Last week, sources claimed that Sugar Bear Thompson would not fight for custody of Honey Boo Boo on the condition that June Shannon cut ties with Mark McDaniel. McDaniel molested Anna Shannon – June’s eldest daughter – when she was just 4 years old, and Thompson was reportedly very concerned for the safety of his youngest child. Even so, he planned to give Shannon time to provide a safer environment for 9-year-old Alana (better known as Honey Boo Boo), in part because he didn’t have a place of his own in which to raise her. Now, Thompson has reportedly changed his mind and has begun contacting lawyers about having Alana removed from June’s home ASAP. The cause of the sudden urgency is unknown, but it may have something to do with a revelation made by Sugar Bear’s brother earlier today. Lee Thompson claims that he has photographs of Mark McDaniel in bed with Honey Boo Boo . It was previously known that McDaniel had spent time in Alana’s presence, but June and other insiders swore that there was never any physical contact between them and that all of their visits were supervised. The knowledge that a convicted child molester allegedly slept next to his daughter might have spurred Thompson to action. Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and Family 1. See how that works ? Students Object To African-American Label So Teacher Calls Them N***** Guess that’s just the natural progression from one identification to another…smh Via HuffingtonPost Last week, an Illinois substitute teacher reportedly called a group of four middle school girls the N-word after they asked not to be called African-American. The incident occurred at Jay Stream Middle School in the town of Carol Stream during an eighth-grade social studies class. When interviewed by local news outlet WMAQ, student Mea Thompson, who is of Jamaican descent, said they asked the teacher not to call them African-American since none of them are from Africa. “She said, ‘It’s the politically correct term.’ Then she said, ‘Well, back then you guys would be considered the N-word,’” Thompson said, recalling the exchange. “We were so shocked and we were like, ‘What? Excuse me? That’s not correct to call us that.’ She was like, ‘Well, back then that’s what African-Americans were called.’” The teacher allegedly used the N-word several times over the 80-minute class period. “After the shock and hurt, I’m angry,” Thompson’s mother, Shayna, said. “It’s a new world, and the people of the past that still hang onto hatred and bigotry don’t belong in this world anymore.” When reached for comment, the District Superintendent William Shields said the events in the classroom are still unclear, but said the teacher would not be returning to the school. While the teacher has been removed from her post at the school, there seem to be some who are attempting to defend her “We’re finding that an awful lot of the accounts on the specific words and actions are extremely inconsistent, so it’s very hard to judge this situation,” Shields told The Huffington Post. “We’re proud of the kids. We want them to be able to come to administrators and teachers to speak about issues of not feeling safe or secure. That being said … we’re not having the substitute back because the substitute attempted to teach a lesson outside the curriculum, which we didn’t authorize.” Inconsistencies be damned! Bye, beyotch! The star of the newly-canceled TLC reality show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo may have been even more rife with scandal than originally believed. Executives axed the show amid reports of matriarch June “Mama June” Shannon dating her ex-boyfriend Mark McDaniel, a convicted child molester. June Shannon and Mark McDaniel dated before his 10-year prison sentence, and he even molested one of June’s daughter’s prior to being locked up. McDaniel is not the first sex offender Shannon has been linked to, though. The father of Shannon’s daughter Jessica, Michael Anthony Ford, was arrested in 2005 and later convicted for the sexual exploitation of a child over the Internet. According to Georgia Department of Corrections, he was sentenced to a maximum of four years behind bars and 10 years of probation for the criminal offense. He is still behind bars on a separate charge of child abandonment. The fathers of Shannon’s other children, including estranged husband David Michael “ Sugar Bear ” Thompson, also have criminal records, albeit not for sex crimes. The father of the titular Honey Boo Boo (Alana Thompson), Suge was sentenced to to five years for robbing a series of campsites and setting fire to another. David Dunn, the father of Anna Thompson, did time for stealing a handgun and later for stealing a carton of cigarettes. June sure knows how to pick ’em. Anna was molested by Mark McDaniel before he went to prison, while Honey Boo Boo was exposed to him after he got out this year, photo evidence shows. She and Sugar Bear split not long after Mark got out of the slammer. All of which begs the question of why June wasn’t vetted by producers of Toddlers & Tiaras , where Alana got her reality TV start, or Here Comes Honey Boo Boo . Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and Family 1. A basic background check would have shown that Shannon and McDaniel were connected via a residential address, along with several other names. McDaniel’s name comes up as an “associated” name listed at a Stockbridge, Ga., address between 1996-2009 – the same as June’s address from 2001-07. When the two shows premiered, in 2009 and 2012, respectively, he was in jail. In any case, “Background checks don’t catch everything,” one Hollywood lawyer said. “And then you have the issue of juvenile records, which aren’t shown.” Discovery had to abruptly cancel Sons of Guns, after star Will Hayden was arrested on multiple charges of rape and sexual assault against minors this year. In this case, Hayden had no prior sexual offenses, so Discovery would have had no way of knowing about the alleged crimes except from the victims. One high-powered reality TV executive says these two shows may change how diligently cast and crew members are vetted from this point on, however. “This will force companies to go much deeper,” explained the source. “If a child is involved in a show, the entire crew undergoes background checks too.” “That is likely to become more thorough as well.” 13 Scandals That Rocked Reality TV 1. Hold up ! Hold his phone! SNL Rep Claims Kenan Thompson Is Not Leaving The Show Via HuffingtonPost A “Saturday Night Live” spokesperson has called a TMZ report that claims Kenan Thompson will leave “SNL” following the show’s 40th season “inaccurate.” According to the rep, “the season hasn’t even started and cast decisions aren’t made until the end of the season.” Earlier on Monday, TMZ wrote that Thompson was set to leave the show before next season, Season 41, to focus on other projects. (Per TMZ, Thompson was going to leave after Season 39, but Lorne Michaels, the show’s executive producer, convinced him to stay for Season 40.) Thompson has been a cast member on “SNL” since 2003, and broke the record for longest serving black cast member. Of the current cast, he’s been on the show the longest. When asked during an interview with EW last year if he would ever leave the show, Thompson joked, “I’m never leaving.” “Saturday Night Live” returns this weekend with host Chris Pratt and musical guest Ariana Grande. For E!, the show must go on. Two weeks after the death of Joan Rivers , the network announced on Friday that Fashion Police will return to the air without its beloved late star. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Joan Rivers and, for the last two weeks, have turned our attention to honoring her memory on all of our platforms,” E! said via statement, continuing: “We have also thought long and hard about what Joan would have wanted as it pertains to the future of Fashion Police. We decided, with Melissa Rivers’ blessing, that Joan would have wanted the franchise to continue. “Fashion Police will return in 2015 commencing with Golden Globes coverage on Monday, Jan. 12. No further details will be announced at this time.” The weekly celebrity style roundup, we presume, will still be co-hosted by Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne and George Kotsiopoulos. Earlier this week, Rancic had said she was uncertain about the show’s future and that E! was “looking at different scenarios.” On Friday evening, meanwhile, E! aired a 90-minute a “Fashion Police: Celebrating Joan” special. On the program, daughter Melissa Rivers talked about her mother’s impact, revealing that President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama sent her their condolences. “I received a hand-written note saying ‘Not only did she make us laugh, she made us think,'” the proud daughter said, a big smile on her face. It is, tragically, all over between Sugar Bear Thompson and June Shannon . But, fortunately, it is not all over between Sugar Bear Thompson and the TLC series that has made him (semi) famous. Despite his split from the show’s matriarch – amidst rumors that he cheated on Shannon – TMZ confirms that Sugar Bear will remain a key cast member on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. Producers are hoping to avoid a John & Kate Plus 8-like implosion of the popular reality program, especially because Sugar Bear is the main character’s biological father. Insiders believe it would be “ridiculously incomplete” to air episodes without him and simply plan on making his separation from Shannon a part of the new season. “To tell the truth it’s good for the show. It had hit a bit of a lull and now there are tons of story lines … dating, single parenting, breakup,” a source tells TMZ. Somewhere, Kendra Wilkinson is nodding along in agreement. Look for Mama June to be featured even more prominently when Here Comes Honey Boo Boo returns, but for her to be portrayed as the rock of the family. Not as some emotional basket case. It should be an interesting upcoming season. Do you need to catch up before it airs? Go watch Here Comes Honey Boo Boo online via TV Fanatic. Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and Family 1. You’d think a 65-year-old man would have good enough sense to know not to trust wiring money to a stranger ! Man Sues OKCupid.com For Not Warning About Dangers Of Online Dating But apparently EVERYTHING has to come with a warning label these days. According to NY Daily News reports : A Queens man is suing online dating service OkCupid.com after a failed relationship that started on the site set him back over $70,000. Michael Picciano says in papers filed in Manhattan Supreme Court that when he found a man calling himself Bruce Thompson in February 2013, he “felt safe and trusted the profile” of the man because of the dating site’s reputation. Picciano, 65, says that after 10 days of chatting on the site, he and Thompson moved to personal emails at Thompson’s suggestion. About a month later, Thompson made his first telephone call to Picciano and by the end of March, Thompson was asking for money for a new computer parts business. “Believing his story because he now trusted Thompson based on their multiple daily conversations,” Picciano went to his bank — the Little Neck branch of Capital One — and made two wire transfers worth a total of $12,000 to a Charles Willard in Dallas, Texas, according to court papers. When those funds were returned to Capital One, Thompson asked Picciano to send the money instead to the account of Dennis E. Racer in Addison, Texas, according to the court papers. Picciano sent a third wire transfer of $12,000 to Edmond Thebeau in Ontario, Canada and a fourth wire in mid April to MacBenson and Associates in Manchester, England. The wire transfers added up to a whopping $70,460. Picciano eventually discovered none of the recipients were legit and the money instead went to Thompson’s accounts, according to his suit. However, all of the wire transfer reports issued to Picciano by Capitol One had the bank’s name and address as the recipient instead of the real recipient. Late last April, a friend searched the internet and found Thompson’s name on a website called malescammers.com, the suit says. Picciano says he contacted the NYPD and he gave a detective a $100,000 forged check that Thompson had sent Picciano to gain his trust. According to court papers, a police crime lab didn’t find fingerprints on the check and learned that the software used to create the check could not be traced. Picciano says he believes Thompson is back on OkCupid, trolling for new victims and using the screen name “bigheartedbt,” according to the court papers. Picciano is faulting the website for not giving subscribers warnings and Capital One for not getting him the proper information about where his wire transfers were really being received. There was no immediate comment from the bank or the parent company of OkCupid, IAC.com. What kinda cyber schlong was homeboy slanging to talk dude out of that kind of money after knowing him just a few months?! And why didn’t he think to check malescammers.com BEFORE wiring the money? Just sayin! Do you think OKCupid owes this guy ANYTHING? Shutterstock
