Emily Maynard: Miserable, "Dying" in Jef Holm Relationship, Sources Claim

Emily Maynard said her breakup with Jef Holm was “difficult and heartbreaking” in a statement this week. Sources close to The Bachelorette star say it was anything but. “Emily just decided she’d had enough,” a source said, adding that she “was extremely miserable, and at her breaking point” toward the end of the relationship. “She was like ‘I’m dying here, I’m dying here’ … just over it. Enough was enough.” While Bachelorette relationships rarely work out, fans had high hopes for these two, given the apparent depth of their connection. So what went wrong, and so fast? Emily had obvious chemistry with her other two finalists – including current Bachelor -in-waiting Sean Lowe – but opted for Jef with the bigger picture in mind. Yet, a source close to Jef, who Emily Maynard chose over Lowe and Arie Luyendyk Jr. , said his desire to be a father figure to her daughter Ricki deflated over time. “He has no real connection to Ricki … he doesn’t feel close to her,” the source said, adding Jef thought Emily was an absentee parent, often calling her a “bad mom.” In addition, Emily receiving filthy texts from NFL backup Matt Leinart further eroded their love, as did her behavior at an August 4 wedding for a Bachelor staff member. “She was being very flirty,” a guest said, and Jef was “brooding.” An insider said Emily Maynard ‘s “goody-goody Southern Belle” demeanor is just for the cameras: “She flirts with other guys to help her ego. She gets off on it.” Emily, meanwhile, felt Jef wasn’t mature enough to handle a relationship. Whatever their reasons, Emily and Jef split up earlier this month, then gradually laid the foundation for the public announcement of the breakup and confirmed it Tuesday.

Arlen Specter Dies; Former U.S. Senator was 82

Arlen Specter, a former U.S. Senator who made headlines toward the end of his career by switching from the Republican Party to the Democratic side, passed away yesterday after a battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He was 82. The long-time Pennsylvania politician passed away at his home in Philadelphia, family members confirm. He was elected to the Senate in 1980 and served longer than anyone in state history. “Arlen Specter was always a fighter,” President Barack Obama said in a statement. “From his days stamping out corruption as a prosecutor in Philadelphia to his three decades of service in the Senate, Arlen was fiercely independent — never putting party or ideology ahead of the people he was chosen to serve. He brought that same toughness and determination to his personal struggles, using his own story to inspire others.” Specter crossed party lines in 2009 when he voted for the President’s stimulus plan and subsequently lost in the Democratic primary to then-U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak a year later. He is survived by wife Joan, sons Shanin and Steve, and four granddaughters.

Tanning Mom: No Longer Tanning!

Tanning Mom is now just Mom. Patricia Krentcil says those child endangerment charges she faces for dragging her daughter into a booth (allegedly) will never stick, but regardless, she’s no longer tanning. Yep, Tanning Mom is pale . Check out her recent sit-down on Anderson: Tanning Mom on Anderson Krentcil was arrested earlier this year, but believes the case against her will probably be dismissed because there’s no evidence and she never did what she’s accused of. The 44-year-old also admits she had a nervous breakdown following the media backlash, but now says she’s doing fine. That’s good … you don’t want her to start stress-tanning.

Katie Couric Admits: I Was Bulimic

Katie Couric makes a major, stunning admission on her talk show today: The former CBS Evening News anchor struggled with an eating disorder as a teenager. In an taped interview that will air across the country this afternoon, Couric sits down with Demi Lovato – whose troubled past is well-documented – and admits that she can relate to all Lovato has gone through. “I wrestled with bulimia all through college and for two years after that,” Couric tells her audience. “And I know this rigidity, this feeling that if you eat one thing that’s wrong, you’re full of self-loathing and then you punish yourself, whether it’s one cookie or a stick of gum that isn’t sugarless, that I would sometimes beat myself up for that.” Lovato, of course, spent weeks in rehab toward the end of 2010, later admitting to an eating disorder, along with other body and self-confidence images. During the segment, she says her problems began all the way back when she was three years old. “I remember being three years old in a diaper and rubbing my hand over my stomach,” Lovato says. “And I remember thinking in my head, ‘I wonder if one day this will ever be flat?’” Check your local listings to see when Katie airs in your area and tune in later today to listen to a lot more from these two strong women.

Jay-Z Calls Watch The Throne Tour The ‘Best Party’

‘The most important thing is that the people that are coming to the concert are leaving there thrilled,’ Hov tells MTV News. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Jim Cantiello Kanye West and Jay-Z Photo: Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images The fans aren’t the only ones having a ball during Jay-Z and Kanye West ‘s Watch the Throne Tour. A hoarse Jay walked the red carpet of the GQ Men of the Year party in Hollywood on Thursday, and he could hardly contain his excitement. “We’re having a great time,” Hov told MTV News’ Jim Cantiello. “The most important thing is that the people that are coming to the concert are leaving there thrilled and we’re having an amazing time. As you see, I don’t have a voice,” he laughed. The tour, which kicked off last month in Atlanta , has been running for less than a month but has been met with rave reviews on each outing. Noted for its dual elevated stages and artsy video montages, Hov and ‘Ye’s grandiose WTT run has been one worthy of the royal rap duo. Aside from their Throne cuts, Jay and Kanye have pulled from their respective solo catalogs, performing early hits like “Where I’m From” and “Through the Wire,” as well as new favorites like “Empire State of Mind” and “Runaway.” The highlight, however, is the duo’s current single “N—as in Paris.” Toward the end of the opening show in Atlanta, the two MCs performed the song twice, the next night, three times. At recent New York and Miami concerts, the track has been performed as many as four times in a single night. The Throne are slated to hit Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun on Friday night (November 18) and Atlantic City on Saturday. “It’s like the best party you’ve ever been to every night,” Jay said. “It’s star-studded and it’s music and it’s just unbelievable.” Related Artists Jay-Z Kanye West

Taio Cruz Premieres Explosive New ‘Dynamite’ Video — Watch It Here!

The British dance/pop sensation lights up a car repair shop staffed by leather-clad lady mechanics in latest clip. By Kara Warner Taio Cruz in his “Dynamite” video Photo: Matt Elias/ MTV News Taio Cruz was not exaggerating when he told MTV News the video for his hit single “Dynamite” would “represent” with massive fireworks. The British pop star turns the heat up — way up. Like the vid for his chart-topping “Break Your Heart,” Cruz’s second clip, which premiered Wednesday (July 21) on MTV.com, gives plenty of screen time to beautiful ladies, who look hot (both literally and figuratively). The opening scene shows them welding in a dusty mechanic shop, repairing wrecked cars. Suddenly, Cruz rides in on a sparkling white BMW superbike, rescuing the women from their work. “I’ve done race cars and speedboats. For this one, I wanted to do things on a bike,” Cruz told MTV News about his mode of transportation during filming. Cruz does spin his wheels, but only, of course, after he marches through the repair lot, flanked by leather-clad ladies, and starting what looks to be an impromptu dance party. The video has a definite sunny SoCal vibe, with its wardrobe of cutoff jean shorts and Ray-Bans. And in addition to the dozens of lady extras, Cruz said he was almost overwhelmed by the numerous props. “I’ve never done a video that has this many props in it,” Cruz said. “We’ve got the most amazing, wrecked cars. There’s even a massive truck that was used in the movie ‘Universal Soldier.’ ” Toward the end of the video, the sun sets and the British pop star gives an impromptu concert of sorts with the lady mechanics as his audience. Soon, an enormous, fiery explosion goes off behind the star, before subsiding into a shower of sparks, which, according to Cruz, is the perfect backdrop for the subtext of his song. “The song ‘Dynamite’ itself is about when you go to the club and when you go to a party and when you’re just going out … you got to feel like, ‘I’m just gonna explode.’ ” What do you think of Taio’s new video? Does it do the song justice? Tell us in the comments! Related Photos On The Set Of Taio Cruz’s ‘Dynamite’ Video

Eminem Says He Felt Like ‘Bugs Bunny’ In Rehab

‘I couldn’t concentrate on my problem,’ he says of getting attention from fellow patients. By Mawuse Ziegbe Eminem Photo: Getty Images Before Eminem even dropped Relapse last year, he announced plans release a follow-up called Relapse 2 — and then he totally changed his mind . Instead, come June 21, fans will be able to pick up Em’s new album Recovery (which was moved up a day after it leaked online ). Eminem recently explained the meaning behind the album title in an interview with The New York Times, revealing that it is a direct reference to managing his ongoing battle with prescription drugs. “Vicodin, Valium and Ambien and, toward the end, which caused my overdose, methadone,” Eminem told the Times when asked what he was recovering from. “I didn’t know it was methadone. I used to get pills wherever I could. I was just taking anything that anybody was giving to me.” The hip-hop superstar also opened up about his stint in rehab. “The first time I went, it was in Brighton, Michigan,” he said “The second time, I didn’t go to rehab; I just went to a regular hospital. I detoxed in the hospital, and then I came home.” Coping with addiction is a demanding process, but due to his celebrity, Em had to deal with a unique set of challenges. The always candid MC said that he later chose to detox in a hospital because his outsize stardom affected the way his fellow addicts in rehab interacted with Em. “I couldn’t go back to rehab. I felt like I was Bugs Bunny in rehab,” Eminem said. “When Bugs Bunny walks into rehab, people are going to turn and look. People at rehab were stealing my hats and pens and notebooks and asking for autographs. I couldn’t concentrate on my problem.” Did you prefer the Relapse 2 album title, or are you happy Em opted for Recovery instead? Let us know in the comments. M.I.A. ‘Born Free’ Video Kid Says Clip ‘Shows Violence To End Violence’

Ian Hamrick adds, ‘M.I.A. was a sweetheart.’ By James Montgomery Ian Hamrick in M.I.A.’s video for “Born Free” Photo: Interscope Toward the end of M.I.A.’s incendiary “Born Free” video , there’s a horrifying slow-motion scene in which 12-year-old Ian Hamrick — one of the redheaded “minorities” rounded up by armed police officers — is shot in the head, then collapses to the ground as blood spurts from the wound. Not surprisingly, Hamrick’s parents weren’t too excited when he was first cast in the video (his dad is a retired cop), but he persisted and eventually they allowed him to take part. And for the young actor, it was actually an opportunity to make a powerful statement. Because, as he revealed to TMZ he’s pretty deep for a 12 year old. “I think she was trying to show violence to end violence,” Hamrick told the site Thursday. “The video is definitely not for kids — I haven’t even seen the full video myself — but for all the adults and people in different countries who are doing that in real life … doing the genocides to whatever: Italians, Africans, wherever it’s from, it’s still genocide. So it’s showing violence to end violence.” Hamrick also told TMZ that he had met with the production team behind “Born Free” before signing on for the video, and was well aware of the grisly storyline. He also wants it to be known that “M.I.A. was a sweetheart.” In the meantime, debate continues to rage over the content of the video, which, while not entirely “banned” from YouTube has been carefully hidden by YouTube’s staff after enough viewers flagged the clip for objectionable content. According to a report on Wired.com which cites a spokesperson for the site as saying that, while YouTube didn’t pull the video, it did place it behind an age-restriction click through, rendering it impossible to find unless you already know the URL. What do you think of M.I.A.’s “Born Free” video? Be warned: it’s extremely violent. Related Artists M.I.A.
