(Senior) Citizens For Leno

On the morning of Conan O’B rien’s first Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television stop, NBC faces some good and some bad Tonight Show news. The good being that the audience has increased more than 50 percent from Coco’s average. The bad being that the median age of the audience has also climbed more than 10 years to 56 years old, posing a potential risk to advertisers. Maybe NBC should just rip a page out of the playbook of the late night show with the youngest demo — Lopez Tonight , which boasts a median age of 33 — with some Chola makeovers . Si? [ NYT ]

The Other Guys Trailer: Cop Out, But with Jokes

Stop me if this seems familiar: There’s a new cop comedy coming out that pairs a loose-cannon SNL veteran with a growling, resentful partner in a semi-sendup of the 80’s buddy comedy genre. Here’s the difference, though, between Cop Out and Adam McKay’s new Will Ferrell/Mark Wahlberg starrer The Other Guys : I actually laughed at the Other Guys trailer.

What’s On: Jay Leno’s Garage of Shame

Until tonight, there’s never been a reason to watch the Do It Yourself network, a cable channel specializing in shows about plumbing, boating, woodworking and Man Caves . That all changes when Garage Mahal infiltrates Jay Leno’s shame chamber : a six-car garage piled high with late night posters, car memorabilia and denim clothing. Fortunately for the comedian, the crew is able to rehabilitate his “crappy garage syndrome” by pimping out his inner layer.

Slash Is With Coco

While performing on The Tonight Show last night, Slash wore the now iconic ” I'm with Coco ” badge in unabashed defiance. Not performing at all would have maybe been a more powerful message, but I suppose this works. The Best Links: Via The Daily What From TMZ View

EXCLUSIVE: Does Max Weinberg Want to Be Jay Leno’s New Bandleader?

Justin Bieber Discusses Career Backup Plan On ‘Tonight Show’

‘I always wanted to be a car mechanic,’ Bieber told Jay Leno. By Eric Ditzian Justin Bieber appears on “The Tonight Show” Photo: NBC Sure, things are going well for these days. He’s got the #1 album in the country, 1.7 million Twitter followers and counting, and he pulled off Thursday’s best April Fools’ prank when he seized control of Funny or Die, renaming it Bieber or Die . But if this whole teen sensation shebang doesn’t work out, Bieber has a backup plan that involves the career he had a hankering for before music swept him up. “I always wanted to be a car mechanic,” the 16-year-old told Jay Leno on Thursday’s edition of “The Tonight Show.” And now Biebs can actually drive a car, having hit the legal driving age last month. “I got a Range Rover,” he said. “It’s my first car. I don’t want to get too flashy.” Before sitting down to chat with Leno, the singer busted into a rendition of his hit single “Baby,” the same tune he performed last week on the “Late Show with David Letterman.” Earlier in the evening, he appeared on “Chelsea Lately,” where he did not sing but instead confessed he’d like to date either host Chelsea Handler or Kim Kardashian . Yes, it’s been a busy couple of weeks for Bieber as he promotes his new album, My World 2.0, and gets set to launch an international tour in June. So how did this all happen for him? How did Bieber end up a pop star and not a mechanic? On “Tonight,” the singer told an amusing version of how he was discovered after posting videos of himself on YouTube. “I started posting videos online and I just started getting bigger and bigger,” he laughed. “I got found by this manager who introduced me to Justin Timberlake and Usher, who both wanted to sign me. So we ended up in that war. Actually what happened was we went to Vegas. It was Usher and Justin — they got in the ring. Justin lost. He got knocked out.” Related Artists Justin Bieber

Jay Leno Tells Joy Behar ‘Conan Got Screwed’

Backstage at ‘The Tonight Show,’ Behar interviewed the host about the late-night battle. By Kyle Anderson Jay Leno and Joy Behar backstage at “The Tonight Show” Photo: CNN It has been a month since Jay Leno returned to his seat behind the desk of “The Tonight Show,” following a prolonged three-way battle between himself, former “Tonight Show” host Conan O’Brien and NBC. Since O’Brien closed up shop, he has started one of the best Twitter feeds on the Internet and is about to embark on a national tour (cleverly dubbed the Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour ). Meanwhile, Leno surged ahead of longtime rival David Letterman in the ratings, and he remains willing to speak out about the fiasco that unfolded at the beginning of the year. “The View” host Joy Behar was a guest on “The Tonight Show” on Tuesday, and in a behind-the-scenes video blog she filed for CNN , Leno spoke frankly about what happened at NBC. “Conan got screwed,” he said. “I got screwed. I mean, this is TV. The reason show business pays a lot of money is so when you get screwed, you’ve got something left over. If you’re a nurse or a cop and you get screwed out of your pension, you’re screwed out of your pension. On TV, at least you walk away with some money.” Leno told Behar that he feels bad about how O’Brien was treated and hopes that the spirit of competition between them will continue. “Conan was treated terribly, and I was treated terribly. I think Conan will come back and he’ll be strong, and we’ll all compete against one another. It should be me against Letterman against Conan against [Jimmy] Kimmel, and then we’ll see who wins.” Behar then called Kimmel “a bit of a turncoat,” referring to the incident in January when he went on “The Jay Leno Show” and slammed the host . But Leno is letting that water flow under the bridge. “What are you gonna go? Welcome to showbiz,” he said. “All comics are friends. When you go on stage, your job is to blow the other guy off the stage. I get it! That’s the way it works. You don’t impede someone else’s opportunity, but when you go out there, that’s what you do.” Are you watching “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno as host? Let us know in the comments!

Miley Cyrus ‘Sold’ On Liam Hemsworth After First Date

Cyrus tells Jay Leno about meeting ‘Last Song’ co-star and real-life boyfriend at Starbucks. By Jocelyn Vena Miley Cyrus on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” Photo: NBC Miley Cyrus had no doubt that she and Liam Hemsworth, her “Last Song” co-star and real-life boyfriend, would have chemistry after she met him for the first time. As soon as he arrived at Starbucks for their first “co-star” date, she knew that he was the right guy for her and for the part. “He’s cute. He plays my boyfriend in the movie, which is very convenient,” she joked when she stopped by “The Tonight Show” to chat with Jay Leno on Thursday. “I met him two weeks before filming. We went on a Starbucks date. That’s what you do when you meet your co-star that you have to be kissing for months and months and months, and I was sold.” That encounter made kissing him on the very first day of filming very easy. “[Our first kiss] was on the first day of filming in the movie,” she said. “We have this scene where we frolic in the water. So I frolic very well apparently, and after that I got to keep him.” Cyrus and Hemsworth have only been dating for about ten months , but she says that they’ve already checked out each other’s parents to see how well they will age in the future. “He looked good and he’s got a full head of hair,” she said about her beau’s dad. And as for her mom, Tish, Cyrus joked, “My mom’s hot, so …. No, I’m very aware [she’s hot]. I think that was the only reason why I had any guy friends.” Check out everything we’ve got on href=”http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/423507/moviemain.jhtml”> “The Last Song.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Conan O’Brien And Fox Resume Talk-Show Talks

Conan reportedly had to turn down ‘Idol Gives Back’ invite due to NBC settlement. By Jocelyn Vena Conan O’Brien Photo: Michael Kovac/ Getty Images Conan O’Brien and Fox have reportedly resumed talks to bring the former “Tonight Show” host to the network for a new late-night show. According to The Hollywood Reporter, there had been a two-week stall in negotiations, but talks seem to be back on. The paper also reports that O’Brien was approached by 19 Entertainment to appear on Fox’s “Idol Gives Back” special on April 21. Sources close to the situation said that the offer to appear on the special has gone out to several celebrities and is not related to his potential talk show. But according to the report, NBC has said the “Idol” special would not be allowed under O’Brien’s settlement with the network, which placed a moratorium on him appearing on TV until May 1. In the meantime, O’Brien is taking his act on the road this spring, on his 30-date “Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television” tour, which kicks off on April 12 in Eugene, Oregon. While Jay Leno has settled back in as the host of NBC’s “Tonight Show,” O’Brien is said to be weighing a Fox talk-show option against possibilities on cable or in syndication. But if Fox and O’Brien should reach an agreement, his tour schedule would allow him to appear at the Fox upfront in New York City on May 17 to present the show to potential advertisers.
