Justin Bieber Admitted To St. Joseph’s Hospital

StarBuzz Weekly, Toronto-January 14, 2011 : Justin Bieber surely did send his fans the ‘Beliebers’ into a tailspin by the news that he was taken to a hospital last night. The Canadian singer was shooting for an upcoming episode in California for the series ‘CSI’ and complained of having difficulty in breathing. No time was wasted and he was immediately taken to the California’s Provindance St. Joseph’s hospital in Burbank at 7 P.M. The teenage heartthrob gave his shots and the incident happened when the crew of ‘CSI’ was wrapping up the day’s work. After admitting Bieber to the hospital, he underwent a full check up and his personal physician too met him there. Justin was released from the hospital half an hour later after being admitted and was said to be doing fine. A source said that the reason for Bieber’s trouble with breathing was caused due to some allergic reaction. We wonder whether the allergic reaction was a psychological one that affected him physically. It is on the same day that Bieber’s alleged girlfriend Selena Gomez’ Twitter account got hacked and the hacker posted some mean tweets about the 16year old ‘Baby’ hit maker. But whatever be the reason for Justin suffering an ill-health, we wish him well. One of Justin’s representatives later told that the singer went back to the sets of ‘CSI’, it is already known that the singer will be a recurring character in this season of the crime drama series. -Sampurn Wire StarBuzz Weekly -Toronto. ‘Vice Guide To Everything’ Host Recalls Residential Strip Club

Ryan Duffy discusses meeting Detroit man who runs a 24-hour strip club in dead parents’ house on premiere episode. By Rya Backer Ryan Duffy Photo: Mark Metcalf/ Getty Images A lot happens on MTV’s new series “The Vice Guide to Everything.” Hosts Ryan Duffy, Thomas Morton, and Shane Smith — who also co-founded the magazine that launched the Vice brand 15 years ago — travel to places like Russia, Ghana and North Korea in search of compelling people and their stories, which they’ll share with MTV viewers on Mondays at 11 p.m. Duffy’s adventures this season include getting shot (while wearing a bulletproof jacket) in Colombia and trailing a Mafia-funded pop star in Naples, Italy, but he recently told MTV News he didn’t have to travel far for his most memorable meeting. “I will always very vividly remember meeting Jay Thunderbolt,” Duffy said about the Detroit man who was running a 24-hour all-nude strip club out of his dead parents’ house. Duffy was treated to complimentary shots, got to look through Thunderbolt’s self-defense gear and enjoyed a lap dance from his crew of willing ladies. But the host admitted that he ran up against MTV’s standards team when it came to the footage. “You could show the girl doing the flip on my lap where she put her legs up. She started to spread them, but you couldn’t show the spreading. You had to cut it right before then,” Duffy explained. “Which was fine with me, by the way, because I have a mother and a grandmother,” he added. Thunderbolt clearly made an impression on the rest of the “Vice Guide” family, too, as he was invited to the show’s New York premiere last week with his return flight booked for the next day. “The thing about Jay is he probably hasn’t left Detroit in 30 years. He hasn’t flown in, God knows how long. When we booked him a flight his first question was, ‘How many of my guns can I bring?’ His second was, ‘Could you get me a smoking seat?’ Clearly a little bit dated in his travel plans, but the next day, Jay did not get in the cab we sent to bring him to the airport, or the next cab, or the next one, or the fifth one. And we have no idea whether he ever got on a flight and went home,” Duffy lamented. “So, Jay Thunderbolt could be roaming the streets of New York right now.” “The Vice Guide to Everything” airs Mondays at 11 p.m. ET on MTV. Paris Hilton Detained In Japan After U.S. Cocaine Plea

Heiress held in hotel room as officials review Monday’s guilty plea. By Gil Kaufman Paris Hilton Photo: Newscom Despite entering a guilty plea in her cocaine-possession case in Las Vegas, Paris Hilton found out Tuesday (September 21) that the repercussions of her arrest will not go away immediately. After flying to Japan on what was described as a business trip to promote her fashion line, the 29-year-old party fixture was delayed by immigration officials upon her arrival in the country. The Associated Press reported that the promotional event on Tuesday was canceled, but it was unknown at press time if Hilton would continue on to the other countries on her itinerary: Indonesia and Malaysia. The promo tour had reportedly been planned before Hilton’s arrest last month after an officer found a small amount of cocaine in her purse following a traffic stop. “Paris was contractually bound to her business trip and didn’t want to let down her brands and many Asian fans,” Hilton spokesperson Dawn Miller said in a statement. “She intended on fulfilling her contract and is trying hard to do the responsible thing, but this is beyond her control. She is very disappointed by tonight’s events.” On Monday, Hilton pleaded guilty to drug possession and obstructing an officer in a deal that will save her from serving a one-year term in jail. In return, she has to pay $2,000 in fines, perform 200 hours of community service and complete what is being described as an “intensive” substance-abuse program. She was also given a one-year suspended sentence in the case, which means that if she is arrested for anything besides a minor traffic violation in Vegas in the next year, she will have to serve the full one-year term. Hilton will also be on probation for one year. The terms did not, however, restrict her travel overseas. TMZ reported that Hilton was held in a Japanese hotel overnight while immigration officials reviewed her case. An unnamed employee of the Consulate-General of Japan in New York told the site that the country has very strict rules about allowing people into the country with recent drug convictions. The hotel heiress was arrested August 27 in Las Vegas after the SUV she was riding in was pulled over and police found 0.8 grams of cocaine in her purse. Hilton later claimed the purse didn’t belong to her and blasted rumors surrounding her case . Related Photos Paris Hilton Pleads Guilty In Las Vegas Moments In Paris Hilton’s Legal Life

Jack Black Calls ‘Gulliver’s Travels’ A ‘Powerful Gem’

Jack Black in “Gulliver’s Travels” Photo: 20th Century Fox If there is one role Jack Black seems perfectly suited for, it is that of Jonathan Swift’s beloved Lemuel Gulliver from “Gulliver’s Travels.” The classic tale has been retold by plenty of television shows and films. But this version, which arrives in theaters December 22, stars Black, Amanda Peet, Emily Blunt and Jason Segel — and, according to Peet, it showcases . When MTV News caught up with Black recently, we had a hard time keeping him on topic (chocolate-covered Gulliver candy bars, anyone?). But what we did learn is that the flick is going to be “good times” and that the 3-D is 90% awesome. MTV: What can I expect from ‘Gulliver’s travels’? Jack Black: It’s a powerful gem. It’s the old classic tale faithfully retold! We’ve taken some liberties. We’ve updated it; we’ve modernized with a pinch of spice as well. MTV: I feel that you are the “King Kong” in this scenario. Black: Exactly! Now I get to be the beast. But I’m a sweet beast; I don’t rip the heads off innocent bystanders. We might actually add that to the title … “Gulliver’s Travels: The Sweet Beast.” Would you see that? MTV: That sounds like a date night movie to me! Black: That could also work in with a merchandise tie-in, like a candy bar that’s called Beasts. And shaped like me — you can eat me! MTV: Would you want to eat yourself? Black: Well, I eat myself. I chew my fingernails. MTV: Right. So why not eat yourself covered in chocolate. Black: Man, if I could eat myself I would! MTV: So did you read the original Jonathan Swift book, or no? Black: Of course! Are you kidding me? And let me tell you something, if I hadn’t, I would have never have sent it to you. No, I hadn’t, actually, when I was first offered the project. But I quickly read it and was blown away by it. One of the great masterworks of fantasy and fiction. MTV: Like myself, you’re not the tallest guy on the planet. Is it refreshing for you to be the big guy? Black: Totally. This is gonna really appeal to all of those guys out there who have a bit of a Napoleonic complex. MTV: Right. Black: How tall are you? MTV: I’m about 5’8″. Black: You’re 5’8″? Ok come on, you’re with me, baby. This movie is for you and me! MTV: That’s what I’m saying. I’m excited! So how is the effect stuff? Are you by yourself, or are you doing scenes with Jason and Emily and everybody? Black: Sometimes, yeah, sometimes I was. Sometimes you’re just remembering what we did on the other side of it. I was there for all their little stuff, but when they turned the cameras on me six months later, most of the people were gone and I was just acting to a tennis ball. MTV: Is Emily a love interest for you? Because that would present a physical problem. Black: No. She and Jason Segel have a bit of heat. Horatio is like my best buddy in Lilliputia, in the land of tiny people. Horatio, that’s Jason Segel. And he’s too nervous to ask her out, so I teach him the ways of the Casanova, and I help him to woo her. MTV: Are they an advanced people, or a backward society? Black: No, it’s an alternate universe, where it’s kind of like 18th-century architecture, but with super-skillful builders so they have a lot of technology but not. It’s like steampunk. It’s like if computer technology had been invented in Egyptian times! It’s both! It’s future and past at the same time. MTV: How do you feel about looking at yourself in 3-D? Black: The only people who have seen themselves in 3-D are people who have been in 3-D movies, because all you can do is look at [yourself] in a mirror reflection. Your hand’s in 3-D. You can see the corners of your nose in 3-D, kind of. You can see your lips and your tongue if you stick it out really far. But besides that, you don’t see your face in 3-D. MTV: What’s it like? Black: It’s a trip! Didn’t know how handsome I was until I saw myself in 3-D! MTV: Right. How would you characterize this guy? Black: Let me just say, though, before we go any further, I noticed a little something in your voice when you talked about the conversion into 3-D, how do I feel about that? I just wanna say, most of this movie is CGI-generated images, you know what I mean? Like every shot has computer generated animation? To make the giant and tiny mix together you need to have tons of that stuff in there. And those things can be true 3-D, there’s not really a conversion there. It’s really just … like an animated film isn’t shot in 3-D, but it’s converted, because they do it in post, and it’s real true 3-D, so most of the movie will be real and true 3-D. It’s terrifying! MTV: Are you a 3-D snob? Do you like 3-D? Black: Yes I am a 3-D snob, and I just want to clarify: Only 10% of this movie will be lame 3-D. The other 90% will be the best 3-D that money can buy! MTV: Which will overcompensate for the 10%? Black: That’s right. MTV: What do I need to know about your character in this movie? Black: Gulliver works at a newspaper in New York City, in the mailing room. He’s a small potato, he’s a small fry and he’s very insecure. And he’s a small man in a big man’s world. He’s got big dreams of becoming a big travel writer someday but he’s too insecure to make the move. And he’s also in love with the travel editor, the gorgeous Amanda Peet. He’s too terrified of rejection to make the move. And an opportunity comes up to do a story on the Bermuda Triangle, to prove that it’s bogus? That there are no, you know, supernatural forces in the Bermuda Triangle, that take people away to a different dimension. You know the legend to the Bermuda Triangle, right? MTV: Of course. Everyone knows you don’t mess with the Bermuda Triangle. Black: Well, yeah. Gulliver goes headlong into it just to impress everybody back at the newspaper and hopefully get a date with that hot, hot gorgeous love of his life. Only problem is? The Bermuda Triangle is real, man! And it sucks him in and spits him out in Lilliputia, a land of tiny, tiny little creatures and people. And it’s a bummer at first when he gets there, because they enslave him. And it turns out that he rescues the whole country from their enemies. He’s a giant so he can save them. And all of a sudden he’s the big shot that he always wanted to be. It’s a wish fulfillment movie. You pickin’ up what I’m layin’ down? MTV: I got it, man. Black: I guess what I’m saying is, it’s good times. Swap Your Shop: Like House Swapping With Your Desk Thrown In

TreeHugger has noted before that swapping is good for your budget and for the environment . House-swapping and home exchanges are not new; one company facilitating swaps has been doing it since 1953. It was developed as a way of getting low-cost vacation accommodations, but who takes long vacations anymore? Everybody is too busy working. But the problem of the quick, short vacation is the carbon footprint of the travel, the inability to settle in and get to know a place and its people, and the high cost per day. That’s why

HuffPo’s New Travel Section Just Another Spot for Liberal Spin

What sets The Huffington Post’s new travel section apart from the rest? That in addition to travel tips and destination profiles, readers also get a health dose of the sites liberal agenda. With President Obama coming under fire from Republicans for taking yet another family vacation – this time to Maine – HuffPo jumped to his defense by highlighting a comparison between Obama and his predecessor Bush – in the travel section.  “The Obamas just returned to Washington from their weekend long excursion to Maine,” Kate Auletta wrote. “While the President was given grief about a) taking a vacation and b) taking a vacation that wasn’t to the Gulf, Obama’s vacation days have really been, in comparison to his predecessors, few and far between. CBS took a look back at the history of presidential vacations.” The post also contained a clip of a CBS news video justifying Obama’s frequent vacations by comparing him to Bush, who was widely criticized by the media for trip to his Texas ranch. When CNN mentioned the first family’s vacation, it was under their political ticker blog , not in the travel section. “It will be a one-stop shop, bringing you up-to-the-minute travel news, travel tips and advice, the hottest deals, reviews of hotels, cruises, spas, and airlines, compelling photographs, blog posts about travel, and more, ” HuffPo founder Arianna Huffington said in the launch announcement. It is evident that the “more” Huffington was referencing was political bias.

Global Warming Doomsday Vault Deposit Trip Emits 24,300+ Pounds of Carbon

Some red hot chili peppers are on tour, and they’re emitting a lot of greenhouse gases. But it’s not the California rock band emitting carbon on a worldwide concert tour; it’s seeds from chili peppers traveling to the “doomsday” vault in Norway. A bipartisan congressional delegation visited the Svalbard Global Seed Vault July 11 as a side trip during the 19 th Annual Session of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Parliamentary Assembly. Sens. Ben Cardin, D-Md ., and Dick Durbin, D-Ill., among others, delivered New World chili pepper seeds to the vault, a “fail-safe back-up plan to protect the existing world food supplies from destruction in the event of a large-scale catastrophe.” “As we manage the impact of climate change and other natural and man-made disasters around the world, the seed vault in Svalbard will be the safety deposit box that ensures we can keep that food supply intact,” Cardin said in a statement. Cardin, a member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, is outspoken about environmental issues ranging from green jobs to clean energy . Despite Cardin’s positions, his trip to Norway left a giant carbon footprint – bigger than the footprint left in an entire year by the average American. According to carbon management organization TerraPass.com , the seven-member delegation generated more than 24,300 pounds of carbon just by flying round-trip from Washington, D.C., to Oslo, Norway. That doesn’t account for other travel associated with the trip. According to Climate Crisis , a website affiliated with Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth,” the average person generates 15,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year. Cardin’s delegation generated about 1.5 times as much carbon dioxide just in traveling as the average person generates in an entire year. Durbin, the Senate Democrats’ second in command, has also championed climate change legislation, going as far as calling climate change a “national security threat” with his Global Climate Change Security Oversight Act , introduced in 2007: “For years, too many of us have viewed global warming as simply an environmental or economic issue. We now need to consider it as a security concern.” Despite other climate-conscious liberals hypocritically leaving giant carbon footprints , the media continue to treat it as water under the bridge, which in this case, isn’t as good as the hit Red Hot Chili Peppers song.
