Pop superstar Katy Perry will guest star on Raising Hope on the Tuesday, March 6 episode of the Fox sitcom, the network announced via press release this week. She’ll play a prison attendant who claims to be a former friend of Sabrina’s. The episode will find Sabrina arrested after participating in an Occupy Natesville protest. She ends up in jail, and Perry’s Rikki (below) plays a key role there: How did this come about? Executive producer Greg Garcia said: “Shannon Woodward (Sabrina) told me that her friend Katy was interested in doing an episode and I thought, ‘Why not? Rick Santorum won the Minnesota and Colorado caucuses and a non-binding primary in Missouri on Tuesday night, an unexpected sweep that raised fresh questions about Mitt Romney’s ability to win the Republican presidential nomination. On the flip side, it may help Romney inadvertently. With Santorum emerging as competition to Newt Gingrich as the principal alternative to Romney, voters continue to veer among candidates but have not coalesced behind one consistently, often leaving Romney ahead almost by default. Gingrich has won one state, South Carolina. Santorum has now won four, including Iowa. Romney won New Hampshire January 10 and then back-to-back victories in Florida and Nevada that had led to predictions that he was inevitable. Not so fast. The results on Tuesday shook the political world, though it is an open question whether they are a momentary embarrassment or a prolonged setback Romney. Romney goes into the next round of primaries and caucuses much better financed than his opponents in what will be much more of a nationwide campaign. Arizona and Michigan vote February 28, followed by 11 “Super Tuesday” competitions on March 6. But the enthusiasm in the race is no longer his alone. Santorum’s win in Missouri was symbolic and does not affect the awarding of delegates, which will be decided at district and state conventions later this year. More Republicans participated in the Missouri primary than in the Nevada caucuses , however, and his victory over Mitt in Colorado was a genuine upset. Combined with the victory in Minnesota, it gave him an important lift that his campaign hoped would translate into an infusion of new donations and support. The margin in Colorado was relatively close, with Santorum winning 40.2 percent to Romney’s 34.9, with Gingrich at 12.8 and Ron Paul fourth at 11.8. In Minnesota, though, Santorum won 44.8 percent and Ron Paul 27.2 percent, a strong second that blew past Romney’s 16.9 – Paul’s first “win” over Mitt. It was Santorum’s night, though, and he told cheering supporters at his headquarters in St. Charles, Mo., that he’s setting his sights higher than Romney. “I don’t stand here to claim to be the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney,” he said. “I stand here to be the conservative alternative to Barack Obama.” Minnesota Caucus Results Rick Santorum 44.8% Ron Paul 27.2

MTV’s Power of 12 is on the scene as Republican candidates fight to be Mitt Romney’s runner-up. By Gil Kaufman Rick Santorum Photo: Andrew Burton/ Getty Images If you stayed up late awaiting the results of the Iowa caucus last week, there’s a good chance you’ll get to bed earlier this Tuesday when New Hampshire voters head to the polls for their presidential primary. While former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney slid out of the Hawkeye State with a razor-thin eight-vote victory over suddenly surging contender former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum , polls indicate that the leading GOP candidate will face much-weaker competition in his own backyard. Romney is polling at 40 percent in the state, which means that the real scramble this time will be for second place. Though Romney managed to emerge from Iowa with a win (barely), despite not spending much time there in the run-up to Tuesday’s first-in-the-nation contest, it was the roster of those below him that helped shake up the contest. Left for dead months ago after failing to climb out of the single digits, traditional family-values conservative Santorum nearly managed a huge upset but is unlikely to pull another January surprise in New Hampshire, where the large population of independent voters — who make up 40 percent of the electorate — can cast ballots in Republican primaries. His anti-abortion and anti-gay marriage fire-and-brimstone message may not resonate with Granite State voters the way Libertarian Ron Paul ‘s small-government outlook could. In fact, according to CNN, not only is New Hampshire the least-religious state in the nation, but a 2008 poll found that 55 percent of Republican primary voters believed that abortion should be always or mostly legal. Also, New Hampshire is one of the few states in the country where gay marriage is legal. Paul, whose pull with young voters helped propel him to a strong third-place finish in Iowa, could cement his status as a serious contender with a second-place finish. At press time, he was polling around 17 percent, edging out Santorum at 11 percent. With a win clearly off the table, even a runner-up finish was looking less likely, though, for former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman. The most-liberal conservative in the remaining field made a calculated risk by avoiding Iowa and betting the farm on New Hampshire, where he’s spent much of the past six months. But after crowing that he was certain he’d win the state in recent weeks, Huntsman began lowering expectations in the days leading up to the vote, when his poll numbers failed to rise above 7 percent. Like Santorum and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, Huntsman already began setting his sights on the next contest in South Carolina (January 21), while Romney is hoping to solidify his hold on the leader spot and fend off the rest of the pack as the primaries head to Southern states, where Evangelical voters could play a bigger role in boosting Santorum. While the GOP contenders continue to rip each other apart in the scramble to come out on top after primary season, they also have been hitting President Obama very hard on his policies in their stump speeches. Though Obama does not face a primary battle on Tuesday night, he is running a robust campaign in New Hampshire, where his team is trying to get as many supporters out to the polls to vote as possible in order to shore up the commander in chief’s sagging support in the state. While there had been some chatter about a possible engagement before the holidays, the rumor mill went into overdrive when sources confirmed to Us Weekly that the couple had gotten engaged in late December. While neither of the stars’ reps has commented on the report, Us says the singer/actor asked Biel to marry him while vacationing in Jackson, Wyoming. “Justin knows how much she loves snowboarding and the mountains, so it was the perfect place,” the source said of the reported proposal. The couple, who began dating in 2007, broke up briefly in early 2011 , weeks after they attended Oscar parties together. According to the Us source, “When they reunited, they had a conversation about taking the next step.” Another source close to the singer said he’s “never been happier” and that “he knew it was the right time to propose.” At the time of their March 2011 split, a rep explained, “Addressing the media speculation regarding Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake’s relationship, we are confirming that they mutually have decided to part ways. The two remain friends and continue to hold the highest level of love and respect for each other.” While the two got together again shortly after the breakup, they have always been plagued by speculation about their relationship, whether it be that they are breaking up or getting married. When asked about having to deal with all the attention, Biel told Vogue in 2012, “I don’t want to talk about it. I don’t feel the need to clear anything up. It’s the most precious thing that I have in my life, and I care about it so much that I don’t care about what anyone says or thinks. I have just not addressed it in any real way, and I’m not going to. It’s mine. Upcoming specials include “When I Was 22,” an MTV News documentary kicking off in early 2012 that gives viewers a unique look at the lives of presidential hopefuls. Candidates will look back on their own lives — back when they were 22 years old. Each episode will paint a portrait of the candidate at a younger age, focusing on their dreams, triumphs, setbacks and the moments of resiliency that ultimately shaped their world view. Additionally, “Fantasy Election ’12,” an online game similar to fantasy baseball and football fantasy league games, that allows users to draft a team of candidates pursuing the White House, Senate and House of Representatives and rack up points.
