Andy Richter Finally Over ‘Bad Breakup’ With NBC

It’s taken 6 months and a 30-city comedy tour, but Andy Richter is finally over his Tonight Show heartbreak. “It’s like a bad breakup,” Richter told Variety . “Once you get over it, you don’t want to dwell.” It also helps that the comedian — who says he never would have abandoned Conan O’B rien after such an “unnatural ending,” unlike Max Weinberg — has a more cooperative network behind him. “[TBS] has been nothing but supportive. We can do whatever we want and be ourselves.” [ Variety ]

Drake Performs Raucous Rendition Of ‘Over’ On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’

Appearance was very different from MC’s restrained set on ‘Tonight Show’ the night before. By Jayson Rodriguez Drake on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Thursday Photo: ABC One day after performing on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno,” a much different Drake appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Thursday to perform a raucous rendition of his hit “Over.” The set was nearly as rowdy as his “Find Your Love” set on “The Tonight Show” was restrained . The upstart MC was energetic from the onset of the rumbling strings. “Alright, bottles on me/ Long as someone drinks it,” Drake rapped, backed by his band. “Never drop the ball/ What are y’all thinking/ Making sure that Young Money ship is never sinking/ ‘Bout to set if off in this thing, Jada Pinkett.” Sporting a dark varsity jacket, blue jeans, gray T-shirt and Nikes, Drake bounced all around the stage. He tossed his sunglasses off as he frantically ended his second verse and launched into the chorus. “I know way too many people here right now that I didn’t know last year, who the f— are y’all,” he sang on the hook. “I swear it feels like the last few nights we been everywhere and back, but I just can’t remember it all.” Drake dropped to his knees during his third verse and sprang back up towards the end of the number, showing no lingering effect after knee surgery last year . Currently, the rapper has the #1 album in the country after selling 447,000 copies of his debut, Thank Me Later. The “So Far Gone” star is also dominating the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart as seven songs from Thank Me Later appear, from singles “Find Your Love” and “Over” to album cuts like “Miss Me,” “Up All Night,” “Fireworks,” “Fancy,” and bonus track “9AM in Dallas,” a freestyle rap that leaked online days before the album release. Drake Serves Up A Quiet Storm On ‘The Tonight Show’

Rising star delivers hushed version of ‘Find Your Love.’ By Jayson Rodriguez Drake performs on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on Wednesday Photo: NBC Drake reached deep into his R&B consciousness Wednesday night as the rapper/crooner delivered a muted rendition of his hit “Find Your Love” during an acoustic set on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” Decked out in all black (except for his footwear), the So Far Gone star held steady on stage and in hushed vocals opened the number over minimal instrumentation. “I’m more than just an option,” he began, over spare keyboard stabs and drum licks. “Hey, hey, hey/ Refused to be forgotten/ Hey, hey, hey/ I took a chance with my heart/ Hey, hey, hey/ I feel it taking over/ I better find your love.” It wasn’t until nearly halfway through the song when Drake picked up the tempo, though still measured and restrained. The “Find Your Love” performance marks the second time the Toronto lyricist has appeared on “The Tonight Show.” Last June, Drake joined Jamie Foxx on the Conan O’Brien edition of the late night franchise as the two performed the actor’s “Digital Girl” remix. At the time, Drake had only finished his verse to the song just hours before, recalling days later how nervous he was trying to remember his lyrics. “The biggest challenge of that whole day, aside from being on ‘Conan’ and being nervous initially about that, was [trying to] remember the 24-bar verse I just recorded the night before,” Drake told MTV News at the time. “It was an all-around challenging day, but when I’m under pressure, I always seem to rise to the occasion in some form.” MTV followed Drake in the weeks leading up to the release of his new LP, Thank Me Later. The “Drake: Better Than Good Enough” documentary will re-air on MTV Thursday at 6 p.m., Friday at 4 p.m., Saturday at 12 p.m. and 9 p.m., and Sunday at 9 a.m. Related Videos ‘Drake: Better Than Good Enough’ Related Photos Drake’s Style: From A To Drizzy Related Artists Drake

Late Shift Author Bill Carter on ConanGate, Letterman’s Heirs and the Cannibalization of Late Night

Of all the journalists who covered the dramatic ups and downs of late night television this year, only one has made the genre his journalistic purview. Reacquaint yourselves with Bill Carter: New York Times media reporter, bestselling author of The Late Shift and the authority on late night. In spite of the tens of thousands of headlines already devoted to Conan, Leno and Letterman in 2010, the late night industry is still relatively small, with a handful of hosts, a few hundred employees and several tightly guarded doors. As evidenced by his definitive book about the battle over Johnny Carson’s crown, Carter is the only person with complete access to this cutthroat world. In anticipation of his upcoming chronicle, The War For Late Night: When Leno Went Early and Television Went Crazy , which will be published in September , Movieline picked Carter’s brain about another HBO adaptation, a potential Tonight Show down at the Emmys and the reason why Conan might contribute to the collapse of late night.

Robert Pattinson Dishes on Eclipse Make Out Scenes, Twihards

If you listen to tabloid rumors, Robert Pattinson has either dumped Kristen Stewart or is about to be dumped by Kristen Stewart. But if you listed to this Twilight Saga star himself, well, you won’t hear anything at all about his real-life relationship. Still, Parade was able to get Robert to open up about kissing Kristen – in Eclipse , at least. Check out the following excerpts from Pattinson’s recent interview with that publication: On Edward/Bella lip locks : “Kissing felt a little bit more natural in Eclipse , even if there was plenty of it. In New Moon and Twilight it was always like, ‘Oh, I’m gonna kill you if I kiss you’ or something. It was always kind of odd. But, in this one, they both understand their situation a lot more, which makes it easier. It’s the first time Kristen and I have been able to just act like a normal couple.” On Edward wanting to wait : “Nowadays, everyone just goes around screwing everyone for no reason. Edward doesn’t really want to sort of cheapen his relationship with Bella, even though she’s pushing him to go all the way. He’s got this certain idea of how it should go with the love of his life. He wants to do it right and not just follow his base instincts. I guess I’m a bit old fashioned in that way as well.” So… are he and Kristen dating? “I guess people like stories, that’s my basic conclusion. They just want everything in our lives to be like Twilight. The truth is… that I wish I had a few more hours of sleep today so I could think of a better answer.” On dealing with Twihards : “I kind of made the transition in my head of not being freaked out by it… when it happens so often to you, you kind of actually look at people’s faces and see that they’re enjoying themselves, and it makes everything so much easier to accept. Everything becomes a lot easier.” Pattinson also appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno this week. He had a couple of hilarious interactions with Emma Roberts, which you can watch now in our Robert video section . Enjoy!

Robert Pattinson Brings Mom And Dad To ‘Tonight Show’

‘Eclipse’ star says his parents are OK with him doing nude scenes because ‘they’ve seen it all before.’ By Jocelyn Vena Robert Pattinson on the “Tonight Show” Tuesday Photo: NBC Robert Pattinson isn’t the only member of his family who’s had to get used to his fame. When the “Eclipse” star stopped by “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” on Tuesday night, he brought along his mom and dad and talked about how they’re adjusting to his overwhelming success. “I think they’re handling it alright. I think they used to [believe the tabloid stories] — well, maybe not the alien child — but I don’t think so anymore,” he explained while his parents sat in the audience. “It depends on the source. Some sources are more reliable than others. If it’s in some of them [that my mom has read for years, to her] it’s definitely true [even if it’s not]. [She’s like,] ‘I’ve bought that magazine for years. I have a subscription!’ ” Meanwhile, his dad likes to send Rob e-mails with advice on how to handle fame. “I hope this doesn’t embarrass my dad. He loves sending me e-mails, which I love getting,” he said. “He claims he doesn’t love watching films. His favorite film is ‘Jaws.’ With ‘Twilight’ he was like, I think it’s a mixture between ‘Jaws’ and ‘Superman.’ ” Pattinson then read aloud an e-mail from his dad about romantic gestures like kissing a lady’s hand. Pattinson even dished on their reaction to the idea of seeing their son bare all on the big screen, which he does for the upcoming “Bel Ami.” He joked, “I don’t know, I guess they were a little bit shocked. [But] I think they were OK with it. They’ve seen it all before.” They may be comfortable with it, but Pattinson is still trying to come to terms with onscreen nudity . “I think the initial moment when you’re walking to set [is nerve-racking]. They give you a little robe and the moment you have to take it off you want to throw up,” he revealed.
