Dr. Frank Ryan#39;s Jeep careened off the Pacific Coast Highway and landed on the rocks below, according to TMZ.com. Dr. Frank Ryan, 50, was pronounced dead at the scene. Dr. Frank Ryan, Heidi Montag’s Surgeon, Dies In Car Crash

Celebrity plastic surgeon was killed in a car accident Monday. By Jocelyn Vena Dr. Frank Ryan Photo: Michael Kovac/ Getty Images A celebrity plastic surgeon best known for performing several surgeries on Heidi Montag, Dr. Frank Ryan, was involved in a car accident died on Monday. According to The Associated Press, Ryan died after his car fell from a cliff in Malibu on Monday. The California Highway Patrol told the AP that his 1995 Jeep Wrangler fell off the side of the Pacific Coast Highway and fell on its roof. No cause of death had been established at press time and an autopsy was expected to take place on Tuesday (August 17). “We are all in shock,” Ryan’s rep told People. “He was such a hardworking, philanthropic man, a loving son, and responsible for changing many people’s lives for the better. He will be missed by many.” TMZ reported that the 50-year-old doctor was trapped inside his vehicle and suffered from major head injuries. He was pronounced dead after Ventura County Fire Department tried to lift his out with a helicopter. In addition to famously working on “Hills” star Montag, Ryan’s other patients included Vince Neil, Gene Simmons, reality TV personality Adrianne Curry and Lorenzo Lamas. Montag took to her Twitter page to express her condolences. “I am devastated to hear the news of Dr. Frank Ryan’s death. He was the most amazing person I have ever known. He was an angel and changed my life and the lives of everyone he met. He was the most brilliant talented surgeon who will ever exist. Dr. Frank Ryan changed the world,” Montag wrote on Tuesday. My thoughts and prayers go out to his mother, family, friends, and anyone who was ever blessed enough to meet him,” she continued. “He is in a better place. Dr. Frank Ryan, Plastic Surgeon to the Stars, Dies

Dr. Frank Ryan, a prominent Beverly Hills plastic surgeon to the stars, has been killed in a car crash after his Jeep veered off the Pacific Coast Highway yesterday. The doctor was just 50. His car landed on rocks and lifeguards initially tried to help Ryan , to no avail. He was trapped in the vehicle and had major, ultimately catastrophic head injuries. Minutes before, Ryan Tweeted: “After 25 years of driving by I finally hiked to the top of the giant sand dune on the pch west of Malibu. Much harder than it looks! Whew!” His last Tweet: “Border collie jill surveying the view from atop the sand dune.” Dr. Frank Ryan was widely criticized for the surgery he did on The Hills star Heidi Montag, who famously underwent 10 procedures in a single day earlier this year . “He was the most amazing person I have ever known. He was an angel and changed my life and the lives of everyone he met,” Montag Tweeted after his passing. “He was the most brilliant talented surgeon who will ever exist. My prayers go out to his mother, family, friends, and anyone ever blessed enough to meet him.” His bodies of work will be remembered throughout Hollywood. Among Ryan’s patients in addition to Heidi Montag , whose work has been greatly scrutinized this year: Gene Simmons, Shauna Sand, Vince Neil & Adrianne Curry. Rest in peace.

Too soon? Sorry. At least I didn’t write, “Mel Gibson made his car wanna smoooooke last night after driving it into a rocky hillside on Malibu Canyon Drive.” Ugh. OK, well, he wasn’t injured! And cops today say that while the troubled Oscar-winner maintains he doesn’t know how he drove his Maserati off the road (he declined to “give a firm ‘yes’ or ‘no'” when asked if he fell asleep at the wheel), alcohol is not suspected and charges will not be filed. Huh? WHAT ? Sorry, forget it. [ TMZ ]

The solar eclipse is due to take place between 7:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. local time, leaving those on the islands to have to choose between two major global events: the eclipse and the World Cup final. Total solar eclipse tomorrow-first to pass over Easter Island in 1400 years

The moon’s dark umbral shadow will touch the South Pacific Ocean northeast of New Zealand at 18:15 UT and then race across the Pacific until it reaches southern Chile and Argentina. Along the way, it will fall mostly on open ocean, making landfall only at the Cook Islands, parts of French Polynesia, and Easter Island. The eclipse will end as the sun sets in southern Argentina at 20:52 UT. During its 2 hour and 40 minute journey, the umbra will have traveled a distance of some 6,900 miles (11,100 km).
