‘Jersey Shore’ New Season: Burning Questions We Want Answered

From Deena drama to the duck phone, here are five things we hope to clear up when the show returns on Thursday. By Eric Ditzian The new cast of “Jersey Shore” Photo: Josh Kessler Previously, on “Jersey Shore” : Snooki, the Situation and the rest of the roomies survived a GTL-filled tear through Miami Beach — motor-boating Jell-O shot girls at night, serving up gelato flavors in the bleary morning — and packed up to head back to Seaside Heights. They brought plenty of baggage with them. When “Jersey Shore” picks up again on Thursday with the premiere of the show’s new season, there will be many lingering questions left over from the reality stars’ time down south. Before this season’s final fist-pump, here are five questions we hope to have answered: Will Sammi and Ronnie Make It Work? The drama between these two lovebirds — by turns crabbily thin-skinned and candidly raw — has provided the show with much of its dramatic energy for two seasons. Sam and Ron ended the second season just as they ended the first: together and in love. But the up-and-down pair is as addicted to relationship conflict as they are to maintaining their tans. No doubt they’ll engage in some (irrational) brawling. Whether they’ll survive a summer of Shore temptation remains to be seen.

Jon Gosselin Tries, Fails to Stop Kate Plus 8 Australian Adventure

Jon Gosselin really doesn’t want his kids on TV anymore. Some have questioned his motives, but he seems intent on living a normal life these days and for his eight offspring to experience the same thing. That said, he went to court to stop Kate Gosselin from dragging them to Australia, but was denied by a judge because the excursion is work related. Once again, Jon and Kate don’t see eye to eye . The same judge allowed Kate Gosselin to film her spin-off reality TV show, Kate Plus 8 , on TLC in the first place, despite vehement objections by Jon . “This was yet another slap in the face for Jon because he did not want the kids to go to Australia,” a source close to Jon Gosselin told Radar Online . “But the judge ruled that because it was for work it was okay. Jon had plans with the kids. Now he won’t see them until they return in mid-January.” “He was scheduled to have them this weekend, but there was nothing he could do as the decision was taken out of his hands by the judge.” “Kate told Jon about the trip, and when he did not agree it was decided that the judge should intervene and the ruling went in her favor.” “He is trying to put a brave face on and has explained the situation to his own family and friends, but this is a big disappointment for him.” “But if nothing else, they all respect him for trying to stand up to Kate and for fighting for what he thinks is right for his kids as well.” Fresh off goin’ camping with Sarah Palin in Alaska, Kate flew to Australia with her eight kids, plus body guard Steve Nield, on Tuesday. The Gosselin crew will also visit New Zealand, and during the excursion they will shoot tons of footage for future episodes of Kate Plus 8 . As for Jon’s plans tonight? “It is most likely that he will be staying in Pennsylvania to be with his girlfriend Ellen Ross plus family and friends as they ring in 2011.” Sounds normal at least.

In Paris, IKEA Makes Waiting for the Bus a Pleasure

Image via Reflex Déco This week, Parisians and visitors to the city taking the bus will have a very different experience while waiting for their ride to arrive. From December 15 until the 21st, IKEA has tricked out the bus stops at 12 different stations throughout the center of Paris, focusing on areas that are heavily trafficked during the holiday season (such as the Champs-Elysées and the Latin Quarter). Sofas, shelves, lighting and decorations are now part of the trip…. Read the full story on TreeHugger

Kontrived Kardashian Kover Khronicles: Kids to Kome!

From WORLD EXCLUSIVES to HOLIDAY MIRACLES, a pair of supermarket tabloids have the Kardashians covered this week. There’s just one problem: no one in that family is pregnant or planning to adopt any children. Other than that, these stories are 100% accurate… In one of the funnier made-up quotes of the year, an imaginary source claims Kim Kardashian will use her trip to South Africa this month to scout potential children for adoption. “Kim has really come around to the idea that she could raise an orphan as her own child and surround it with the love and family that she grew up with,” says an anonymous friend. “She’s not afraid to be a single mom. She knows she has the money and the support network to raise a baby. Now she just has to find the child that she can be a mother to.” In related news, we hear that kids in South Africa have been hitch-hiking their way out of town at a record pace these days.

Bristol Palin Makes Gay Joke About Margaret Cho

Honestly, don’t the Palins have someone who can tell Bristol and Willow to STFU on Facebook? They’re not helping their mom’s cause … whatever that is. In response to Margaret Cho’s recent blog post about Sarah Palin forcing her to go on Dancing With the Stars, Bristol defended her family relatively well . That is, until she ended things with an unfunny gay crack at Cho’s expense. Bristol ruined what was otherwise a decent open letter to Cho . The 20-year-old takes issue with Cho’s assessment that Sarah “harshly and openly” blames Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston for losing the 2008 election. According to Bristol, if the comedian understood conservative politics better, she “would embrace us faster than KD Lang at an Indigo Girls concert.” KD Lang, the Indigo Girls and Margaret Cho? All lesbians. We realize this is basically harmless (except to the institution of comedy), but on the heels of Willow Palin’s homophobic rant , why go there? Idiot.

Body scanner CEO accompanied Obama to India

The CEO of one of the two companies licensed to sell full body scanners to the TSA accompanied President Barack Obama to India earlier this month, a clear sign of the deep ties between Washington politicians and the companies pushing to have body scanners installed at all US airports. Deepak Chopra, chairman and CEO of OSI Systems and no relation to the New Age spiritualist, was one of a number of CEOs who traveled with the president on his three-day trip to India, which focused primarily on expanding business ties between the US and the emerging Asian power. “I am honored to be selected to play a role in this very important cause,” Chopra said in a statement ahead of the trip. “Currently the trade between US and India is only one tenth of the amount of trade between US and China. There is substantial opportunity to improve the trade relations with India for mutual economic gain.” Chopra's company manufactures the Rapiscan brand of body scanners, currently being deployed across US airports. He joined the CEOs of such companies as GE, PepsiCo and United Technologies on the trip. http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2010/11/body-scanner-ceo-obama-india/ added by: CarlosBobthe3rd

Full Frontal Nudity Doesn’t Make Us Safer: Abolish the TSA

In the spirit of bipartisanship and sanity, I propose that the first thing on the chopping block should be an ineffective organization that wastes money, violates our rights, and encourages us to make decisions that imperil our safety. I’m talking about the Transportation Security Administration. Bipartisan support should be immediate. For privacy advocates, eliminating an organization that requires you to choose between a nude body scan or genital groping in order to board a plane should be a no-brainer. The odds of dying from a terrorist attack are much lower than the odds of dying from doing any of a number of incredibly mundane things we do every day. You are almost certainly more likely to die or be injured driving to the airport than you are to be injured by a terrorist once you’re in the air, even without a TSA. Indeed, once you have successfully made it to the airport, the most dangerous part of your trip is over. Until it’s time to drive home, that is. added by: maasanova
