Rihanna Says Chris Brown Is The Hottest R&B Singer Out

See original here:

In a recent interview with Ryan Seacrest, Rihanna explained why she chose to record the “Birthday Cake (remix)” with ex Chris Brown, who assaulted her in 2009. Rihanna recalls beginning the collaboration process saying: “The first song that came about was ‘Birthday Cake.’ I mean we ended up recording them at the same time and executing them together, but I reached out to him about doing ‘Birthday Cake’ because that’s the only person that really–it made sense to do the record. Just as a musician despite everything else that was going to be the person. You know I thought about rappers, and I’ve done that so many times, and the hottest R&B artist out right now is Chris Brown. So I wanted him on the track, and then in turn he was like ‘Why don’t you do the remix to my track?’ and it was a trade off. We did two records. One for my fans. One for his fans, and that way our fans can come together. There shouldn’t be a divide. You know? It’s music, and it’s innocent.”

Justin Bieber’s ‘Boyfriend’ Track Is ‘Super Hip-Hop,’ Producer Says

‘Our whole goal was to make something that was hater-proof,’ Mike Posner says of the upcoming single. By James Dinh Justin Bieber Photo: Ethan Miller/ Getty Images The anticipation for Justin Bieber’s brand-new single, “Boyfriend,” which invades radio airwaves March 26, is building. Not only is the track earning early raves from radio jocks, but also the song’s producer, Mike Posner . During an interview last week with radio DJ Bootleg Kev , the R&B supertalent dished about his studio session with the Biebster for “Boyfriend,” the lead single off the pop star’s highly anticipated album, Believe. “I have Bieber’s new single,” Posner said. “I wrote and produced that with him. And wait ’til you hear the beat; you’re going to flip. You’re going to want to play this song. Yes, it’s super hip-hop.” It was only a matter of time until the young Biebs also took his spitting skills to the forefront as Posner admits the 18-year-old superstar raps “a little eight bars” and offers some “crazy” singing afterward on the track. “That was our whole goal, was to make something that was hater-proof,” he continued. Asked about the star’s work ethic, Posner revealed his hesitation, saying, “He’s super talented. At first I didn’t know what to expect because he’s super young, but dude can write.” Baltimore radio host Mick Lee recently spoke about the track, noting the song’s major transition from Bieber’s previous material. “All I’m saying … is wow … so much different than his previous music,” he gushed on the station’s website. “The best way to describe it is a mix of Justin Timberlake ‘Sexy Back’ … ‘NSYNC ‘Girlfriend’ — And get this … he raps … best comparison is it sounds like ‘Wait’ by the Ying Yang Twins.” Are you excited for Bieber’s track “Boyfriend”? Madonna Drops New Single ‘Girl Gone Wild’

Pop icon’s inner dance-floor vixen comes out on second MDNA single. By Jocelyn Vena Madonna’s “Girl Gone Wild” Photo: Interscope Madonna kicked the party off with “Give Me All Your Luvin’, ” and she’s keeping it going with her second MDNA single, “Girl Gone Wild.” The thumping song, released Monday (February 27), proves that this era of Madonna will certainly be focused on pumping out dance-floor anthems. ” Girl Gone Wild ” is all about the heat of letting loose and dancing, certainly themes that Madge fans will find familiar. Produced by Benny Benassi, the track, though fun and funky, is a bit darker than her first single, which seemed to pay homage to the ’80s version of the pop icon in its bright nature. “I got that burnin’ hot desire/ And no one can put out my fire/ It’s coming right down through the wire/ Here it comes/ When I hear them 808 drums/ It’s got me singing,” she proclaims on the catchy, sing-along chorus. “Hey, ey, ey, ey/ Like a girl gone wild/ A good girl gone wild/ I’m like, hey, ey, ey, ey/ Like a girl gone wild/ A good girl gone wild.” The song chugs along thanks to more dance-floor confessions from the singer, which include, “The room is spinning/ It must be the Tanqueray/ I’m about to go astray/ My inhibition’s gone away/ I feel like sinning/ You got me in the zone/ DJ play my favorite song/ Turn me on.” The video was shot earlier this month and was directed by fashion photographers Mert and Marcus, who also shot the colorful artwork for the album . It had been rumored that Britney Spears would be featured on the track, but that rumor was shot down by Madonna herself. MDNA will drop on March 26. It features production from collaborators like Martin Solveig and William Orbit, Demolition Crew, Alessandro “Alle” Benassi, Hardy “Indiigo” Muanza and Michael Malih. On April 6, the cast from American Pie will reunite for their 10th high school reunion in East Great Falls, Michigan, and so much has changed. Or not at all. The new American Reunion trailer below shows Seann William Scott in all his glory as the sex-crazed, pot-stirring Stifler, while Jason Biggs’ Jim is married with a kid. When a girl he used to babysit invites Jim to her 18th birthday party, Stifler wants him to hit it, to which Jim says, “I’m not going to cheat on my wife. I’m a father.” Stifler’s eloquent response: “Be her daddy.” Classy as always! Katy Perry Exploring ‘Deep’ Themes On New Music

Songwriter Bonnie McKee opens up to MTV News about the “real” songs she’s writing with Perry. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias Katy Perry Photo: Jeff Bottari/ Getty Images Katy Perry ‘s new single, “Part of Me,” certainly shows a not-often-explored side of the pop singer. The scathing break-up track is all about the end of a great love and the empowerment one feels after watching that person walk away. It’s darker than “California Gurls,” that’s for sure. Considering the timing of the track’s release, it’s hard not to think that it’s about her former husband, Russell Brand . It’s the lead single off her March release, Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection, and it kicks off a new era of songwriting for the usually candy-coated pop star, her pal and frequent collaborator Bonnie McKee told MTV News last week, just days before she dropped the track. “I’ve been working with Katy Perry a lot more, so I’m excited for what we have coming out next,” she explained. The twosome already have a long history with one another having already cooked up hits like “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream” and “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” off 2010’s Teenage Dream. “I’m working with Katy and it’s great,” she continued. “I’m really excited and I think everyone is going to really relate to and love what she’s doing next. It’s kind of a departure from what she’s been doing in the past. We are a great team when we write together because we don’t let each other settle; every single line is a philosophical debate.” That means that while their past collaborations have focused on the sugary-sweet, this time they are looking deeper for their lyrical content. “She’s going through some major life changes, so it’s not all about bubble gum and fun; it’s real and it’s deep and she has a lot to say. So I think people are anxious to hear it,” she said, adding that while there are those people who are rooting for the star, there will also always be the haters. “You know what? The numbers don’t lie,” she said to those folks. “Katy Perry is a star for the people … she’s unstoppable and she’s proven that.” What do you think of “Part of Me”? Nicki Minaj Drops Fist-Pumping ‘Starships’ Single

‘There was so much love surrounding the making of the song,’ she says about Roman Reloaded track. By Jocelyn Vena Nicki Minaj Photo: Jason Merritt/Getty Images Nicki Minaj channels her inner pop princess for her just-released single “Starships.” The fist-pumping song dropped on Tuesday (February 14), and it’s club-ready and poised for crossover success. Thanks to its bouncy beat, Minaj’s sing-songy chorus and producer RedOne’s eye for Euro house-influenced pop music, Minaj may have a new “Super Bass.” It’s a blast of pop goodness in which Nicki raps and sings about partying and doing what feels good for you. The song is also full of signature Minaj sass and bravado. “Starships were meant to fly/ Hands up and touch the sky/ Can’t stop ’cause we’re so high/ Let’s do this one more time,” she declares on the feel-good chorus, before it repeats and evolves to a smashing, dance-floor-busting grind of beats, shouts and noises that are certain to get her Barbz on the floor. Minaj shines like a pop star the likes of Britney Spears, Katy Perry and Jennifer Lopez on the genre-busting track. But the song is also signature RedOne thanks to his keen ear for world music. That influence is felt on the song’s breakdowns, which recall smashes he’s made for J.Lo and Enrique Iglesias. “There was so much love surrounding the making of the song, because RedOne is just so sweet to work with,” Minaj told Ryan Seacrest . “He just sent me that one day and he said, ‘Hey, I got something for you!’ I was like ‘You got to be kidding me, right?’ I went to the studio and started writing … scratch that … I didn’t even write the first verse! That was just me mumbling and just saying the first thing that came to my head, and we recorded it, because I just felt like, let’s go to the beach … let’s go get away. It was just so good. It feels good!” “Starship” is the latest track to get a preview before Nicki drops Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded on April 1. On Sunday she gave fans an over-the-top taste of “Roman Holiday” when she performed it during the Grammy Awards . During the interview with Seacrest, Minaj shared that Reloaded will focus on the many sides of Nicki — and it’s clear “Starships” shows her pop side. “I’ve never had this much fun recording music in my life. My first album, I was very guarded,” she said. “I felt like I was making music to please everyone else. I had to be politically correct, but this album I am just creating music, and there’s such a big difference. Literally, in the studio we were cracking up laughing, having fun and enjoying ourselves. The music itself, you’re going to get every side that I’ve ever shown and then a little bit extra. I’ve tried to make it very, very balanced, because I don’t ever want to be boxed in, and that’s always what drives me. So I made a very diverse album.” Related Artists Nicki Minaj
