REVIEW: Seth Rogen Barely Half a Hero in The Green Hornet

The idea of Seth Rogen as the Green Hornet so inflaming the fanboy community is amusing, since that group’s 20/50 vision also had it tsking its disapproval about Michael Keaton as Batman and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man (corrective hindsight brought them on board for the latter). But as with those previous strip-to-screen revivals, this new Hornet excited me; Seth Rogen as Britt Reid in a film directed by Michael Gondry sounded very promising.

Green Hornet Bumped to Next Year

Well, this isn’t gonna quell the buzz. Amid recent rumors that Sony is unhappy with the Michel Gondry-directed, Seth Rogen-starring The Green Hornet , Deadline reports that the film has been bumped to 2011 — albeit by three weeks. Hornet will now be converted to 3D and debut January 14. Yes, The Green Hornet and The Green Lantern will both be coming out in the same year. It won’t be at all confusing. [ Deadline ]

Is Seth Rogen’s Green Hornet the Next Batman and Robin?

Remember when you heard about Seth Rogen’s plan to co-write and star in The Green Hornet and thought, “Man, that’s a terrible idea!” Then when the project added Cameron Diaz and Christoph Waltz, you wondered aloud, “What kind of fever dream is this thing going to be?” And, of course, you got the answer when Michel Gondry took over the reigns from chopsocky director Stephen Chow: The Green Hornet was one gloriously hot mess. And now that the film is in the can, it looks like even its backers at Sony might agree.
