Ri Ri stays on her grind! Less than a year after releasing “Loud,” Rihanna is close to finishing her sixth studio album! Check out what our very own Verse Simmons (who is part of the production duo responsible for Rihanna’s track “Man Down”) had to say about her new project! Rihanna has already started work on her next album. The ‘Umbrella’ singer is already “closing up” recording on her sixth album according to Verse Simmonds, part of production duo The Jugganauts, who worked on her track ‘Man Down’, from her last alum ‘Loud’. He told MTV: “From what I understand, she is closing the album up now, and we did two records for her that she really, really loved and I’m really excited about them as well. They are records that we wrote and produced as the Jugganauts.” He added the track will have a different sound to ‘Man Down’, and that they are always trying to better themselves creatively. Verse said: “It’ll definitely not sound the same, because we always try, constantly – as producers, as artists – we try to always come with something different, a whole new sound.” It was rumoured earlier this year Rihanna was to work with Beyonce Knowles on a track, which could be included on her next album. A source said: “Rihanna has wanted to work with Beyonce for some time now and, after talking about a duet at this year’s Grammys, they have finally managed to set aside some time to record together.” SOURCE

Lady Gaga Finally Confirms ‘You And I’ As Her Next Single

Gaga performed the song twice on Thursday, on ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ and ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Photo: ABC Perhaps it wasn’t that big of a secret to begin with, but on Thursday night when Lady Gaga stopped by ” Jimmy Kimmel Live! ” the singer finally confirmed what everybody already presumed: “You and I” will be her next single from Born This Way. When asked what she planned to perform that night in addition to “The Edge of Glory,” Gaga replied, “I’m going to sing my brand-new single ‘You and I.’ ” She recently shot the video for the track in Nebraska. Gaga also performed those two tracks on “So You Think You Can Dance” on Thursday night, following her appearance on the show the day before as a guest judge. Before taking the “Kimmel” stage and pounding the keys on her piano for the track, she joked around with the host about her killer cooking skills, her five Emmy nods for her HBO special and, of course, her nomination for the Bowling Hall of Fame. “I am a good bowler pre-Budweiser,” she laughed. “And then once the beers start loading up, I become worse and worse, which is really great for whoever takes me out on the date, ’cause I’m a good, cheap date and a terrible bowler.” So, does Gaga ever don bowling shoes? “Absolutely not!” she said. “What if one of my fans walked into the bowling alley and saw me in flats? They’d have a heart attack.” When Kimmel asked if one day she planned on actually creating any Little Monsters of her own, the always forthright Gaga shared that she does plan on starting a family someday. “Do I want to have kids? Someday … long, long day from now,” she said. She joked about whether or not she’d love her kids even if they didn’t turn out to be gay, telling Kimmel, “No, I actually don’t even like you ’cause you’re not.” Gaga also just announced the planned release of a coffee-table book, called “Lady Gaga,” the photos for which are by fashion photographer Terry Richardson. The book is due out in November. Related Artists Lady Gaga

J. Cole Opens Up About Jay-Z Collaboration

‘I finally made a song that was perfect for Jay,’ J. Cole tells MTV News. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Ade Mangum J. Cole Photo: MTV News There are sure to be a few features on J. Cole ‘s debut, Cole World: The Sideline Story , but none more anticipated than the one between him and his Roc Nation CEO, Jay-Z . Cole has been tight-lipped about the details surrounding his album, which is slated to drop September 27, but he did open up to MTV News about his and Jay’s collaboration, which is still in the works. Jay snagged the young spitter for a verse on his “A Star Is Born” track off of 2009’s The Blueprint 3, and now Cole is waiting for Jigga to return the favor. He won’t reveal the song’s title just yet, and Jay hasn’t even finished his verse, but after he made the beat for the song at his home, Cole knew he had something worthy of Hov’s attention. “I actually did the song thinking I would just throw it out when I made it,” the Fayetteville, North Carolina, MC said of the track, which he originally intended to offer to his fans as a free download. “I made it in my crib and I was like, ‘Man I’m gonna throw something out today, or tomorrow whatever, let me do a song.’ Then I started making it, and as soon as I made it, I was like, ‘Oh nah, nah.’ ” The instrumental came out so good that Cole scrapped his original plans and immediately began to pen his rhymes. “I had already wrote the verses and I realized, ‘Man, this is for Jay.’ I finally made a song that was perfect for Jay,” he said backstage at last week’s date on Rihanna’s Loud Tour. During his appearance on “RapFix Live” back in February, Cole explained to Sway the high standards that he holds for the track. “They been asking me this for a while because I said he was like one of the only rap features I wanted, but it’s about the song. It’s a lot of pressure on that song. I feel like that’s my hardest song to make, is the one I want Jay for. My standards are so high,” he said. In an effort to hold on to album details as long as he can, Cole wouldn’t say much more about the song, but did reveal that he left a message for his fans buried in the track’s hook. “When people hear the hook, it’s kind of like a message — I could be talking to a woman, to my girl, or to my fans or to friends,” he said. “But it’s really a subliminal message to my fans in that hook.” Related Artists Jay-Z J. Jay-Z, Kanye West Try Dubstep On Watch The Throne

Producer Verse Simmonds opens up to MTV News about WTT track ‘Who Gon Stop Me.’ By Rob Markman Kanye West and Jay-Z Photo: Getty Images Jay-Z and Kanye West ‘s collaborative Watch the Throne LP is shaping up to be the year’s most anticipated release. So far, fans have heard the Southern-fried, Lex Luger-produced “H.A.M.” and the soul-drenched “Otis,” which premiered Wednesday night on New York radio. While the two records both feature hard-nosed lyrics from Hov and ‘Ye, their sounds couldn’t be more different. Well, the sonic versatility doesn’t stop there. Singer/songwriter Verse Simmonds revealed to MTV News that the multiplatinum rap tandem will also be experimenting with dubstep on the new album. After getting a call from Bu Thiam, Def Jam’s VP of A&R, to submit tracks for WTT, Simmonds and his production partner, Sham “Sak Pase” Joseph, immediately went to work. “What we did is, we locked in a week, we just went crazy on everything Jay and Kanye,” Simmonds told MTV News. “I remember telling Sham, I was like, ‘Yo, I think this dubstep stuff is going to be the next new flavor that everybody gotta be on. It gotta have a hip-hop feel to it still.’ ” The result is “Who Gon Stop Me,” a track that, according to the “Buy You a Round” singer, is influenced by the U.K. style of electronic dance music. Together, Verse and Sak Pase make up the Jugganauts, and for “Who Gon Stop Me,” Joseph made the beat and Simmonds wrote and referenced the chorus. “We started creating the track, and it just started to come crazy, so we came up with the concept,” Simmonds said before reciting a loose rendition of the song’s lyrics. “It was like, ‘Who gon stop me, huh? Black cards, Black cars, whole lot of money.’ ” To pen the hook on the track, Verse said he first imagined himself in Jigga and Yeezy’s shoes. “When I recorded it, everybody was like, ‘Yo, you sound just like Kanye, you sound just like Jay-Z,’ ” he remembered. “It’s just crazy, because I felt like, at that moment in time, I was them. I got into that mode of: ‘What would these guys say? How would they say it?’ I think they heard it the first time and loved it.” Hopefully, the fans will too. Beanie Sigel Cried At State Property Reunion Concert

‘I would cry for a minute, I was dancing, I was happy,’ Sigel says on ‘RapFix Live’ of last weekend’s show. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Beanie Sigel Photo: MTV News As far as rap crews go, Philadelphia’s State Property were emerging as one of hip-hop’s most promising collectives until they were torn apart by business tiffs and legal drama. Signed to Roc-A-Fella Records, State Property and group leader Beanie Sigel lost steam after label co-CEOs Jay-Z and Damon Dash parted ways and Beans went on to serve a 10-month stint in prison that ended in 2005 . But this past weekend, SP reunited onstage in Atlantic City, New Jersey, a show that Beanie said brought tears to his eyes. “The whole State Property was there, everybody: Chris, Neef, Oschino, Sparks, Freeway, Peedi Crack and me, all seven of us. That was love,” Sigel said during his visit to “RapFix Live” on Wednesday. “They all went out and I came out last. I was in the back. I didn’t know how to feel. I would cry for a minute, I was dancing, I was happy and then it was like, ‘My boys, man.’ ” Sigel told Sway that the SP reunion is now in full swing and, in addition to music, he’s working on a movie script for “State Property 3.” The first two “State Property” films were theatrical releases that became cult favorites and helped the group cement its brand in the mid-2000s. “I’m working on a script, ‘State Property 3,’ it’s about time,” Beans revealed before touching on the group’s musical plans. “When we got together, we had our meeting, our initial conversation about doing what we thought was necessary for us and for music, for everybody’s careers as State Property the group and solo careers.” As Sigel sees it, State Property would function as a collective, with each individual act pulling double duty as solo artists. To make his point, Beanie singled out Young Chris, who recently signed a deal with producer/songwriter Rico Love’s Division 1 label. “Everybody can do their own individual thing that they doing. Like Chris doing his thing with Division 1, he got a lot of good music that’s about to come through. “We make beautiful music together, all of us State Property,” Beans added. “We can stay out on our own and we can do us.” Are you looking forward to new music from State Property? Adele/ Alicia Keys Duet Would ‘Make History,’ Swizz Beatz Says

‘I just thought that, man, this would be a great moment for both of them,’ rapper/producer (and Keys’ husband) tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena Swizz Beatz Photo: MTV News Swizz Beatz seems intent on getting his superstar wife, Alicia Keys , and British pop queen bee Adele into the studio very, very soon. In fact, when MTV News caught up with the rapper/producer, he said it seemed like the twosome would be hooking up sooner than fans might think. “We’re looking good, we’re looking good, we’re looking good,” he told MTV News quite emphatically in his green room at the Sounds Like Paper Concert at the House of Vans in Brooklyn, New York. The rumor of a possible collaboration between the two divas was actually started by the Haute Living rapper himself last month, and he appeared to get an enthusiastic co-sign from his lady love . While Swizz is quite adamant about making something happen with these two ladies, he’s not quite sure what that something should sound like. Since both ladies are famous for soulful-leaning pop, it seems like a natural fit. “I just know that you know greatness when you see greatness, and teaming two greats up together, it makes history,” he explained. “And I don’t even have to produce the track; I just want it to happen. She can produce the track, somebody else can produce the track.” Why is Swizz so amped up to make this happen? “I just thought that, man, this would be a great moment for both of them, because they have amazing styles and they both respect each other,” he said. “They’re fans of each other. So let’s make this good for music.” Would you like to hear an Adele/Alicia duet? Let us know in the comments below! Related Artists Adele Alicia Keys Swizz Beatz

Swizz Beatz Clarifies Haute Living Rollout, Lil Wayne Track

‘ Haute Living is still coming, but as far as releasing all on one day, I’m not doing that no more,’ Swizz tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena Swizz Beatz Photo: MTV News Swizz Beatz initially was planning to go about releasing his latest musical venture Haute Living like any other artist would. He had a release date set and was growing the buzz around the album. Then he seemed to change his mind . Instead of releasing all of the songs at once, Swizz is going to release the tracks over an extended period of time. Why? Well, he explained it all to MTV News at the Sounds Like Paper Concert at the House of Vans in Brooklyn, where he was celebrating his Paper magazine cover. “Let me clarify: Haute Living is still coming, but as far as releasing all on one day, I’m not doing that no more,” he said. “I want to just drop singles from Haute Living instead of ‘I’m coming on September 13.’ I’m like, ‘You know what? Let me make every song an event, instead of just that one day being an event.’ ” Swizz, never a man to let boundaries define him, continued, “I want to change the whole mind-set of the way I do things as an album, but Haute Living is definitely coming. I’m just tired of doing things traditional. My whole concept of life is just to do things nontraditional, making new rules. Sky’s not the limit — it’s just a view.” Much like his reinvention of the album’s rollout, Swizz also sees the album’s music as a reinvention of how he sounds. “My vision came together for what was basically breaking all boundaries and graduating my brand and letting people know that I can do other things,” he explained. “And I used Haute Living as an outlet to team me [with all these other artists] and it was amazing.” Now that he’s clarified all the hubbub around Haute Living, Swizz also addressed Lil Wayne’s recent comments regarding their track “Dear Anne,” in which Wayne pointed out that he wasn’t happy with the track because he thought his verses were too “old,” according to XXL . “That problem is solved now,” Swizz teased. “So look out for something.” Related Artists Lil Wayne Swizz Beatz
