Halle Berry Wins First Round of Custody Battle

Halle Berry 1, Gabriel Aubry 0. So reads the custody scoreboard between this former couple, after a judge ruled in the actress’ favor today and said she could take daughter Nahla to New York for a movie shoot. Sources confirm to TMZ that these two started to fight over their child when Aubry attempted to block Berry from taking the two-year with her across the country to film New Year’s Eve . With the Oscar winner in attendance, a Los Angeles judge gave her the green light bring Nahla along for the duration of her time on set. “We are pleased the judge took the time to deal with this very imminent and important issue,” Berry’s attorney, Neal Hersh, said. “The judge read a great deal of paperwork and gave us time to argue.” Man. All this over the sequel to Valentine’s Day ?!? Perhaps if Berry and Aubry watched that atrocious romantic comedy, the entire hullabaloo could have been avoided.

Wow! OK, I had no idea my recent article on The Daily Beast ( link here ) would have created such a media blitz. Not sure of it’s just been a slow news week or something else, but I just thought some people would find my experiences interesting. I was not prepared for the enormous amount of interest and response to this article. It’s literally been like being back in the campaign with the amount of traffic we’ve received. Anthony Hopkins may be a knighted, Oscar-winning movie star with over 50 years of acting experience, but in conversation, he’s disarmingly down-to-earth. When he called up Movieline last week to chat about his new film, James Ivory’s The City of Your Final Destination , there were no publicist go-betweens or assistants rolling the call — just a ring from an unknown number, and that familiar voice warmly saying, “This is Tony Hopkins.” You get the feeling that in his later life, Hopkins has no patience for Hollywood artifice, and it’s a mien that makes him well suited to play Destination’s Adam Gund, who’s convinced that his ex-pat life in Uruguay is so casual and relaxed that his younger lover (Hiroyuki Sanada) will surely leave him at some point for something more exciting. As Hopkins prepared to wrap his role on Marvel’s megabudgeted Thor , he took the time to discuss his work on Ivory’s film while extinguishing one rumor (that there’s been friction between him and his Thor costar Chris Hemsworth) and fanning the flames of another (that his next film with Woody Allen is headed for a Cannes berth).
