“Why just watch when you can feel’” That was the question ABC Entertainment Group President Paul Lee put to advertisers while pitching next year’s lineup at the network’s upfront presentation. Those are awfully grandiose words for someone affiliated with The Bachelor and Dancing with the Stars (both returning next year), don’t you think? The shows that apparently weren’t living up to this lofty guiding… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : Film School Rejects Discovery Date : 15/05/2012 22:15 Number of articles : 2

Dissecting the Trailers for ABC’s Most Promising New Shows

WATCH: People Like Us Trailer Gets Rich Quick

The new trailer for People Like Us (nee Welcome to People ) is here, featuring Chris Pine and Elizabeth Banks as siblings who meet only after their father dies. The inheritance/estrangement/salvation plot (and a vaguely incestuous vibe that the trailer mostly counteracts with a few key shots of Olivia Wilde as Pine’s wife) thickens around the family, with Michelle Pfeiffer dropping in as Pine’s mother, which is just as bizarre as I expected it would be . Overall, though? Screenwriter Alex Kurtzman’s directorial debut looks all right! If nothing else, at least the title is an improvement. [via Moviefone ] People Like Us – Trailer No. 1 Follow S.T. Why Don’t Women Narrate Trailers?

With relations between the sexes having recently hit a dispiriting cultural low (news avoiders may consult Time Magazine’s helpful round-up ” Are Women People ?” for cringe-inducing details), now is as good a time as any to ask and perhaps answer the burning question, “Why don’t women narrate movie trailers?” Conveniently, the BBC is here to offer some insights. It all sounds like a bunch of chauvinist shit-shoveling to me, but your mileage may vary. All I know is that newly, criminally deposed NYC news anchor Sue Simmons could turn this trend around in about a week flat with the right agent. Let’s go, Sue! Jeff Who Lives At Home Trailer: Jason Segel, Ed Helms Get Brotherly

Here is a trailer for Jeff Who Lives at Home , which tells the very unusual story of sibling men-children (Jason Segel and Ed Helms) dealing with crises of various import. Epiphanies are had, edgy humor is achieved, Porsches are wrecked. Susan Sarandon cries and enjoys the cathartic eruption of office fire sprinklers. Some kids sing cheerily over the closing credits. It opens March 16. What did I miss?

Latest ‘All Things Fall Apart’ Trailer: 50/50 Cent

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson may be pleading the indie case and fighting the unfortunate cultural fight to shore up interest in his cancer drama All Things Fall Apart , and the film’s marketing may have improved since its LOLtastic first teaser last year. But in the end, as the latest trailer will attest, the film still looks about as appealing as a ham-and-chemo sandwich — with extra ham, natch. I know what you’re thinking: ” Needs more ‘Yellow Ledbetter,’ ” amirite ? Don’t answer that. [Yahoo! via THR ]

Five-Year Engagement Trailer: Holy Christ, Alison Brie and Jacki Weaver Are In the Same Movie

The first trailer for The Five-Year Engagement has arrived, and only time will tell where it falls on Universal chief Ron Meyer’s well-known quality-control spectrum . Does the story of one couple’s protracted wedding plan look funny enough? Sure. Will Emily Blunt and Jason Segel bring in the dates and the dudes alike? Why not? But do you know what really sells this movie? I can barely even write it.

Sugar Ray Leonard on Real Steel, Life Behind the Scenes and the Problem With Boxing Today

You might not think that Real Steel , the sci-fi action flick about a washed-up boxer and the junkyard robot he trains toward a fictional fighting championship, would carry much boxing credibility. But that’s where Sugar Ray Leonard comes in. The Hall of Famer was recruited by director Shawn Levy to choreograph the robot fights and most importantly, to advise the filmmakers on how to establish a humanistic relationship between the movie’s beleaguered trainer (Hugh Jackman) and Atom, the robo-underdog he takes on, that audiences will want to root for.

Please Describe the My Week With Marilyn Trailer to Me

My Week With Marilyn screens this weekend as the Centerpiece selection of the New York Film Festival, and seeing as I have every intention of hauling my sleeping bag and lantern and Boggle game over and camping out overnight for a seat, there is no way I’m compromising a shred of my anticipation by watching Michelle Williams, Eddie Redmayne, Kenneth Branagh and the rest of the principals gathered in the film’s first trailer. But! That doesn’t mean I won’t read your inspired descriptions of what happens within.
