The songstress/Florida A&M University grad took to Instagram this weekend to announce that she’s been on the campaign trail with Secretary Clinton because of her commitment to helping with the funding of HBCU’s. Unfortunately for K however while some people support her decision to rub elbows with the Presidential hopeful, others are blasting her for supporting the woman who previously supported policies that had disproportionately negative effects on black people. Black Woman Denied Entry Into Nightclub Because They’re Too Dark Have you ever been denied entry into a club because of the color of your skin or weight? A group of British Black women were recently denied entry into an exclusive nightclub in London for reportedly being ‘too dark’ and ‘too fat’ to be seen in the popular club. What the entire hell?!? Via The Voice UK : Zalika Miller, 26, an up-and-coming actress from north London said: “Prior to us actually getting to the club, the [promoter] wanted pictures of the girls that my friend was going to bring. He basically said, if she was going to bring black girls then they’ve got to be of ‘a certain calibre’. She sent him pictures of me and another girl that was coming and I guess he gave his approval.” They claim a club employee at the door disappeared into the venue – where they have a video monitor – to verify whether someone can be ‘admitted’ into the club. “I remember even saying I’m not even going to bother to take my ID out because I bet she’s going to come back out and tell us some rubbish excuse,” Miller, who starred in the Brothers With No Game web series, said. The group was declined entry and told the club was at full capacity only to watch in shock as other women were allowed to enter after them. Miller says the promoter went to the door girl and asked why she wasn’t letting them in but was told, ‘I don’t think they’re good looking enough’ and later in an text message exchange with the DSTRKT promoter, the group of women were later informed that they were rejected at the door because one of the girls was “too dark” and another was “overweight.” Are these people serious?? Many clubs have been known to enforce ambiguous rules to prevent people of color from entering but this is just ridiculous! This seemed to contradict his spirit of integrity, which he has protected for so long. Why was he repeating himself, just to give her a little flare of publicity, quickly absorbed by the next puff of self-promotion?” Well, he replied, ‘I got the feeling that if I didn’t do that photograph, she would have simply copied the idea anyway. I might as well copy myself.’ His ideas are are so powerful that repeating them decades later still causes a hell of a fuss, however temporary…He might have done it to wind me up a little as well.
