The Bachelor: Renewed By ABC!

As Bon Jovi once crooned, it’s all the same, only the names will change. The Bachelor has been renewed for a 19th (seriously, 19th) season by ABC. 9 Hottest Bachelors in ABC History 1. Juan Pablo Juan Pablo is extending a rose in this photo. We know millions of women would love to take it. Perhaps more than any other TV except live awards shows, The Bachelor has consistently benefited from celebrity gossip coverage and social media. Reading The Bachelor spoilers and writing live Tweets have become as popular as the show itself, as fans love to hate it and mock it, even if they love it. Even when the star is a disaster (Brad Womack, Juan Pablo Galavis), the guilty pleasure thrives due to its format, the inevitable drama and just enough real emotion. It’s a strange dichotomy, but it made for a no-brainer renewal for ABC. The hit dating competition has become an institution, with The Bachelorette spinoff about to kick off its 10th season, starring Andi Dorfman , on May 19. There’s even The Bachelor in Paradise , another spinoff set to air this summer (not to be confused with the previously terrible and similar Bachelor Pad ). Here’s a look at ABC’s other renewals for the 2014-15 season: ABC Renewals for 2014-2015 1. Dancing with the Stars Keep those dancing shoes on! Dancing with the Stars is coming back for Season 19.

Columbus Short Leaving Scandal Season 4, Actor Confirms In Statement

That cliffhanger ending to  Scandal Season 3  where Rowan Pope had Harrison Wright trapped in the Smithsonian with a double agent? Yeah, that was goodbye to Harrison.  Columbus Short is leaving Scandal Season 4, the actor confirmed on Friday. “At this time I must confirm my exit from a show I’ve called home for 3 years, with what is the most talented ensemble on television today,” Short said in his statement to Us Weekly . Columbus Short’s statement thanked not only Scandal creator Shonda Rhimes but also the Gladiators who championed the series to make it the phenomenon it is. “I would like to first thank [creator] Shonda Rhimes for the opportunity to work with such an amazing cast,” he said, continuing, “Thank you GLADIATORS, who have supported me throughout my entire career and of course to ABC and Shondaland for allowing me to play such a pivotal role in the Scandal series.” Short’s domestic violence issues seem to have caught up to him and since Shonda Rhimes doesn’t play around with real-life scandals, many speculated this was coming. In March, Short was arrested on felony battery charges following a fight in a bar. Prior to that, on Valentine’s Day, he was arrested for misdemeanor spousal abuse and ordered to stay away from his now-estranged wife Tuere Short. The two filed for divorce in 2013, reconciled, and are now in the midst of a heated divorce once again.  Short closed his statement saying, “Everything must come to an end and unfortunately the time has come for Harrison Wright to exit the canvas.” “I wish nothing but the best for Shonda, Kerry and the rest of the cast, who have become like a second family to me in such a short amount of time. For this, I will forever be grateful.” We’re gonna miss those suspenders, but we can always watch Scandal online to see them whenever we want.

Aaron Sorkin on The Newsroom: My Bad!

What’s more rare than Justin Bieber with his shirt on or Kim Kardashian not selling herself out? A contrite Aaron Sorkin. But that’s the state this producer was in last night at the Tribeca Film Festival, addressing the crowd and taking note of criticism leveled at his HBO series The Newsroom. “I apologize and I’d like to start over,” Sorkin said of the program, which stars Jeff Daniels as a cable news anchor and which has received backlash for trying to rewrite the coverage of recent news stories. “I did not set the show in the recent past in order to show the pros how it should have been done. That was and remains the furthest thing from my mind,” he explained. The Newsroom has ran episodes based around such events as the Deepwater Horizon oil and the attack on the American consulate in Benghazi. The series often seems to be taken veiled shots at how various media outlets covered those issues back in the day, depicting on a weekly basis how it should have been done. But Sorkin reiterated here that this is a “misunderstanding” of his goals for the program and said he wanted to set his characters in real-life situations. “Also, I wanted the option of having a terrific dynamic that you can get when the audience knows more than the characters do,” he said. “I wasn’t trying to and I’m not capable of teaching a professional journalist a less. That wasn’t my intent and it’s never my intent to teach you a lesson or try to persuade you or anything.” The Newsroom returns this fall for its third and final season and will cover, among other topics, the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing. You can watch The Newsroom online via TV Fanatic to catch up before then.

The first episode of 2014, “Two Swords,” became the network’s most watched episode of any show since The Sopranos’ 2007 finale (11.9 million viewers). Suffice it to say, the series is only becoming more popular with time. In an effort to continue that upward trajectory, showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have also been signed to a new contract through Season 6. Excited for the renewal? What did you think of Sunday’s premiere? Where do you see the show going in the next three seasons? Grey’s Anatomy Stunner: Who’s Returning?

In a shocking announcement, Grey’s Anatomy producer Shonda Rhimes confirmed today that Isaiah Washington will check back in to her ABC series to help bid farewell to Sandra Oh in May. The actor departed the series at the conclusion of Season 3 amidst a firestorm he created by referring to then-colleague T.R. Knight by a gay slur. Washington’s character, Dr. Preston Burke, was written off the drama when he left Oh’s Cristina at the altar. Oh, meanwhile, said last year that she would be leaving the drama following Grey’s Anatomy Season 10 . Said Rhimes in a statement: “It’s important to me that Cristina’s journey unfolds exactly as it should. Burke is vital to that journey – he gives her story that full-circle moment we need to properly say goodbye to our beloved Cristina Yang.” No word yet on what brings Burke back into the fold or how Rhimes will send Yang on her way. But it’s been presumed for awhile now that the surgeon will not be killed off. Washington starred briefly on NBC’s Bionic Woman after getting the boot from Grey’s Anatomy, but will soon pick up his first regular TV role in years when he appears on The CW’s  The 100 .

Seinfeld Reunion: Will It Finally Happen?

Break out the cereal and get in line for some soup… a Seinfeld reunion might actually be taken place! Earlier this week, Jerry Seinfeld and Jason Alexander were spotted at Tom’s Restaurant, the setting of many meals and jokes throughout the storied history of this sitcom. Were they filming a commercial An episode of Jerry’s Web series? “It’s neither, but it is not… not those things either. It’s a secret project,” Jerry mysteriously said today during an interview with WFAN in New York. What could it be? Will we have a new set of Seinfeld quotes to celebrate? The comedian would only tease the following: Other cast members are involved in the project. Shooting is complete. It is over 60 seconds in length. Alexander is portraying George Constanza; Jerry is NOT playing himself. Larry David is involved, but not in front of the camera. It will air “very, very soon.” No filming took place in Jerry’s apartment. It was likely a one-time deal. In whatever form this takes, do you want to see a Seinfeld reunion?   Eh, sure OF COURSE! Absolutely! YES! View Poll »

Olivier Martinez: Out for Revenge on Season 3

Olivier Martinez will soon be out for Revenge. The lucky husband of Halle Berry will recur on the ABC drama as Pascal LeMarchal, the media magnate father of Karine Vanasse Margaux. Look for the character to show up some time this spring and to share a competitive history with Conrad. Along with a complicated one with Victoria, according to Deadline. Intriguing! The role will mark Martinez’s first regular foray into U.S. television and comes as his wife has actually agreed to the same: Berry will headline Extant on CBS this summer. Looking to catch up on Revenge? You can watch Revenge online at TV Fanatic before a new episode airs this Sunday.
