Sean Kingston Expected To Make Full Recovery In Six Weeks

Singer reportedly suffered a broken jaw, fractured wrist, water in lungs in jet-ski crash. By Gil Kaufman Sean Kingston Photo: Getty After entering a hospital on Sunday with critical injuries from a personal watercraft crash, singer, Sean Kingston is now expected to make a full recovery from his injuries. CNN , citing two unnamed sources close to Kingston, reported that the injuries sustained in the crash should take around six weeks to heal. The sources told the news network that the “Beautiful Girls” singer suffered a broken jaw, a fractured wrist and water in his lungs. The last update from Kingston’s label, Epic Records, reported that he was in “critical but stable condition” in a Miami hospital on Tuesday. His rep also told MTV News that Kingston , 21, is “aware of what is going on around him” and that he was “sedated but fully conscious.” On Sunday, Kingston and a female passenger crashed his Sea Doo jet ski into the Palm Island Bridge at approximately 6 p.m. ET. After being rescued by an off-duty Coast Guard employee, the pop star was taken to the trauma center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, but has since been moved to the intensive care unit. TMZ spoke to Kingston’s rescuer, who said that Sean was “puking up blood out of his mouth.” Another witness told the site he noticed a gash under Kingston’s chin after the crash. Cassandra Sanchez, 23, Sean’s friend and passenger on the jet ski at the time of the accident, has since been discharged from the hospital, Kingston’s rep confirmed. Sanchez told TMZ that Kingston tried to turn away from the bridge but was going “really fast” and couldn’t avoid the crash. Sanchez also said that as Kingston was maneuvering toward the bridge, she urged him to stop and screamed out, “We can’t fit under there! Are we going to try and go under there? Sean, stop!” Sanchez told TMZ on Tuesday that she had no plans to press charges against Kingston over the crash. “I know this whole thing was just an accident,” she said. “I won’t be pressing any type of charges or hiring a lawyer. Sean is a good guy.” CNN reported that Kingston had bought the jet ski just days before the accident, as he prepared to move into a new house in Miami. An eyewitness said Sean’s life vest fell off during the crash, which caused him to sink below the water. “They were calling us over, telling us, ‘He’s drowning, he’s drowning,’ ” witness Carmen Rivera told CNN. “We jumped in the water to help him keep his head above water,” friend Jimmy Vega added. “I pushed him up, and he was vomiting what seemed like water, and then there was some blood coming out,” Jonathan Rivera said. Rapper Trav, whose new song “Up and Down” features Kingston, told CNN he visited his friend in the hospital on Monday and said Sean was “very responsive.” Send your well wishes to Kingston by leaving a comment below. Evan Rachel Wood: Yes, I’m Bisexual

In the latest issue of Esquire , Evan Rachel Wood confirms what many have suspected for a long time: she’s bisexual. “I was always into very androgynous things. Guys, girls… I’m into androgyny in general,” the actress tells the publication, adding this trait attracted her to ex Marilyn Manson.”I think one of the things that freaked people out so much is that we looked so different.” On True Blood , Wood’s character is also into both genders. Then again, she’s also a vampire. “I’m more of like the guy when it comes to girls. I’m the dominant one,” she says of her dating history. “I’m opening the doors, I’m buying dinner. Yeah, I’m romantic.” Does Wood care with whom she ends up? Nope, she just wants to be happy, saying she’s “up for anything” with “a nice guy, [or] a nice girl.”

Kara DioGuardi Writes on Child Molestation, Rape

In her upcoming memoir, “A Helluva High Note,” former American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi writes about her successful career in the music business. But it’s DioGuardi’s personal past that is getting attention right now, as excerpts of the book have been released and they focus on a pair of traumatic experiences: molestation and date rape. Of the former, Kara details the repeated actions taken by a family friend’s son when she was 11 years old. He was in his late teens and: “On one particular day, he took me into the back shed of his house and put his hands all over my breasts and vagina. I remember freezing and not knowing what to do.” In 2000, meanwhile, DioGuardi was moving up in the music world and went on a date with a “fairly known producer.” This is how she described what took place after dinner: “[W]ithin a few hours, he was on top of me, pumping, sweating, and speaking to me in Spanish, not a word of which I could understand.” Kara says she did not tell anyone about the incident because she feared it would ruin her career. In yet another example of a harrowing personal experience, DioGuardi alleges that a “hugely successful artist” invited her to three-day songwriting trip. Instead of working, though, she writes, “the trip’s activities consisted of watching Russian porn, scavenging around the kitchen for food [and] leering at two strippers… as they performed sex acts in the living room.” Still, the writer continued to work with the singer because she was intent on proving that he couldn’t derail her career. On the Idol front, DioGuardi says she wanted out of her contract because she needed the free time to get pregnant via IVF. She sums up that exit in the following manner: “Leaving was painful and there will always be a part of me that wanted to stay. But my desire to be in control of my destiny was larger than my need to be a household name.”

DJ Trauma Wants To Make ‘Classic’ Mixtapes

‘I remember having a Kid Capri tape from ’88; I still have the cassette tape,’ Atlanta DJ tells Mixtape Daily. By Alvin Blanco, with reporting by Rahman Dukes DJ Trauma Photo: MTV News DJ Trauma is taking his skills to a bigger stage. After spinning at Atlanta’s Hot 107.9 for 10 years, Trauma recently left the station to focus on being the tour DJ for Ciara and Sean “The Pen” Garrett, as well as his own Carte Blanche team. Trauma has long been a key member of the ATL DJ/mixtape scene thanks to his role as a co-founder of the Superfriends DJ clique, his work on radio and as a staple on the club scene, holding down parties for Diddy, Jamie Foxx and Jay-Z, among others. Although Trauma has plenty of hip-hop ties, he believes his breakthrough mixtape was last year’s #ialmostmadeamixtape, which had him teaming up with British R&B crooner Estelle. “I really wanted to start focusing on the music that I love to hear and I want to help the world hear,” Trauma told Mixtape Daily. “I want to create mixtapes that are not disposable. That’s part of what’s wrong with the mixtape game now, ’cause I remember having a Kid Capri tape from ’88, I still have the cassette tape. People still download the links. I want to create tapes like that, that no matter what, it’s classic. A Trap or Die [mixtape] is classic. That’s the type of mixtape I want to create. Even if it’s an Estelle, which is kind of like pop music or soul, a lot of her records are real soulful and real good music. I want to do stuff like that.” While Trauma’s output also includes a tape with neo-soul singer (and Barack Obama playlist entry) Anthony David, his latest is an EP with former “American Idol” contestant Anoop Desai. Titled Zero.0, Trauma eventually assembled all of the producers and songwriters for the project, earning himself a co-executive producer credit. “What ended up happening is it turned into a real album,” Trauma said of Zero.0, the first of planned trilogy. “It’s called Zero because everything starts and ends from zero. … [Anoop] used to sing in an acapella group. You get his soul and R&B influences on the tape but then you also end off with his single, ‘OoWee,’ which is like a straight dance/pop song.” Billboard hosted the free mixtape upon its initial release and on April 20 a high-quality version will be available for purchase on iTunes. Next, Trauma plan to drop another mixtape, The Sex Tape Chronicles 2, with Verse Simmonds, as well as his own I Am the Party project, inspired by music that gets people jamming no matter what part of the world they’re in. As Trauma put it, “No matter where you are in the world, you can party with me.” For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines .

Bret Michales Files Lawsuit Against the Tony Awards

It’s one of the funniest videos on record. But, to Bret Michaels, what happened in June 2009 is no laughing matter. The rocker took to the Tony Awards’ stage two years ago, sang alongside the Rock of Ages cast – and then knocked himself silly against a piece of scenery. Relive the dangerous/unfortunate/hilarious incident below: Bret Michaels, Tony Awards Accident Yesterday, Michaels filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court against Tony Award Productions, CBS and others for unspecified damages, claiming producers failed to instruct him how to properly exit the stage following this performance. Bret was treated for a broken nose and cut lip at the scene, and the suit says his brain injury months later was due to this mishap. Reads the document: “One of the most common causes of this type of hemorrhage is head trauma – exactly like the one Michaels suffered at the hands of the Tony Awards.”

Bret Michaels Sues Tonys Over 2009 Onstage Injury

Lawsuit cites the incident as cause of Poison frontman’s near-fatal brain hemorrhage last year. By James Dinh Bret Michaels Photo: Brian Ach/WireImage Bret Michaels is suing Tony Award Productions and CBS for his stage mishap at the 2009 Tony Awards , where the rock singer slammed his head against a stage prop that descended from the ceiling. TMZ reports that the lawsuit, which was filed Friday (March 25), has Michaels alleging that he was not properly instructed on how to exit the stage following his “Nothin’ But a Good Time” performance alongside his Poison bandmates and the cast of the “Rock of Ages” musical. He claims he had to be hospitalized for a broken nose and a cut lip. However, things took a turn for the worse six months later when the rock star nearly died from a subarachnoid brain hemorrhage . And in the lawsuit, Michaels, who is suing for unspecified damages, claims that the onstage injury is in direct relation with his near-fatal hospitalization. “One of the most common causes of this type of hemorrhage is head trauma — exactly like the one Michaels suffered at the hands of the Tony Awards,” the lawsuit claims. “Through his sheer will to live, to see his children grow up, [he] was able to survive this trauma.” Bret says in the suit that producers have “failed and refused” to help aid the situation and claimed that he “missed his mark” during the performance. Reps for Michaels have previously alleged the awards show’s negligence in the incident. In a statement to MTV News days after the mishap, the singer’s reps cited a “lack of communication” between their client and “the producers, directors, stage managers and crew” of the awards show. ‘Remember to wear your seatbelt-wish I was,’ actor writes following head-on collision. By MTV News staff David Arquette Photo: Johnny Nunez/WireImage While it was reported that David Arquette was lying on the ground and bleeding after a head-on car crash Friday (March 4), the recently embattled actor took to Twitter hours later to let his followers know he’s going to be OK. “I got into a car accident but I’m fine,” he tweeted, adding a quip about tiger-blooded fellow actor Charlie Sheen . “Luckily I have dragon’s blood running through my veins. Haha Thank you for all your concern.” A few minutes before that message, Arquette tweeted , “Remember to wear your seatbelt-wish I was.” According to TMZ , Arquette was driving in West Hollywood, California, when his car veered into oncoming traffic. A photograph posted on the site showed Arquette lying on his back in the grass with his eyes closed and his hands crossed over his chest. The “Scream 4” actor has had a difficult few months beginning last October when he and his wife of 11 years, Courteney Cox, announced their plans to separate . Since that announcement, Arquette spent time at a rehabilitation facility to deal with alcohol abuse and “other issues.” “Everybody’s worried and concerned about me,” Arquette said during one of a series of revealing interviews with friend and radio host Howard Stern. “I’ve been drinking a lot because I’m heartbroken. It’s really a personal, traumatic thing. … When I drink, I become a maniac.” Arquette had previously revealed to Stern details about his sex life with his ex and his distress over the separation. At the time he checked into rehab earlier this year, Courteney Cox told People magazine, “I really admire David and his choice to take charge and better his life. I love and support him.”

Wiz Khalifa Says ‘Roll Up’ Is ‘For Guys To Sing To Chicks’

Wiz talks to MTV News on the set of his Jake Davis-directed video. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Matt Elias Wiz Khalifa on the set of “Roll Up” Photo: MTV News Oh, that Wiz Khalifa is so clever. The “Black and Yellow” star followed up his breakout single, which reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, with “Roll Up.” When he spoke to MTV News late last year, he teased the song as a nod to his favorite pastime — his album is called Rolling Papers , after all. “The next single is called ‘Roll Up,’ surprisingly,” he coyly explained with a laugh. The song, however, is anything but smoke inducing: It’s more of the skirt-chasing variety. “I was trying to be funny, be clever as possible,” Wiz told us recently on the set of the video for “Roll Up.” “It’s for the chicks. It’s for guys to sing to chicks. And it’s just a fun song.” In the clip, directed by Jake Davis (Drake and Trey Songz’s “Successful”), Wiz said he is “courting a female that I’m into.” Instead of real-life love interest Amber Rose, however, the Pittsburgh rapper has his sights set on the female lead in the video, Bad Boy recording artist Cassie. “It’s really, really awesome,” Wiz said of her casting. After being named one of MTV News’ 11 for ’11 celebrities to look out for in the new year, Wiz has managed to put a lot on his plate. He’s gracing the cover of the new Rolling Stone , he’s scheduled to start the Green Carpet Tour next month, and he and Snoop Dogg are finishing up their “High School” movie and music joint effort. But first, Wiz has to drop his album — Rolling Papers , his major-label debut, is set for a March 29 release — after a long rise to stardom for the former underground favorite. “I been waiting to put an album out for a long time,” he said. “But I feel like now my sound, at this point, has grown and matured and it’s right where it needs to be at for people to get that perfect pull and debut album from me. I’m ready to deliver.” Are you awaiting the release of Rolling Papers ? Tell us below! Related Artists Wiz Khalifa
