Kanye West Tweets Status Of Justin Bieber Remix

‘Raekwon’s verse is crazy,’ he teases about the track. By Jocelyn Vena Kanye West Photo: John Shearer/ WireImage It didn’t take long for the Kanye West-Justin Bieber collaboration to come to fruition. Just days after tweeting about a possible joint project, West let fans know that he’s nearly finished remixing Bieber’s “Runaway Love.” Early on Thursday (August 19), West tweeted , “Finishing @JustinBieber Runaway Love remix too… don’t know when they gonna drop it but Raekwon’s verse is crazy!!!” Prior to jumping on the track, Wu-Tang rapper Raekwon confirmed that he was working toward getting the West-Bieber project off the ground. “It’s definitely gonna happen,” he told XXL magazine. “When you got these kinda talents merging together to do something exciting, I think it’s something that’s gonna make the fans check it out. I’m big fans of both of these guys. I think, at the end of the day, shorty is a sensation. And [for him] to acknowledge me it makes me feel good that the young generation is checkin’ me out like that. And at the same time it gives me a position to play a big brother in the game. He wants my assistance or whatever, he can get it. I respect him, I like his style.” Its’ been quite a week for Bieber, who re-tweeted Raekwon’s XXL confirmation. In addition to having West and Raekwon work their magic on his song, it was just announced that the VMA-nominated singer will also perform at the big show. He tweeted his excitement, saying, “Performing at this years VMA’s!!! Last year i went and no one knew who i was and this year gonna PERFORM!!! Wild!! DREAM BIG!” The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 12, at 9 p.m. ET. Dr. Dre’s ‘Turn Me On’ Leaks To The Web

Pulsating track is the second Dre leak this summer and could be featured on Detox. By Jayson Rodriguez Dr. Dre Photo: Denise Truscello/WireImage Yet another unfinished track from Dr. Dre has hit the Web. This time, it’s the pulsating “Turn Me On,” a possible number for the producer’s long-delayed Detox album. “Seven stars must be my aura/ I mastered levitation, I stay up in the clouds,” Dre raps on the track, which clocks in at barely two minutes. “Penthouse, hovering a hundred floors up/ I’m on some tantric yoga/ The ladies love the way I shine, I’m like Merlin when I’m erotic/ I make ya squirm no hands on ya body.” “Turn Me On” follows the West Coast producer’s Jay-Z collaboration, “Under Pressure,” which leaked online to mixed reactions earlier this summer. In June, just weeks after the Jay-Z single leaked, Dre spoke about the track on the red carpet of the ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Music Awards. The doctor, who has a reputation for being a perfectionist, wasn’t satisfied by any means. “The vocals are real rough, it’s not blended right … a hook is not even on the song,” he said, explaining that didn’t get a chance to finish the number before listeners got a sample. The song still needed a chorus and had to be mixed and mastered properly, he said. “It’s not done. The music isn’t done.” In the current issue of Vibe magazine, Dre opened up for the first time about Detox ‘s delays. He said the work time on the project hasn’t varied from his past efforts. It was his work signing and producing new talent, like 50 Cent, that has set his own project back. “Absolutely not,” Dre told the magazine when asked if he expected the album to take so long. “I thought it would take, at worst case, a couple of years. For example, actual work time on The Chronic was nine months, and actual work time on my last album, 2001, was about 10 months. The actual work time on this album is about half of that, where I’m seriously focusing on it. There is always something coming up.” What do you think about Dr. Dre’s “Turn Me On”? Nicki Minaj Told Jay Sean She Was ‘Going In’ On ‘2012’

Young Money rapper is uniquely ‘fun and playful’ on the track, British crooner tells MTV News. By Akshay Bhansali Nicki Minaj Photo: Taylor Hill/ Getty Images It will come as no surprise to fans of Jay Sean that his new single, “2012 (It Ain’t the End),” boasts bars by Young Money princess Nicki Minaj. After all, his U.S. debut single, “Down,” features Lil Wayne , which was followed by Lil Jon and Sean Paul jumping on “Do You Remember.” Still, the Hounslow hero (Jay Sean was born near the Wimbledon site in West London) was pleasantly surprised to get a phone call from Miss Minaj earlier this year. “It was actually a surprise for me,” Sean told MTV News last week. “Nicki Minaj heard [‘2012’], she called me and … she was like, ‘I love it! It’s sick. I’m going in on this!’ “I’m a fan of Nicki’s. I think she’s incredible,” he continued. “And I had wanted to work with her for a while. But when she picked this song out herself, I was like, ‘Go ahead. Bless it. Please.’ ” Nicki Minaj is one of the most successful hip-hop artists at the moment, all before her debut album is released. And Jay Sean is pleased not only because her feature in “2012” brings the gravity of her presence, but that she attacked the song with a swagger different from her usual form. “A testament to a great artist is the fact that they are able to interpret the song for what it is,” Sean said. “Now, Nicki is a rapper. This is a pop record. She took the message of having fun and enjoying yourself, living like it’s the end, living every minute like it’s the last, and she put that vibe and that swagger on the track … and that voice is fun and playful on it. It was great.” Minaj also appears in the video for “2012” , which was shot last month in Los Angeles. Jay Sean’s sophomore U.S. effort, Freeze Time, is tentatively set for a November 2 release. Rick Ross Doesn’t Get ‘Thought Process’ Behind Young Jeezy’s ‘B.M.F.’

The streets are speculating about Jeezy’s latest track ‘Death B4 Dishonor,’ in Mixtape Daily. By Shaheem Reid Rick Ross Photo: MTV News The O.D.: A Mixtape Daily Exclusive You know we only drop Mixtape Daily twice in one day when it really calls for it; we like to give you this dopeness in doses. Earlier, we brought you the latest on Slick Pulla , and now we’re going to keep it on the topic of CTE. As the 1515 fellas were heading out of the headquarters to begin an early b-day celebration for our very own J-Rod, CTE blasted out the new Young Jeezy record “Death B4 Dishonor” from his new mixtape 1000 Grams (due Thursday at 1:03 p.m.). The Snowman raps over Rick Ross’ instrumental to “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast),” and a few lines set Twitter on fire: “How you Blowin’ Money Fast?/ You don’t know the crew/ Oh, you part of the fam?/ Sh–, I never knew.” Plenty of people were speculating that Young was throwing not-so-subliminal jabs at Rick Ross, a Def Jam labelmate whom he has collaborated with in the past. We’ll have to catch up with Jeezy and Ross soon to find out what’s really going down, but eyebrows were first raised in late June when Jeezy released the track “B.M.F. (The Real Blowin’ Money Fast).” Young declined to speak about the song. We asked Ross what he thought about Jeezy’s “B.M.F.,” and the Carol City hitmaker said he didn’t understand it, but he wasn’t upset by the track. “I haven’t had a chance to talk to the homie,” Ross said. “I really don’t know what the thought process was behind it. My record was called ‘Blowin’ Money Fast.’ It confused me that if it was called ‘The Real B.M.F.,’ I would have called it ‘The Black Mafia Family.’ … You know, you may have to ask him. Other than that, we still reppin’, we still riding, and [my] record is getting love everywhere. So it’s all good.” What is your take on Jeezy’s new song? Share your thoughts in the comments. Proof, Blacks Make Better Runners Than Whites. But Whites Are Better Swimmers According to Duke University Study

WASHINGTON (AFP) – Scientists have found the reason why blacks dominate on the running track and whites in the swimming pool: it's in their belly-buttons, a study published Monday shows. What's important is not whether an athlete has an innie or an outie but where his or her navel is in relation to the rest of the body, says the study published in the International Journal of Design and Nature and Ecodynamics. The navel is the center of gravity of the body, and given two runners or swimmers of the same height, one black and one white, “what matters is not total height but the position of the belly-button, or center of gravity,” Duke University professor Andre Bejan, the lead author of the study, told AFP. “It so happens that in the architecture of the human body of West African-origin runners, the center of gravity is significantly higher than in runners of European origin,” which puts them at an advantage in sprints on the track, he said. Individuals of West African-origin have longer legs than European-origin athletes, which means their belly-buttons are three centimeters (1.18 inches) higher than whites', said Bejan. That means the black athletes have a “hidden height” that is three percent greater than whites', which gives them a significant speed advantage on the track. “Locomotion is essentially a continual process of falling forward, and mass that falls from a higher altitude, falls faster,” Bejan explained. In the pool, meanwhile, whites have the advantage because they have longer torsos, making their belly-buttons lower in the general scheme of body architecture. “Swimming is the art of surfing the wave created by the swimmer,” said Bejan. “The swimmer who makes the bigger wave is the faster swimmer, and a longer torso makes a bigger wave. Europeans have a three-percent longer torso than West Africans, which gives them a 1.5-percent speed advantage in the pool,” he said. Asians have the same long torsos as Europeans, giving them the same potential to be record-breakers in the pool. But they often lose out to whites because whites are taller, said Bejan. Many scientists have avoided studying why blacks make better sprinters and whites better swimmers because of what the study calls the “obvious” race angle. But Bejan said the study he conducted with Edward Jones, a professor at Howard University in Washington, and Duke graduate Jordan Charles, focused on the athletes' geographic origins and biology, not race, which the authors of the study call a “social construct.” Bejan is white, originally from Romania, and Jones is black, from South Carolina. They charted and analyzed nearly 100 years of records in men's and women's sprinting and 100-meters freestyle swimming for the study. added by: congoboy

Drake and band work out kinks in ‘Find Your Love.’ By Jayson Rodriguez Drake Photo: MTV Most rappers perform on stage alongside a hype man, from Jay-Z and Memphis Bleek to Busta Rhymes and Spliff Star. But Drake — who is already unlike most MCs because he also sings during performances — worries about his background singers when he puts his shows more than who’ll rap next to him. Prior to a recent performance in Toronto, the hometown star decided during his rehearsal that his set would need more than just the band backing him. “If I had a female voice,” he says in an exclusive outtake from MTV’s “Drake: Better Than Good Enough” documentary . “Someone else to go back and forth [with]. His keyboard player and musical confidant “D10” asks if Drake felt overwhelmed performing “Find Your Love” (which he also performed on “The Tonight Show” last night) onstage by himself. “To do the whole thing with no accompaniment, no nothing, it’s impossible,” Drake responds. “No singer — if you look, Alicia Keys, [Beyonc

Lil Wayne Records Verse For Drake’s ‘Light Up’ From Prison

‘Recording over the phone, I hope the call don’t drop,’ Wayne raps in remix. By Jayson Rodriguez Lil Wayne Photo: Frank Micelotta/ Getty Images Lil Wayne has blogged from the bing and hosted a mixtape from prison , and now the Cash Money Records superstar has kicked a rhyme from behind bars. Weezy recorded a verse for Drake’s “Light Up” featuring Jay-Z ; the original track is set to appear on the Toronto MC’s forthcoming debut, Thank Me Later, slated for a June 15 release. Drizzy premiered the number Tuesday night during a Ustream session with Jas Prince, the son of legendary Rap-A-Lot Record founder J. Prince. “I’m feeling like Elvis, ‘Jailhouse Rock,’ ” Wayne raps via telephone. “I’m not 2Pac, I’m the new ‘Pac/ Behind bars, but the bars don’t stop/ Recording over the phone, I hope the call don’t drop/ Drizzy got the ball, I know the ball won’t drop/ And I pray none of my kids ever wanna be Pop.” Drake first hinted at the “Light Up” remix during his listening session in New York last week. The Young Money recording artist visited his mentor prior to the session and later told MTV 2 “Sucker Free” host DJ Envy that he and Wayne would release a joint project . The album version features only Drake and Jay-Z as the two rappers trade rhymes about their experience in the rap game. Drake told MTV News in March that the track is similar to the advice and conversations he has with the Brooklyn wordsmith. “It’s just me and Jay both rapping on it for an extended period of time,” Drake explained “It’s real rap. I do sing on it, but it’s just on the hook. It’s great. The perspective, the dynamic on the track — it’s me and Jay’s relationship on the song, basically. When you hear it, people will be like, ‘Oh man.’ That’s how we are — just the two. He definitely has guided me a lot, as far as his words and his advice. We have a real funny rapport. I always enjoy my conversations with Jay.” What do you think about Lil Wayne’s “Light Up” verse? Let us know in the comments! Related Videos Lil Wayne Goes To Jail Related Artists Lil Wayne Drake
