Taylor Lautner’s ‘Abduction’ Hero Vs. Jason Bourne: Who Would Win?

Lautner will debut the ‘Abduction’ trailer and chat with MTV News on Wednesday at 7:56 p.m. ET. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Taylor Lautner Photo: MTV News Only one more day until “Twilight” superstar Taylor Lautner graces MTV News with his hunky presence for “MTV First: Taylor Lautner,” which premieres on air and online Wednesday at 7:56 p.m. ET. The 19-year-old star will exclusively debut the first trailer from his upcoming action/thriller “Abduction,” after which the conversation will move to MTV.com where Lautner will sit down with MTV News’ Josh Horowitz for a 30-minute interview. If you Lautner fans weren’t already excited about this exclusive event, we’ve got a little sneak peek of what you’ll be privy to when you tune in and log on for our latest “MTV First.” During the interview, Lautner discusses the similarities and inevitable comparisons between his confused young character, Nathan Price, and Jason Bourne. “I would say Nathan Price’s journey takes place before Jason Bourne’s started,” Lautner explained. “When Jason realized, when he was searching for his true identity, he was already a trained expert.” How about Nathan vs. Jason — who would win? “I think Nathan would need a little more training,” Lautner said. “Give him a couple years, and we’ll get there.” Lautner’s co-star Lily Collins recently offered her thoughts on the Bourne comparisons, giving major props to Lautner for his work on the film. “[He is] very Jason Bourne-esque, of course, with his own twist on it,” Collins explained to MTV News of Taylor’s character in the film. “It’s a complete departure from Jacob. Obviously I’m in the movie so I’m biased, but I think it’s going to completely shock his fans, and people that necessarily don’t know him very well as Jacob that aren’t ‘Twilight’ fans. I think he brings an aspect people haven’t seen yet and [it’s] very, very exciting.” Don’t miss “MTV First: Taylor Lautner” this Wednesday at 7:56 p.m. ET on MTV and MTV.com. Tune in to see Lautner debut the trailer for “Abduction,” followed by a live 30-minute interview on MTV.com. Tweet questions using the hashtag #asktaylor to get in the conversation! Peter Jackson Explains Why He’s Filming The Hobbit at Groundbreaking Frame Rate

Writing from the set of The Hobbit , Peter Jackson took to Facebook Monday to blog his thoughts on filming at 48 frames per second — the increased frame rate championed by folks like James Cameron, who will use it to blow minds in Avatar 2 and 3 . Jackson is currently filming The Hobbit in 3-D at 48 fps instead of the industry standard 24 fps, and as a result, the Lord of the Rings follow-up will be the first wide release to pave the way into a brave new digital world of filmmaking — whether or not theaters around the world are ready for it.

3 On-Point Ways To Avoid Morning Distractions

Some mornings I wake up and feel like I’m being pulled in lots of different directions. I am usually distracted by all sorts of things: miscellaneous emails, my cell phone ringing, 38 text messages, the dirty dishes in my sink and the unpaid gas and electric bill sitting in my face. And these are just things I remember being distracted by today! There may be days when you may be convinced that the world is conspiring to keep you from getting anything of substance done. Much of the time, the things that distract us are things that need to get done… but they aren’t necessarily what we should be focusing on right that second. What are some things that distract you from your goals and dreams? How do you keep your focus where it should be? Here are a few ways you can be sure you are on point. 1. Make a to-do list – Make sure you know what you should be doing, and try to plan out the order of priority for each thing to do. Even if it’s something as simple as taking out the garbage, it still needs to be taken care of. 2. Say a morning prayer or mantra – Take a moment to meditate and either pray or repeat your personal mantra to get the day started. It will get your gears grinding! “God of all times and places, you have brought us to the beginning of a new day. Surround us in the same with your all-embracing love, and grant that this day we turn not aside into sin, nor be overcome by adversity, but let our thoughts, words, and deeds, in some small way, make for the coming of your Kingdom on earth. Through Christ our Lord” – Morning Prayer 3. Don’t entertain fools and foolishness – If there are people who like to call you with catty gossip or vent to you about their latest weekend drama (we all have these friends, I know I do!) try to avoid them in the morning. Try not to listen to negative music, rants on the radio or anything sexual that may throw you off your focus by putting images in your mind that are not in tune with your daily goals. We’ve all been to the point where there’s a lot going on in our lives, but the key is to stay focused on what’s really important. Keep your eyes on the prize! Robert Pattinson Says ‘Cosmopolis’ Co-Star Sarah Gadon Has ‘A Great Face’

Actor also tells MTV News about working on a ‘very specific accent’ for the David Cronenberg film. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Robert Pattinson Photo: MTV News Thanks to all the quality time MTV News has been getting with Robert Pattinson lately, via our “MTV First: Robert Pattinson” and “Water for Elephants” interviews, we’ve been able to glean a few fun details from the “Twilight” superstar about his upcoming projects, including the highly anticipated “Breaking Dawn: Part 1,” of course, as well as the slightly more mysterious “Cosmopolis.” What we know so far is that Pattinson will be directed by David Cronenberg in the role of young finance guru Eric Packer, opposite Sarah Gadon , who recently signed on to play Packer’s estranged wife. The novel is a modern reinterpretation of James Joyce’s classic “Ulysses,” set in New York in the year 2000, around the burst of the dot-com bubble. Most of the action in the book takes place over the course of one day, in the limousine Packer takes to his various errands. When MTV News caught up with Pattinson, we asked him for his thoughts on his new co-star. “I’ve seen a couple of things she’s done. She’s really good,” Pattinson said of Gadon. “She has a great face. … I haven’t talked to her yet, but I think it’s going to be a great cast.” Regarding other prep work he’s doing before filming begins sometime next month, Pattinson is getting some voice coaching. “I’m working with a dialect coach now. There’s this very specific accent,” he said. “And yeah, just sort of various sort of things.” For those unfamiliar with Gadon, a 23-year-old Toronto native, she most recently worked with Cronenberg in his “A Dangerous Method” and has a slew of TV credits to her name, including the SOAP Net series “Being Erica” and ABC’s “Happy Town.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . ‘Hunger Games’ Experts Weigh In On Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth

‘I think we were a little bit shocked,’ the Hob’s Amanda Belcher tells MTV News. By Amy Wilkinson Josh Hutcherson Photo: Alberto E. Rodriguez/ Getty Images Casting for the most anticipated love triangle since Edward, Bella and Jacob is now complete. On Monday, Lionsgate announced that Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth would star as Peeta Mellark and Gale Hawthorne alongside Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen in the big-screen adaptation of “The Hunger Games.” The news came on the heels of rumors that the two were front-runners among the pack of Hollywood’s young men auditioning for the coveted roles. Yet, despite a bit of early warning, “Hunger Games” fans and experts alike were largely surprised by the casting news. “I think we were a little bit shocked, especially when the rumors first broke last week that Josh and Liam were the front-runners,” said Amanda Belcher of the Hob . “We hadn’t really expected that out of all the people that were listed on the short list of people for both Peeta and Gale.” Fan reactions have ranged from pleased (@The SiennaSkye: “Josh Hutcherson was cast as Peeta Mellark!? YES! They picked a cutie!! (:”) to outraged (@meggiedear: “Worst. Casting. News. Ever. [Especially 4 Gale]. R.I.P. Hunger Games movie”). Yet, Belcher said many initially wary fans have changed their tune since the news first sent the Internet ablaze. “Surprisingly, I feel like when the official news got posted, they’ve come around a little bit,” she said. “There’s still quite a few who say, ‘I’m not going to watch this movie. I’m so upset at this casting.’ Then there’s a lot of them that say, ‘You know what? These aren’t our first choices, and we don’t really like them, but we’re going to put our trust in Lionsgate.’ ” One of the chief concerns among fans seems to be that Hutcherson and Hemsworth don’t closely resemble the characters from the book — an issue that was also raised following Lawrence’s casting. “I have a hard time picturing Josh and Liam as Peeta and Gale, but I want to give them the benefit of the doubt,” said “Hunger Games” Examiner Sara Gundell. Mockingjay.net administrator Kimmy West said most fans stuck on the actors’ looks will most likely get onboard once they see the stars’ chemistry and performances for themselves. “[The actors] have to prove to the fans that they’re the good person for the role. Because the moment that people realize that these actors are perfect in the role, hopefully then all the fans will warm up to them and agree that they are good.” What do you think of the Josh Hutcherson/ Liam Hemsworth casting news? Carrie Underwood Is ‘Loving’ New ‘American Idol’ Panel

‘Steven and J.Lo are doing such an amazing job,’ she tells MTV News. By Kara Warner Carrie Underwood Photo: MTV News Carrie Underwood has come a long way since she was the wide-eyed winner of “American Idol” back in 2005 — with a Grammy-winning country career under her belt — but she still takes the time to watch the show that made her a star. When MTV News caught up with Underwood recently as she promoted her acting debut in the new film “Soul Surfer,” we had to ask her thoughts on the changes to the new season, particularly the new faces added to the judges’ panel. “I am loving the judges,” Underwood said. “I know Simon [Cowell] was always such a huge part of the show, but if I had just started watching now, I wouldn’t miss it, you know what I mean? I think Steven [Tyler] and J.Lo are doing such an amazing job. I actually got the chance to talk to Steven Tyler, and I was like, ‘I’m finding out that I like you more than I thought I did.’ ” Underwood said she liked the Aerosmith frontman before he joined the show, but she’s enjoying seeing a softer side of his rock-star persona. “I’ve always liked Steven Tyler the artist, but as a person, he’s really coming across [as] charming and warm and friendly and encouraging,” she said. “Of course we always knew that J.Lo is sweet and beautiful, and she’s just confirming all of our previous thoughts about her by being on the show. I’m really enjoying watching it.” So who are her favorite contestants? “I always have a few that I’m watching, but I never say who they are because I remember what it was like when I was on the show, and I never liked that [when past contestants picked favorites].” Get your “Idol” fix on MTV News’ “American Idol” page , where you’ll find all the latest news, interviews and opinions.

Lil Wayne, Paris Hilton Bond Over Jail Time In Interview

The rapper and the heiress also discuss astrology, animals and, of course, music in the April issue of the magazine. By James Montgomery Lil Wayne Photo: Alexander Tamargo/Getty Images In the April issue of Interview magazine , Lil Wayne and Paris Hilton bond over their love of animals, music and Miami hotspots … and, of course, their time behind bars, too. In a cross-country phone call — Wayne was at home in Miami while Hilton was taking a break from shooting a reality series in Los Angeles — the pair discussed a variety of topics (Googling themselves, the paparazzi, astrology, etc.,), but really broke the ice when the conversation turned to their respective jail sentences. Wayne did eight months at New York’s Rikers Island after a gun-possession arrest, while Hilton famously served 23 days in 2007 following a parole violation. “For me, it was OK, because it just meant that I was alone in my thoughts,” Wayne said when asked about the portion of his sentence he served in solitary confinement, after being caught with an MP3 player. “There were times when it was pretty tough to be by yourself, and to have no television, no nothing. That was kind of tough.” “I had to do 24 nights in solitary,” Hilton added [during her sentence, she was held in a separate cell as a safety precaution]. “Oh, so you know how it is?” Wayne responded. “Yeah, I know how it is,” Hilton said. The discussion then turned to being released from prison — an experience Wayne said “words cannot explain,” and one Hilton called “the best feeling in the world” — and how that newfound freedom affects the individual. “You’re definitely more in tune to what you’re doing. You’re definitely more humble,” Wayne explained. “I think that most people who come out of that situation just want to make the most of life afterwards. Honestly, it was just one big humbling experience.” And in keeping with that life-affirming sentiment — following some in-depth talk about travel and zodiac signs and Weezy’s pet sharks — both Wayne and Hilton discussed what’s next for them: Hilton said she’d “really love” to finish her long-in-the-works second album, while Wayne … well, he has more tangible goals. “I want to bank a cool $50 million at least,” he said. “At the end of the year, I want to be able to say that I banked $50 million. Not generated $50 million, but actually banked $50 million.” Related Photos Lil Wayne Heads To Rikers Island Moments In Paris Hilton’s Legal Life Related Artists Lil Wayne Paris Hilton
