant Gustin, and you’ve got a strong contender. Then you throw in this very sensitive plea for people to respect his dad’s faith, which is shared by millions. He’s kind of a dream, right? Of course, sadly, we already know that Rachel isn’t going to choose Dean. Dean Unglert was spotted on set for  Bachelor in Paradise , which is amazing for that show but not great news for his role on The Bachelorette . (It also means that he won’t be The Bachelor ) Accidental spoilers, much? You’d think that if this charming guy isn’t Rachel’s pick, she’d be going with the handsome Peter Kraus. But actually we’re pretty sure that we know who Rachel will choose on The Bachelorette . View Slideshow: The Bachelorette Suitors: Meet Rachel Lindsay’s Men!

Jessica Simpson to Haters: Check Out THIS Photo of My Daughter!

Note to Jessica Simpson: You’re right. We’re on your side. But take a chill pill, will ya? On multiple occasions over the past years or so, the singer ( Second Note: Can we still refer to that as Simpson’s job? Discuss! ) has been the victim of some pretty intense mommy-shaming. Multiple Internet users with way too much time on their hands have called Simpson out for what they deemed to be inappropriate photos of her daughter, Maxwell. First, there was the time Simpson shared the following picture of little Maxwell and wrote as a caption to it: “My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard and they’re like it’s better than yours…” That’s a lyric from a 2003 single by Kelis and the “milkshake” in question is a reference to oral sex. So, yeah. Simpson may have made a mistake then penning this caption. But then Simpson shared another photo of Maxwell and heard it from the online community for no reason at all. In early May, Jessica and husband Eric Johnson threw their daughter a mermaid-themed birthday party. Cute idea, right? The Little Mermaid is a classic Disney movie and children love these imaginary creatures. In celebration of the occasion, Simpson posted the image below on Instagram, simply passing along a family portrait from the gathering: But stupid haters didn’t see it that way. They blasted Simpson for daring to dress Maxwell in such a revealing outfit. No, really… they did! “Parents should never post pictures of their children, especially girls, in swimming attire or underwear,” wrote one critic, who believed she was being helpful by adding: “Perverted predators copy or screen shot the pictures and share them with each other.” Added another: “She’s 5. Put some clothes on her. good grief.” And another: “Kinda sad seeing a 5-year-old posing like that…” Look, if you get sad by seeing a five-year old dressed like a mermaid, well…you’re just a sad person in general. We’re not sure what else to tell you. In response to these idiots, Simpson went ahead this week and doubled down. She shared yet another supposedly “revealing” picture of her toddler, this time showcasing Maxwell riding a scooter while wearing a bikini. and writing as a caption “safety first.” And it’s true: Maxwell is wearing a helmet! Good for her! Good for Simpson and Johnson! Far too many parents out there don’t force their kids to take this precaution when riding a bike or a scooter. But Simpson also included a smiley face emoji with this picture, clearly winking at her followers because she knew she’d receive flak for Maxwell’s swimsuit. And we’re with her; people criticizing a child for wearing a two-piece need to get a life and shut the heck up. Still, we hope this is as far as Simpson goes. She’s made her point. She needs to be done with it now. Because Simpson isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer (see video below… now!) and we could almost see her taking this another step. So before you take a snapshot of your child’s bare butt to keep shoving it down the critics’ throats, Jessica, put the camera down, relax, take pride in your victory and prepare better for your next interview on Ellen. This was simply a trainwreck… Jessica Simpson Appears on Ellen, Makes Little to No Sense

Kim Zolciak: Don’t Worry, Kash Still Loves Dogs!

It’s easy — and fun — to give Kim Zolciak a hard time, because, like most reality stars, she can be a little ridiculous. But her son Kash suffered a traumatic dog attack — just a little over a month ago. Now Kim’s shared the most heartwarming update on his progress. He’s doing so well! Keep in mind that the attack was so vicious that he had to go to the hospital  and undergo surgery. He’s going to be just fine, but still. Kim shared on Instagram that, even on his second day in the hospital, he was already happy to snuggle a service dog. And now she’s sharing photos of him on Snapchat.where he helped a stray dog that had just given birth. So, fair warning: these pics will melt even the iciest heart. Most traumatic injuries are accompanied by emotional trauma. In some cases, it’s important to learn from the experience so that you never repeat a mistake. In other cases, “learning” from your experience a little too well can keep you from enjoying life. Most of us have, at some point or another, met someone with a gripping fear of dogs. Sometimes it’s just an irrational fear, possibly brought about by — as fake as this sounds — traumatic experiences that their ancestors endured. Look, scientists are saying that phobias might be caused by that, not us. In other cases, they’re people who went through what young Kash did — they met one of the few dogs in this world that isn’t a being of absolute good. If you had a traumatic experience with the ocean, fine, you can just avoid going into the ocean again. It’s easy — we’re not in the ocean right now. Humans don’t really belong there anyway. Dogs, on the other hand, are part of our families and part of our society. Not being a dog person can kind of be a dealbreaker for a lot of future relationships. And people will totally judge you for it. Dogs are precious and being afraid of them is gonna get in your way throughout life. But just look at how well Kash is doing! There are grown-ass adults who lack his maturity, but this little boy is 100% down to snuggle each and every dog. Seriously, Kim Zolciak said that Kash kept trying to feed the stray dog his breakfast, because he is just unbearably sweet . We wish him the speediest possible recovery. We also wish that we knew more about the original incident where he was attacked. But apparently Kim’s being tight-lipped about it … well, as tight as those lips of hers can get, anyway … based on legal advice. That’s life, we guess. But at least dogs are still cute.
