Creator Ryan Murphy reveals the new season will take place at an East Coast mental institution. By Jocelyn Vena Dylan McDermott in “American Horror Story” Photo: FX New place, new time, new characters. That’s what fans already know about the second season of “American Horror Story,” but now creator Ryan Murphy is dishing even more details. Speaking at a TV Academy panel Wednesday (April 19), Murphy confirmed that the second season in the series will, in fact, take place at a mental institution on the East Coast, as had been rumored. That institution will be run by season-one fan favorite Jessica Lange, who will return as a spankin’-new character. According to Murphy, that locale was teased by Sarah Paulson’s medium character in the first season. “Something that Sarah Paulson’s character, Billie Dean, says to Jessica and Taisa as she’s sage-ing the house [during the ‘Birth’ episode] and talking about places where evil collects: We talk about institutions and prisons and things like that,” Murphy said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “That was the clue.” Paulson is also set to return to the show, playing someone new, as well as Zachary Quinto, Evan Peters and Lily Rabe. While season one was set in the present, Murphy hinted that season two will take place in another time. “It’s a completely different world and has nothing to do with season one; there’s not a mention of season one,” he noted at the event, where he was joined by past castmates Connie Britton, Dylan McDermott, Alexandra Breckenridge and Denis O’Hare, most of whom met tragic fates in season one. But he added that some of those actors may also return in some form. In addition to some old faces, Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine has been added to the cast, playing one-half of “The Lovers.” French actress Lizzie Brochere has also joined the cast, potentially playing a nemesis to Lange’s character. The new season will kick off later this year on FX. What are you expecting from season two of “American Horror Story”? Share your theories in the comments!

I love the bullshit scandal about Beyonce faking her pregnancy….I don’t know why, maybe it is cuz it is such a ridiculous thing to do…even though I have my theories about Jay Z and her being business partners and not actually fuck partners….cuz Jay Z owns the right to Rihanna and according to Esquire she’s the sexiest bitch of 2011…so why would he bother with some fat has been trying to hold on….see I figure Beyonce just wants to maintain a relationship with her fried chicken, you know rekindle it like back when they sponsored her tour and she had an all access pass to their deep fried goodness, while getting press that she’s a mom, only to adopt a kid in 9 months and pretend it is hers…. The whole thing may be confusing, but I’m sure it is fact..but then again I’m a pretty paranoid person and I believe nothing…especially when the baby bump folds in half….and Beyonce’s the kind of girl who only fucks herself in front of the mirror while laying on a pile of diamonds…who knows…but more importantly…who cares… Here she is busting out.

Chris Marrs Piliero explains the video’s ‘Half Baked’ and ‘Terminator’ homages, but what about those elusive seashells? By Kara Warner Britney Spears in her “I Wanna Go” music video Photo: Jive Britney Spears’ video for “I Wanna Go” — a dream-sequence-y, pop-culture-reference-packed tongue-in-cheek attack on the paparazzi — is so fun, it’s quickly becoming one of our favorites. And because we can’t get enough of it, MTV News sought out the vid’s creative mastermind, director Chris Marrs Piliero (who also directed Ke$ha’s “Blow”), to explain it to us, frame by frame. “This opening scene poked fun at the ridiculous rumors that surround Britney,” Piliero said of the clip’s opening press conference, during which Britney tells off a room of reporters. “That is our homage to ‘Half Baked.’ I was really stoked that we were able to include that little parody homage in the video and that Guillermo Diaz, who is the guy [in the scene] giving the thumbs up, is from the movie.” After strutting out of the press conference and squeezing the butt of an autograph-seeking fan (played by one of her dancers), Spears strolls down the street, passing by a baby in a stroller who whistles at her. “We were actually going to have three babies,” Piliero revealed. “But the other two were just crying and crying. and I was like ‘F— it, get ’em outta there,’ and the one baby, he ruled and was super cute, so we went with him.” Spears’ next saucy move is to flash a bunch of guys on the street: a young boy, his dad, a male driver getting a ticket and the cop writing it. “That little kid was awesome,” Piliero said of the young redheaded boy. “If you look closely, he’s actually squeezing his juice box all over this shirt. The cop is another one of Britney’s dancers. You might recognize him from the ‘Hold It Against Me’ video, he had blue hair.” Next up, Spears encounters a paparazzo on the street and grabs his camera and throws it to the ground. “That was a very genuine performance from Britney,” Piliero said of the scene. “I felt like she was letting out her inner emotion toward paparazzi. It was also really cold. I think she just went for it.” Cut to Spears on top of a taxi, microphone in hand with a long cord, which she uses to take out the various photographers who have surrounded her. “A lot of people think this was inspired by ‘Kill Bill,’ because I’m a huge Quentin Tarantino fan. I would totally own up to that if it was true,” he admitted. “But I actually intended for her to always having her performance with the microphone [throughout the video] for her performance setup, so I thought that was a good way to tie it all together and I didn’t want to give her a real weapon.” But Piliero was making an intentional pop-culture reference with the wording on the movie theater marquee in the background of the scene that reads “Crossroads 2: Cross Harder.” “I’ve always thought that ‘Die Hard 2: Die Harder’ is one of the most ridiculously awesome titles for a sequel ,” he said. “And I needed to put something in the marquee, and I thought it would be a really fun Easter egg for fans.” Now something odd happens with the paparazzi who’ve been hit by Spears’ microphone weapon — they are revealed to be robots or androids. “I love pop culture and this whole video is kind of a dream sequence,” Piliero said. “I think it’s natural to have fantasies and dreams with stuff inspired by pop culture, so that’s why the robot guys kind of have a ‘Terminator’-ish feel.” Before the “Terminator” ‘bots can move in on Spears, Diaz drives up in a sports car and whisks her away, where he celebrates by pouring a carton of milk all over himself. “Guillermo kills it in the scene with the milk, he’s hilarious,” Piliero enthused. “And I love Britney’s reaction there; both her reactions where she’s laughing are so good. A lot of people ask about the milk and what the deal with it is, a lot of people have theories too, I don’t need to say what the point is, because I love hearing what people say, so I’ll leave it at that. Same goes with the seashells too.” Cut to the final scene, where we realize that it was all a dream. Spears is at the press conference, shaken out of a daze when Guillermo steps in and tells the reporters, “No more questions,” then hands Spears a handful of those seashells that Piliero won’t explain. He looks back at the camera at the last moment and we see his eyes are robot red, an obvious nod to Michael Jackson’s zombie-green eyes in the last shot of “Thriller.” ” ‘Thriller is one of my favorite music videos ever,” Piliero said. “I remember watching it when I was five, that was what inspired me to become a music video director so I wanted to pay homage to it.” What do you think the milk and the seashells signify in “I Wanna Go”? At the MTV Movie Awards, J.J. Abrams and Co. gave an exclusive peek at what triggers his flick’s chaotic chain of events. By Kara Warner Joel Courtney, Ryan Lee and Riley Griffiths in “Super 8” Photo: Paramount The masterfully mysterious marketing campaign behind J.J. Abrams’ would-be blockbuster “Super 8” — which has included teasers, the super8secret.com site, TV spots and other veiled preview pieces — will officially come to an end this Friday, when the film finally opens nationwide in theaters. Until then, however, we must turn your attention to one more bit of teasery: the exclusive extended “Super 8” clip that was presented during the 2011 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday (June 5). Introduced by none other than Abrams, executive producer Steven Spielberg, and stars Elle Fanning and Joel Courtney, this new footage takes us closer to the mystery than we’ve been able to get thus far. The spot opens with six kids (Fanning, Courtney, Riley Griffiths, Gabriel Basso, Ryan Lee and Zach Mills) in the middle of shooting their own movie at a train station, late at night. The sound of an oncoming train disrupts the scene, followed by the blaring of the train whistle, a shot of a truck speeding onto the track and colliding into the train, creating a chaotic explosion, which is captured by the super 8 camera that the kids were using to film their movie. This then sets into motion a series of action sequences, all pegged to the mystery of what prompted the train crash and what classified cargo may or may not have been onboard. There are eerie non-human sound effects, quick cuts of a small town in turmoil over a series of inexplicable events, explosions, military officials trying to decide how to destroy the certain something that is causing all the destruction, and our kid heroes caught up in the middle of it. So, wow. What does it all mean? For those who prefer not to dig too deep into trailers and teaser footage, we respect your willpower and desire to remain unspoiled. For those who’ve been analyzing every bit of tape since Abrams announced the film, do you have it figured out yet? What is this unidentified object that has sent this small town into an uproar and called military forces to action? Share your theories in the comments below! ‘There’s a public Britney and there’s a private Britney, and they’re very different,’ Larry Rudolph tells MTV News of Britney-on-Britney battle. By James Dinh, with reporting by Jim Cantiello Britney Spears in her “Hold It Against Me” video Photo: Jive Even with the fashion , dancing and technology elements of Britney Spears’ just-premiered video for “Hold It Against Me,” the pop singer’s one-on-one battle with herself seems to be the most talked-about scene. Larry Rudolph, the pop princess’ longtime manager spoke to MTV News via Skype after the video premiere about the climactic fight sequence and further clarified earlier reports that indicated that Britney had used a body double for the clip’s dance scenes. “It was good,” Rudolph said of combat scene. “Of course, there was a body double in there that she was fighting most of the time, which is where some confusion came in. … I heard some rumors that she used a body double. The reality is, she used a body double for the fight scene, ’cause it’s all the fight herself.” So what does the epic battle scene mean to him? While he hopes fans draw their own conclusions, he shared his theories with MTV News. “There are really two different Britneys,” he said. “There’s a public Britney and there’s a private Britney, and they’re very different. Maybe the world doesn’t really know that, maybe those of us who do know her really well understand that, but there really are two different Britneys. Maybe at some times the two Britneys are at odds with each other; most of the time they’re not. There’s some of that going on. I think it’s also about Britney just being strong and still on top after all these years. … But there’s a few different ways to look at it.” What meaning did you get from the Britney-on-Britney fight scene? A rep for rapper/producer says viral video isn’t referring to long-awaited album’s release date. By Jayson Rodriguez Dr. Dre Photo: Johnny Nunez/ WireImage After a video went viral of Dr. Dre seemingly announcing an April 20 release date for his long-awaited Detox, a rep for the rapper/producer told MTV News that the clip wasn’t referring to the album’s arrival. So what was the legendary producer referring to in the clip? That remains unclear at press time. Dr. Dre has been at work on his highly anticipated LP for years now, scraping together several versions of the songs at various times; in one case, he gave several beats slated for his project to 50 Cent for the G-Unit superstar’s debut album. In November, Dre’s first single, “Kush,” hit the Web and was soon followed by a potential follow-up, the Eminem-assisted “I Need a Doctor.” A month later, Dre premiered the video for “Kush” featuring Snoop Dogg and Akon. The clip, along with a cover story in the latest issue of hip-hop magazine XXL, seemed to confirm that the rap Chinese Democracy was finally slated for release. The producer’s penchant for perfectionism has long been the reason for the delay of Detox, which will be Dre’s first album since his 2001 LP in 1999. “[I’m] trying to put it out by the end of the fall,” Dre said in an interview this past summer about Detox. “Trying to give everybody what they’ve been waitin’ for and make sure they’re not disappointed; that’s all I’m doing.” What do you think Dre was referring to in the viral video?
