Sad animal news today. Yoda, a Chinese crested-Chihuahua mix and the reigning winner of the World’s Ugliest Dog crown, has passed away. She was 15. Yoda earned the prestigious award in June 2011 at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in California. For her dogged (BOO!) pursuit of the honor, Yoda won $1,000! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, or something … R.I.P. YODA : A dog so ugly, it’s downright adorable! In an email to the Hanford Sentinel, Yoda’s owner Terry Schumacher writes, “Say a prayer today 4 my YODA… She passed away last night in her sleep.” “I will miss her funny little ways! But comforted knowing she will be joining my Mom and Dad, who loved her so much! Her memories will live on forever!!!”
Private Perry, reporting for duty! Pop superstar Katy Perry debuted the teaser trailer for her ‘Part of Me’ music video today, and she’s ready for combat! Showing the Grammy Award-nominated singer preparing for battle in full army gear, the 25-second tease hints at an interesting final product to say the least. The song, already a hit for Perry, features female-empowering lyrics that some say are a direct slap at ex Russell Brand, though Katy has denied this . Will the video reveal a similar message, whatever that might be? We’ll find out when it fully premieres Wednesday, March 21. For now, the trailer … Katy Perry – Part of Me (Video Teaser)

Johnny Depp stars as vampire Barnabas Collins in Dark Shadows , the Tim Burton movie based on the 1960s TV series of the same name. But this is NOT your typical gothic adaptation. Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : Gossip Cop Discovery Date : 16/03/2012 00:43 Number of articles : 2
The first trailer for Tim Burton ‘s Dark Shadows was unveiled today, revealing what Burton really has up his sleeve for his adaptation of the cult soap opera. Namely: Gothic guffaws! 1970s humor! Johnny Depp playing vampire Barnabas Collins with that unmistakable Johnny Depp quirk! Seriously, is every Depp role for the rest of time going to feel like some variation on his Hunter Thompson? Anyway: Check out the trailer and unleash your thoughts. Head to Apple to watch the trailer in hi-res. I’m sure hardcore Dark Shadows fans will have the most to pick over here, seeing as Burton’s take isn’t quite exactly a straight translation of the ’60s-era melodrama to the big screen. And yet the tone feels so very Burtonesque, the sets and cinematography are lush and vintage, and despite the soundtrack of disco cliches it’s starting to grow on me. Plus, how can anyone resist sardonic teenager Chloe Moretz? Dark Shadows is in theaters May 11 and also features Eva Green , Helena Bonham Carter, Michelle Pfeiffer, Jonny Lee Miller, Jackie Earle Haley, Bella Heathcote, Gulliver McGrath, Christopher Lee, and Alice Cooper as himself, because of course. I’m not quite sold on Clive Owen as Ernest Hemingway, Nicole Kidman as his war-correspondent third wife, Martha Gellhorn, or the sumptuous look of director Philip Kaufman’s take on war-torn WWII-era Europe, but here’s your first look at the May “epic motion picture event” Hemingway & Gellhorn . It immediately calls to mind Kaufman’s Henry & June , what with the tempestuous mid-century literary marriage and famous faces playing historical figures — David Straithairn as John Dos Passos! Lars Ulrich as Dutch documentarian Joris Ivens?? — but the trailer never lets you forget you’re watching Big Time Movie Stars, which is kind of the problem. Thoughts? [ HBO ]
Although she’s one of the leading sex symbols of the 20th century, Raquel Welch doesn’t believe in letting it all hang out. And she has no problem making this point in interviews over and over (and over) again. Most recently, Raquel lamented the state of “porn culture” in Men’s Health magazine: “I think we’ve gotten to the point in our culture where we’re all sex addicts, literally. We have equated happiness in life with as many orgasms as you can possibly pack in, ” she says. “I think this era of porn is at least partially responsible for it. Where is the anticipation and the personalization? It’s an exploitation of the poor male’s libidos. Poor babies – they can’t control themselves!” “I don’t care if I’m being one of those old fogies who says, ‘Back in my day we didn’t have to hear about sex all the time,’ she adds. “They’re ruining us with all the explanations and graphicness.” Get with the times, Raquel! There’s plenty of opportunity for personalization on the internet. Why, we could show you dozens of websites that cater to…oh, never mind. You wouldn’t appreciate them anyway. See the trailer for Piranha 3DD after the jump!
In HBO’s new film Game Change , Sarah Palin is portrayed by Julianne Moore as unstable, unprepared and ill-informed on world affairs and basic world history. The former GOP V.P. candidate is none too pleased about all this, even though the film is based on John Heilemann and Mark Halperin’s page-turning bestseller. A non-fiction bestseller. Of course, Palin will never actually see it, but dag gone it, “Hollywood lies are Hollywood lies,” she says of Game Change and its window into the 2008 election. Palin accuses Jay Roach, the director, and his collaborator, Danny Strong, of trying “[To] drum up their money and their machine and their machine happens to be very pro-leftist, pro-Barack Obama … there at HBO.” The one-time Alaska Governor lambasted its “false narrative” also noted that any of the campaign staffers who contributed to revealing behind-the-scenes information for Game Change should feel “shame and… embarrassment.” Palin’s PAC slammed the film , debuting tomorrow night, as “historical fiction.” The PAC claims that despite the alleged 25 sources consulted, “none are on record nor is their level of involvement in the campaign disclosed. Not one source is on the record in either the book or in the movie and it is clear why.” Never mind that much of the film involves Moore reenacting scenes that took place in real life, on TV … or that the film might not even be that negative. The L.A. Times describes Game Change as a “surprisingly kind film about Sarah Palin,” and NPR argues that the movie actually goes too easy on her. Or as they put it (to Fox News), Game Change is “fair – and balanced.” Check out the trailer for the much-talked-about film right here: Game Change Movie Trailer
Lady Gaga wants kids to rethink their entire social structure. A bold, broad and ambitious task, but would you expect anything less from the Mother Monster? With her new Born This Way Foundation, that’s exactly what she’s striving for. She has some specific ideas for how it might work, too … Asked by Time how an 11-year-old girl might follow Gaga’s advice and become more empowered, rather than succumb to other patterns, the singer-songwriter says: “She could go up to a person in class who maybe is not one of the cool kids and say, ‘I really like your T-shirt.’ Her one great loving, accepting deed for the day.” That would be a brave step, which is what the initiative is about – combatting meanness and cruelty, inspiring bravery and working toward an accepting society. “I’m doing everything I can, working with experts, studying statistics, trying to figure out a way we can make it cool or normal to be kind and loving,” says Lady Gaga . Gaga, 25, says she was bullied in school and acknowledges it will be long process to shift people’s perceptions, but says one first step is not to demonize bullies. “We do not make a distinction between the bully and the victim,” she says. “Because each person is an equally important and valuable member of society.” “What the foundation is about is a transformative change that is going to take a long time to affect the overall culture. Bullies were born this way, too.” A tough task, but you gotta admire her for taking on such an important subject and tackling it from the ground up. Just one of many reasons we love the Gaga.
