He recently visited Toronto radio station “Flow 93.5″ to preview some of the tracks from the album where he “disrespected” his alleged ex-girlfriend Kandi Henry. Actress’ directorial debut, ‘In the Land of Blood and Honey,’ is a love story set during the Bosnian war. By Kevin P. Sullivan Zana Marjanovic in “In the Land of Blood and Honey” Photo: GK Films We all know Angelina Jolie , Academy Award-winning actress, sex symbol, mother and philanthropist, but today for the first time, the new for “In the Land of Blood and Honey” introduces all of us to Angelina Jolie, writer and director. There’s been talk about the project, a love story set during the Bosnian war in the early ’90s, for a while now, but there was little actually known besides a rough description of the plot. Brad Pitt even refused to give his review of the film when he spoke with MTV News while promoting “Moneyball.” The movie remained more or less a mystery with Jolie’s name as the only recognizable feature. That is, until the trailer hit the Web on Friday (October 21). In it, we get a look at a sweeping romance buried deep within the horrors of the Bosnian war and filled with suspicion and betrayal. The film stars Zana Marjanovic and Goran Kostic as two lovers caught in the middle of the conflict. The scale is surprisingly big, attempting to portray a full-out war, and features lots of gunfire and several large explosions. The trailer also makes clear the emotional weight tied to both the romance and its wartime backdrop. Jolie pulled the cast from the area, choosing unknowns rather than A-listers with Eastern European accents. Two versions of the film exist, one in English, the other in the native Serbo-Croatian. The film opens December 23 and, from the looks of the trailer and its release date, “In the Land of Blood and Honey” could spell another trip to the Academy Awards for the first-time director. Angelina Jolie’s ‘Blood And Honey’ Trailer Debuts
It is unclear if the track will appear on Drizzy’s upcoming Take Care. By Rob Markman Lil Wayne and Drake Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images Drake ‘s Take Care is finally complete. After a short delay that moved his original release date from October 24 to November 15, Drizzy handed the final cut into the label Wednesday and is now gearing up to promote his sophomore album. Last week, Drake dropped “Make Me Proud,” his new single featuring Nicki Minaj, and on Thursday night, another possible Take Care track hit the Internet. Though it wasn’t posted on his October’s Very Own blog like previous album singles “Headlines” and “Marvins Room,” the brand-new “The Real Her,” featuring Lil Wayne , made waves online . As of now, it is unclear whether the slow and sultry track, on which Drake sings throughout, will appear on Take Care. It begins with a start-and-stop piano intro, then about eight bars in, Drizzy starts to sing, “People around you should really have nothing to say/ Me I’m just proud of the fact that you’ve done it your way.” The song’s bridge connects “The Real Her” to Drake’s classic “Houstatlantavegas” from his 2009 So Far Gone mixtape. He softly croons, “Houston girls love the way it goes down, Atlanta girls love the way it goes down, Vegas girls love the way it goes down,” drawing a distinct parallel to the song that Drake said inspired the story line on Take Care. “It was a world that was very much real to me, but I created it in my mind. It was a world that, being a kid from Toronto, I used to look at from the outside and I used to be like, ‘Man that looks crazy,’ ” he told MTV News of the fictional city Houstatlantavegas. “All those strip clubs and all those nightclubs and the drinks and the girls and the fame.” In his quest to find something real in a superficial world of fast love and even faster heartbreak, Drake invites Lil Wayne to rap about his experiences with the fairer sex. ” ‘Cause to her I’m just a rapper and soon she’ll have met another/ And if tonight was just an accident, tomorrow we’ll recover,” Weezy spits in almost a spoken-word flow. The five-minute-plus song ends with no resolve, instead closing out with the hook, on which Drake charges, “You must’ve done this before, this can’t be your first time.” And the hunt for Ms. Right goes on. He’s collaborated with a string of stars like Mariah Carey , Busta Rhymes and Usher for the November 1 LP. But it’s the Biebs’ pairing with Boyz II Men that’s sure to expand the teen star’s fanbase. We spoke to BIIM’s Nate Morris via Skype during our special “MTV First: Justin Bieber” this week, and he shared his thoughts on the young singer as well as their holiday collabo “Falalalala.” “We respect him, man,” the R&B crooner told MTV News’ James Montgomery. “I watch what he does, I watch what the people around him do, and they’re guiding him in the right directions. You don’t hear anything bad about this guy. He has his head on straight.” JB’s team includes his mother, Pattie, who Morris said clearly has Bieber’s best interests at heart. “His mom has got his focus in the right direction and as long as she does that, he’ll be just fine,” he added. So will Boyz II Men head to the studio again with the pop superstar? Morris was optimistic, saying, “Oh, without a doubt. We just have to figure out the right circumstance. This was perfect for us because, you know, we wanted to try to make sure that the first song we did together was something that people could accept the two artists doing together. … If there’s a soundtrack or whatever that comes along that we can create something special, that’ll be hot.” BIIM’s team-up with JB is just one of many treats the group has planned for their comeback. So even when working with producers like Swizz Beatz and Timbaland, for example, the veteran hitmakers would have to give Drake the creative freedom to rework a track with his hometown guy. “The majority of producers, not only would I record it with 40, but I might take the beat apart with 40 and add elements that weren’t there before that just because I need a consistent thread,” Drake told MTV News of his Take Care recording process. Drake looks to add to Take Care what he felt Thank Me Later lacked: continuity. ” Thank Me Later was just song, song, song, song, song, whereas So Far Gone was a consistent thread,” the Young Money MC said of his debut album in relation to his breakout mixtape. “It was a story to me. And Thank Me Later, I sort of didn’t have enough time mentally to piece together a story. It’s very tedious.” Call it a case of being his own worst critic, as last year’s Thank Me Later was met with favorable reviews and was commercially successful as well. Still, Drake aimed to tweak his creative process with his next album, due November 15. “With that being said, I also need sonic consistency, so I need that presence in a Timbaland beat or someone’s beat,” he said. “There’s times when I really can’t even use someone else’s production because as much as I know that joint can be crazy, I want a consistent sound.” 40, who has amassed quite an impressive discography himself (DJ Khaled’s “I’m On One,” Lil Wayne’s “I’m Single” and Alicia Keys’ “Un-Thinkable”) provides Drake with the sonic continuity that he seeks, whether he is producing a record, engineering the session or mixing down the final product. This is a formula that has worked most recently on Drizzy’s latest Take Care single, “Make Me Proud,” with Nicki Minaj. While on the set of Birdman’s “Y.U. Mad” video, the Female Weezy told MTV News that she originally wrote Ross’ “You the Boss” for Young Money CEO Lil Wayne. “You know what’s interesting about that song,” Minaj said while in character as her alter ego, the Female Weezy, “Nicki originally did that song for Wayne two and a half years ago.” The slow-rolling track, which is the first single off of Ross’ upcoming God Forgives, I Don’t, finds Minaj on the hook toasting the larger-than-life Rozay. “I’ll do anything you say, anything, ’cause you the boss,” Nicki sings softly. Wayne never ended up using the track, but it seemed all too perfect for Ricky. “It was just lingering, and then she gave it to Rick Ross,” Lady Wayne said. “I think it’s hot.” On October 14, Ross gave the rap world quite a scare after he suffered two separate medical emergencies on his way to a Memphis, Tennessee, concert.
