Britney Spears Says ‘Till The World Ends’ Has ‘Good Energy’

‘If it puts me in a good mood, it clicks for me,’ singer tells Ryan Seacrest of Ke$ha-penned track. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears Photo: Jeremy Cowart/ WireImage Britney Spears got her fans amped up for her forthcoming album, Femme Fatale, when she released its second single, “Till the World Ends,” on Thursday. The chugging, Ke$ha-penned club banger is all about getting your dance on. And when Spears stopped by Ryan Seacrest’s radio show on Friday (March 4), she admitted that the song just felt right for her as soon as she heard it. ” ‘Till the World Ends’ is fun! It’s fun. I like it. It’s good energy,” she said of the track, which was produced by Dr. Luke, Max Martin and Billboard. “I’m a vibe person, and I think I love good-mood songs, and if it puts me in a good mood, it clicks for me.” As for the album, which already spawned a chart-topping single, “Hold It Against Me,” she teased, “I think it’s my best work yet. I listened to it on the way over here. It’s definitely something you want to work out to. … And I’m a dancer, so it’s definitely something I can work with.” “Oh my God! Will.i.am is amazing,” Spears said of the producer, who teased the track “The Big Fat Bass” recently. “He’s so much fun and he’s funny and he’s a charm. His music is so much fun. When they told me I was going to be working with him, I couldn’t wait. If it gets you going, you get excited, and he has that type of energy.” In addition to talking about the album, Spears also shared plans for a summer tour. And she talked about how she’s keeping in shape these days as she amps up to promote the album, which drops March 29. “I have a trainer. [I go] on the treadmill for 30 minutes and we do a lot of cardio, running,” she explained. “He kicks my butt. You pay to hate your trainer!” It seems that the workout regiment has also had an effect on her beau, talent agent Jason Trawick, who, according to Seacrest, was “pudgy” before he hooked up with the pop star. “He wasn’t pudgy,” she laughed. “He wasn’t pudgy. He is definitely ripped. He just got on this health kick. I guess he’s on a health kick. He eats what he wants.” Related Videos MTV First: Britney Spears’ ‘Hold It Against Me’ Premiere Related Photos Britney Spears’ ‘Hold It Against Me’ Pop-Culture References Related Artists Britney Spears Ke$ha

J. Cole, Wale NBA All-Star Weekend Show Features Drake, Melanie Fiona

Drake and J. Cole sing ‘In the Morning,’ before Fiona, Cole and Wale perform ‘Beautiful Bliss.’ By Steven Roberts, with additional reporting by Janice Llamoca J. Cole Photo: MTV News NBA All-Star Weekend is officially under way in Los Angeles, and Wale and J. Cole helped to kick it off with a sold-out show at the House of Blues in West Hollywood on Friday night. The Roc Nation duo treated their fans, who had braved the uncharacteristically cold and damp Southern California weather, with an amazing performance as well as a surprise guest. Drake hit the stage during J. Cole’s set to perform their salacious smash hit “In the Morning.” The crowd erupted as soon as the track began to play, but it got even louder once Drake hit the stage to seduce nearly every young lady in attendance with his romantic style. “Baby, you wintertime cold/ The night is still young, drink that dinner wine slow/ I’m trying to make the goose bumps on your inner thigh show.” J. Cole and Drake released the video for the track this past week on Valentine’s Day. It features behind-the-scenes footage from their Paris stop on Drake’s Lights, Dreams and Nightmares European tour. When MTV News caught up with Cole before the show, he said that video was meant to be something really organic, even though it’s becoming something much bigger. “It was really a viral video. At the end of the day, it wasn’t supposed to be a Hype Williams production or nothing. I wanted it to be really organic, just to document the tour. Just to document that moment in my life, or our lives, touring Europe for the first time.” Cole said this was his first All-Star weekend, and he loved the energy it brought to the town. He has been in L.A. for two weeks now, since the Grammy Awards as well as working on his project with Kendrick Lamar . He said he hopes to play in the All-Star celebrity game next year to fulfill his hoop dreams. Another Canadian singer hopped on the stage as well. Fellow Roc Nation artist Melanie Fiona joined Cole and Wale onstage for their first-ever performance of Wale’s “Beautiful Bliss.” Wale opened his show with his usual vigor. During his set, which included tracks from his More About Nothing mixtape and Attention Deficit, the crowd roared once his collaboration with Waka Flocka and Roscoe Dash came on. But by that time, he had already cleared a space for himself to dance and shake his dreads as the crowd helped him rap. As far as he was concerned, it was business as usual, making sure the crowd had an amazing time. “We’re used to this now. We’ve done a lot of sold-out shows together. I just think the significance of this is it being All-Star weekend,” Wale said. “I think being a quote-unquote ‘real’ hip-hop show, that’s what makes it special.”

Fellow Prefix writer Erik Ziedses des Plantes fittingly described Smoke DZA’s “Ralph Lifshitz” as “pretty basic but … incredibly effective” when it leaked last December. So when I saw that the blunted rapper had released visuals for the track, I had a feeling he was going to stick with that same formula. Justin Bieber Tells Guys: ‘Take Your Girl’ To See ‘Never Say Never’

‘Even if you don’t like my music or anything, just go,’ pop star advises. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Sway Calloway Justin Bieber in “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never” Photo: Paramount Pictures There’s no denying that Justin Bieber has a mostly female fanbase, so there are probably swarms of teen girls cleaning off their purple 3-D glasses to check out “Never Say Never” this weekend. For those guys who think they have too much testosterone flowing through their veins to check out the film, the Biebs has a message for you. “If I could say anything [to guys who think the movie is only for girls], I would say, like, just give it a chance,” he told MTV News. “It’s just a good movie. It has a good story line.”

Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’: The New Gay Anthem?

‘Anything she says, I think, will always be the gay anthem,’ says comedian Gabe Liedman. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga Photo: Larry Busacca/ Getty Images With lyrics like “Don’t be a drag, just be a queen” and “No matter gay, straight or bi/ Lesbian, transgendered life/ I’m on the right track, baby/ I was born to survive,” it’s clear that Gaga is singing for those in the LGBT community who feel disenfranchised on her new track ” Born This Way .” Perhaps it was no mistake that Gaga debuted the club-friendly track on a Friday, the day many people head out on the town. So, as those in the LGBT community make their Friday night plans, MTV News found out what some prominent professionals in the community think about the track and got their answers to the question: Is this the new gay anthem? “Typically, gay anthems have been chosen by gay people, not for gay people. The explicitly pro-gay sentiment is something relatively new to major-label pop (especially major-label pop launching a much-anticipated album by arguably the most relevant pop star in the world right now),” Rich Juzwiak, author of the pop-culture FourFour blog, explained. “I have mixed feelings about the conflation of activism and marketing inherent in a piece of commerce like ‘Born This Way,’ but ultimately, I think Gaga’s heart is in the right place. It’s pretty bold of her, while at the same time being utterly beneficial to her career and exposure.” Logo/NewNowNext.com editor John Polly noted that the song has all the right elements to be adopted as the anthem for 2011. “Its big, it’s loud, it’s fun!” he said. “It sounds like someone mashed up a zillion mirrors in a drag queen’s closet and then shot it out of a sequin cannon … subtle! Subtle! “This one has more [gay anthem elements] than most,” he continued. “It calls out every color of the rainbow, like specifically, vocally. Everything’s in there. It’s got it all and it’s got a beat. It’s familiar, but it’s new. It’s Gaga. She’s got something in there for everyone, so hopefully people are into it … I think you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck, a lot of big gay noise that’s going on.” Gabe Liedman, comedian and pop-culture expert, described the track as “perfect” and admits that Gaga has it locked up, that is until she releases her next track off the May album of the same name. “I mean, she didn’t waste any time with poetry,” he teased. “She kind of got right to the point. It’s not subtle. There’s no misinterpreting it. That’s what she thinks: You’re born this way, born this gay! “I think this will be the gay anthem for as long as it takes before her next song comes out,” he joked. “And that will be the gay anthem and then anything that comes out after that. Anything she says, I think, will always be the gay anthem, until she dies?” Related Artists Lady Gaga
